Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread

I hate that this game was released like this, in Yankee stadium dynamic cam any fly ball to the outfield is a stutering mess. the patch seemed like I did something but not enough to make this a jarring experience playing.

The faster mode is 1080p and looks terrible, has ZERO antialasing and there is jaggies all around the edges of players and the pitch meter is fuzzy as hell. But worst of all it still has stutters.

What is going on here? Last year the game had no issues in balanced mode and was super smooth in fast mode.

I cannot believe the love of this game has made people claim is not a big deal and very playable. I wish they had that level of thinking for all games

      Game is amazing.
This was my exact experience. I was quite worried...

However, the smoothness and polish, with the new animations added in. Feels and plays fantastic.
I also rebuilt my database (which I'm sure doesn't matter).
      I'm on Pro/Balanced FYI.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of TV are you playing on? I'm playing on a Pro and a beast 4K TV and I'm having a terrible time in certain parks, even in fast mode. I bought my TV not too long ago, and spend a good amount of $ on it. I'm seriously considering trying another TV to get '19 running smoothly for me.

I doubt the TV matters as long as it's 4k. I'm thinking it probably has to do with:
          1. Stadium
          2. Time of day
          3. View used (I wonder if there is a difference between a zoomed in strike zone batting view compared to a zoomed out wide angle which shows more crowd and sky)
          4. Pro vs original (I tend to see more complaints from Pro users)

I don't have the game yet (waiting to hear more about framerate and the carry over save contracts situation), but it seems more like it's a processing issue with too much graphical demand in certain situations; would explain why some people are experiencing issues to different degrees.

I have a Samsung NU8000 and I am having the same issue everyone else is having. I have my PS4 pro set in 2160p-RGB and the RGB range set to full on the PS4 setting with HDR off. I’m wondering if anyone else who has this tv if the RGB set to full instead of automatic could cause framrate problems?

It's crazy to me that '18 could run super smooth for me, and I'm having some big time issues with '19.

For those of you not having framerate problems, I am so jealous haha. This game appears to play great, but this framerate issue is killing this game for me, just like it did with '16. Bummer
IHateDuke32, I really feel for you man. You are one of the few I have seen just not complaining about the stutters, but you are actually trying to figure it out. Kudos to you, man, for not just crying but trying to fix the issue(s) at hand.

I am really at a loss as to why some of you all are having the issues you are having. I simply have had nothing but great performance and play, and I have tried the reported problem stadiums, different times of day, etc. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why you are having such issues. I mean, a PS4 Pro is a PS4 Pro, right? Mine is not even a newer model PS4 Pro, got it pretty soon after they started releasing them. The only thing that I am using that is a little different than most folks that have posted about stutters etc. is that I have my PS4 Pro connected to an LG 4k PC gaming monitor (32"). It has HDR, but on my screen, the colors look much better without HDR on. However, I run at 4k in Sharper mode and am simply not experiencing the problems that you and some of the others are having. I really wish we (the OS community, SDS, someone) could figure out why some folks are having such problems. I hope you guys get it sorted soon, because The Show 19 is proving to be a great baseball video game for me, and I have played The Show since '12 at least. If there is anything I can do to try and help , let me know. Not sure what, but I just want you and others to be able to enjoy '19 like some of us others are.

One thing I’ve noticed is that when using a custom camera view I have some frame rate issues....got it dialed in last night where there was no issues but it seems like certain camera views work better in certain ballparks

Really so you came to a thread that is dedicated to people who have the issue to tell us that some are just crying and others are trying to figure out how to fix a GAME they did not make. So now we are customers and problem fixes for games. Come on now stop the BS and let people who are having issues vent. If you want to do your glorious feedback and the silky smooth version with no issues you received go to the impressions thread. Am sure you will get plenty of praise and hoopla over there.

Nobody here can fix an issue that is tied to the console and game development. Stop it

This should not be the case, if a camera is in the game it should work as the others. We should not resort to using a camera we do not like to enjoy the game.

                        Okay Guys

Maybe i got something which could help you too...

                        I change my hdmi ports.

                        Before:

                        Ps4 pro hdmi port 2
                        Name of the port: gaming

                        Now:

                        Ps4 pro hdmi port 1
And I change the port name to PC and in picture options then to game mode hdr.

Almost everything in the settings is greyed out now but wow the game is smooth *.*

Minute Maid park is still a bit lagging but everything else is so much better

I hope this could help you too and I hope you understand everything...

                        I come from Germany

In motion, there is a clear difference between 60 FPS and something that comes at less than such. For games, more frames is generally preferred.

Films traditionally play around 24 frames per second (24000/1001 to be exact, so closer to 23.976 FPS), many television shows would be 30 frames per second, and games on console would often do their thing to target a locked 30 FPS or 60 FPS.

From what I understand, MLB The Show 18 with a PS4 Pro and the Faster option enabled could maintain 60 FPS in normal gameplay flow. In MLB THe Show 19, it sounds like there are moments where the game doesn't maintain a locked 60 FPS the entire time. They can become almost more glaring or jarring because it's inconsistent, so you really see when they appear. I don't know if people are actually experiencing slowdown or if it's just choppier, but it's likely a result of too many things going on at once (too much to render on screen, too many calculations in the background, etc.).

In terms of noticeability, I'll put it this way: Have you ever seen Family Guy on TBS? Have you noticed that to get another commercial or so in, that they speed up a few parts of the opening theme song and other musical parts? They do this for other movies on TV as well, but FG is a perfect example. See, if the whole song was 5% faster, you might not notice it. But when it dips in and out from normal speed to 5% faster and back to normal again over and over, it really catches your ears and can be a nuisance.

Anyway, I don't know exactly what it is you need to be looking for till I get the game myself. All I'm trying to do is educate you on the matter. A fair warning, though... ignorance is bliss, my man. Many people believe that people who can sense more things in video and audio are blessed to get the most out of the best things there are to offer, when we are in fact cursed with all of the non-best things out there aplenty. Once you see it, you can't unsee it... and you'll only have me to blame, lol.
Thanks for this! I understand what it is better now but I still don't notice it in the game lol. I'll keep enjoying my innocence and ignorance because I'm loving the game so far

Hell, they should just release the game on PC if it's gonna be this much BS to get a solid framerate.

One of the biggest benefits of playing games on a console is ease of use..
Do it. (Release The Show for PC)

Having frame rate issue just like everyone else. I turn on HDR on my TV and then go to the audio/video menu and the HDR is locked on off. Any thoughts on why or how to unlock it in the game menu?

I own a Sony 75” Z9d and never had performance issues with the show.

I turned HDR on and play on “faster” as I do every year. There is more stuttering/lag than I can remember. It is definitely a launch issue with the game.

NBA 2k had an issue similar to this at launch for the Xbox One. They patched it rather quickly.
