So has SDS said anything regarding the frame rate or any other issues we are having with the game?

MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread

So this is utterly bizarre - for the first few days I wasn’t seeing any issues at all, thought this thread was just the same ol’ song and dance as every year with this game, but tonight I fired it up and had some RIDICULOUS choppiness all over the place, like I hesitate to use the word “slideshow” but I guess I just did: I mean where the ball was literally skipping frames on the way to the plate and pitchers’ deliveries stuttering.

There is no way I just “wasn’t noticing” this before, and that’s just the thing: it was FINE. For days it was fine. Now this out of nowhere? I’m completely baffled.

Edit: the only variable is that this was a 1pm game whereas the other three I played were later in the day. Maybe it’s as simple as that but wow what a difference.

      Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Night games are better, games with sunlight are the worst, do not matter which stadium, one better than the other but still no 60FPS.

@Steve_OS is it possible to let the devs know about this issue?

The craziest thing about all of this to me is...how can some of us notice this issue and also to the point that we do, while there's also a group saying the game plays super smooth. How can we be playing the same game but experiencing it so differently? It can't be my TV, or PS4 Pro because there's many games that run perfectly fine on this exact set-up, MLB '18 being one of them!

There are little things, such as XxGamer mentioned like skipping a cut scene and holding X and watching the meter kind of skip as it fills. Or when you make an out in the infield and the ball beings to get tossed around...the framerate is soooooo bad the ball skips HEAVILY. ....BUT it's things like that where I can say eh, whatever. I can live with this.

However, when it affects gameplay is when it bothers the crap out of me. Whether I'm batting and there are severe hitches when the balls is about to cross the plate. Or when a fly ball is hit to the outfield and the framerate again drops like crazy. These things are huge eyesores, they even hurt my eyes, plus they're affecting your ability to actually play the game. That is where I draw the line and become frustrated.

The framerate isn't super low in all situations. And it is different at different parks throughout the game. But when it's low, it is VERY noticeable. There is definitely an issue here, and I think enough people have chimed in claiming they are seeing it as well. I guess all we can do is hope for a patch/fix? I'm not expecting one, because I don't want to disappoint myself. This game plays amazing, but I can't enjoy it anywhere close to the amount that I want to because of the framerate. This definitely sucks.

I mean it's a video game, and I'm not mad at anyone lol. It's just that...the Show is the one video game I know I'm going to buy/look forward to each year. I'm a baseball junkie, and I've been playing this game since '06. Sure I buy other games and enjoy them along the way. But the Show is the only reason I have a PS4 over an Xbox. And if I can't enjoy the one game that I love the most, that's a big-time bummer (for me).

If this problem persists, I don't think I'll give '19 much play time and that's a shame because the gameplay definitely feels great. I'll have to resort to '18 whenever I need a baseball fix. My OCD will drive me crazy, knowing I'm missing out on things like new equipment, the new colors at Marlins Park, the changes made to fielding/hitting...Man I really don't want to go back to '18 hahaha (which I did love!).

I think they're aware of this one. This thread is a highly active topic created by a regular community devotee, Steve_SDS and Woodweaver are still actively perusing these forums, and there are some semblances of concrete evidence when it comes to certain stadiums/cameras that the developers will be able to recreate.

On their end, they will mostly have to look toward optimization. I'm not saying it's a very probable fix, and I'm not saying these are waters they've dipped into before... but I do think this is something that they are aware of, and will attempt to address if they are able.

Does this matter if you have disc or digital?

No, because the games don't really run off the disc on PS4. They completely install on your hard drive, bit-for-bit. The disc is primarily used to provide you access to the game afterward, if that makes sense.

Not sure why this hasn’t been done already by the guys talking about frame rate but here’s a video I took from my phone directly off of my tv...... can anyone say if my example has frame rate issues cause I just don’t see it, or maybe mines better than other?

Just wanted to add my .02. I was watching Armor’s stream last night and he was running No HDR and Balanced. I tried it and I agree completely. Silky smooth and still looked great. I have a pro and a Sony 4K. Wanted to recommend for you guys that are continuing to have problems.

That’s cool and all but last year, HDR and balanced was silky smooth. Shouldn’t of went backwards.

I haven't done it because my computer hasn't been cooperating nicely with my elgato for whatever reason. Probably just has too much crap on it to get the 60 FPS capture these days. I would have done it a long time ago, though.

Anyway, you're at a Spring Training stadium. We get just as smooth of a framerate as you there. Why don't you go to Minute Maid Park, now? Play a game in the day time with the roof closed, and make sure that matchup will generate a good crowd. Then, watch a pitch come in, and tell me it's coming in as smoothly as it does in that Spring Training game.
