    On

If it looks worse, then something is wrong.

Doesn’t look worse on my TV but I’m going experiment.

        HDR on or Off?

        Definitely ON.
I play on the LG OLED55C7V.
Everything is just more vibrant with it on and the sun feels like it’s actually shining [emoji41]

BUT it depends on your tv. Older models with the first HDR integration often have lower nits so the game will not look as good with HDR on and could indeed make the screen darker. HDR is all about the wide range between the brightest a tv can get and how dark (Oled obviously the best is this regard) it can get. If your tv cant push out a high amount of nits HDR will indeed make it darker.

          Fully agree with Lastactionhero.

          HDR definately ON!
Colors pop and are just much more vibrant. Big difference compared to hdr off.

I'm playing on a Samsung QE65Q9FN and it's just gorgeous.

Definitely keep it on! For people saying it gets darker, just give your eyes some time to adjust. Much more photo realistic and overall better contrast and a much better balance across the board.

My LG B7 had a 'whoa' type of difference when turning on HDR -- in a good way!

When I bought my TV I went to a forum with TV nerds (i think it was avsforum). They had a good starting point for fine-tuning your TV's color settings. Obviously panel to panel it differs, but gave me a great starting point. Not sure if that plays a part, but if you are getting worse results with HDR on, that might be a place to start.

So I’ve noticed like a lot of HDR games, they looked washed out when turned on, but turn it off, it looks better. What do you think ?

              I’m on a Sony 930e

I play with mine off. With HDR on, the players have a ghostly white outline on their uniforms. I’m sure its fixable if I fool around with it, but the HDR on also has been hurting my eyes.

So on my Sony TV, when I turn HDR, I put it on game mode but soon as I enable the live football option it goes to the sports setting. I guess it doesn’t really matter on or off, your getting a pretty good picture either way. I’m gonna see what playing on the sharpest (4k) setting looks and feels like.

That white ghostly outline your talking about is called “bloom” it’s implemented at a developer level. In most PC games you can turn it off but console games rarely give these options.

Why not just calibrate your tv under the Game setting? But yes, switching to Live Football Mode is a completely different setting. I have the Sony 900E and play on Game mode with HDR on and the pic looks photo realistic. I would suggest rtings.com for TV calibration settings if you aren't liking your picture.

Tried rtings.com, wasn't impressed, I like the brightness better with HDR off, it looks good either way.

When in HDR mode, do you have X-tended Dynamic Range and Auto Local Dimming set to high as well as Brightness Maxed out? But ya, with it off the colors pop but don't look realistic to me.

I have the Sony X800d 43 inch as well and agree HDR looks fantastic although I am not using rtings recommended settings.

As with all HDR sets you just need to fool around with your TV's picture settings until you get it perfect. It took me awhile but I am really happy with the results. To my eyes MLB The Show 19 colors really pop and are vivid while still looking very natural and realistic.

And as TheBleedingRed21 said the Sony X800d is no where near an elite TV so with higher end TV's you should be able to see even better HDR results.

I thought Dynamic Contrast was known to crush blacks and was recommended to be set to off for that reason.
