    Oracle Park Update

Some more information about the Giants' new bullpens was made public today. One will be in left-center field, the other in right-center field. Field dimensions and fence height will change in those areas, but only slightly so. There will also be "a terrace beyond center field where fans can congregate". According to the article, renderings will be released later in the off-season.

Re: MLB 20 Stadium Accuracy / Feedback Thread

Hoping this is the year that Kauffman Stadium gets some love. I know there’s so much to do and a relatively short amount of time for the developers, but it seems like each year I’m copying and pasting the same list and then one thing gets checked off for the next year’s game...

For now - here’s my copy-pasted list from the past few years. I’ll work on getting some images for the other incorrect pieces from the 2019 season.

      STADIUM NAME: Kauffman Stadium

DESCRIPTION: Right Field Porch Sign - For years this was a Budweiser script sign, and for the 2017 and 2018 seasons, it was changed to Blue Moon. Even if the text could say something like ‘The Show’ with a baseball between the words, that would be better than the big rectangular The Show sign that's currently in-game.

      STADIUM NAME: Kauffman Stadium

DESCRIPTION: Outfield LF & RF Wall LED Signage - At Kauffman, the LED boards extend further than what is currently in The Show. In The Show, there is a fixed graphic at the end towards the bullpen(s), but in reality, the LED board extends all the way to the bullpen edge. Only the last graphic, towards center field, is non-LED.

      STADIUM NAME: Kauffman Stadium

DESCRIPTION: Grass Pattern - I love when the Royals mow the crown in to the outfield grass. But truthfully, this was almost exclusively used in the playoff runs of 2014-15. Seeing it still in for every game in The Show makes it less special. I would prefer The Show had the much more common checker pattern for the field, and thick parallel lines in foul territory as the Royals use 99% of the time.

      STADIUM NAME: Kauffman Stadium

DESCRIPTION: Upper Deck Advertisements - In The Show, these upper deck vomitories are solid concrete. However, in real life, the two big ones on the sides of the upper deck should have large (mostly blue) sponsor graphics on them. Also, at the top of the press box area are two long 'roof tops'. The Show has these as a plain color, but these should also be sponsored mostly blue.

      STADIUM NAME: Kauffman Stadium

DESCRIPTION: Kauffman Stadium Broadcast Pitching Cam - It seems like the angle of the camera is just a bit off. The zoom is about right, but I think the camera needs to swing around to show a little bit more to the right. I think the focal length of the camera needs changed a little too, because you can see that the dirt circle around home plate runs off the left and right edges in the real broadcast. It's easiest to compare when you look at the advertisement panels on the backstop. It doesn't take away from the game, but as someone that watches most Royals games, and also plays loads of The Show each year, it's enough that I notice it and it takes away just enough from the realism.

Re: MLB 20 Stadium Accuracy / Feedback Thread

Adding a few more Kauffman Stadium notes. This list shows things in addition to my last post, which was mostly copy-paste of things that I've noted in years past that still haven't been changed in the game:

        STADIUM NAME: Kauffman Stadium

DESCRIPTION: Right field outfield stadium design -
        1. Blue Moon Sign - As noted in past years, it would look so much more believable if the big rectangle "The Show" sign could be updated to be free standing text instead. Before Blue Moon, it was Budweiser, but even then it was still freestanding text. It's a minor thing but I think it would be a much better representation to what's there if the text said "The Show" with a baseball between the two words, for instance.
        2. Blue Canopy under Blue Moon Sign - The canopy used to be red, when Budweiser was the main sponsor, but has been blue the last couple of seasons to go along with the Blue Moon sponsorship.
        3. Area Under the Blue Moon Taproom - In The Show, the area behind the last row of seats (below the Blue Moon Taproom) is shown as closed off with glass. I would say it's extremely rare that the glass is closed during games. All of the photos you see have it open, and I can't remember a time when I've been to the game and seen it closed. It would look a lot better if that glass was removed and you could see people and standing tables, etc in there.
        4. Price Chopper Patio - This was a new addition last year. Even if it could be a box that says "The Show" and then freestanding text that says "PATIO", that would be awesome. This area is essentially just a covered patio for group ticket sales.
        5. Boulevard Brewery Smokestack - Pretty self explanatory but the smokestack has been at Kauffman Stadium for the past few years now.
        6. George Brett, Dick Howser, Frank White and the Kauffmans Statues - Just behind the fountains, at the edge of the concourse are the (4) large statues of these people. It would be awesome to have these included, similar to how other stadium in The Show have statues that show up pregame.

Would be nice if they could make these changes, too:

            - Darken the shade of blue on the walls
            - Fill the area below the batters eye with shrubs
            - Have the windows open when the roof is
            - Swap the bullpens (Marlins should be in left, visitors in right)
            - Marlins logo on the mound should not be colored in

Marlins Park would be pretty much perfect with these tweaks made.

              Oakland Coliseum Update

The A's will be extending their netting to the foul poles for 2020, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.

              Oracle Park Updates

The Giants will also be extending their netting to the foul poles.

The Giants also released the first official renderings of the new bullpens as well as new dimensions for that part of the park:

The new outfield wall for this part of the outfield will be a foot shorter than the wall in left field. More information can be found in their press release.

On the Green Monster at Fenway park when a batter has a single number on his jersey it shows double on the scoreboard.

So for example if a batter's jersey number is 2 on the scoreboard it shows as 22. Or 8 would show as 88 on the scoreboard.

This has been an issue for years now and I would like it to be fixed please for MLB The Show 20 please.

Also on the Green Monster scoreboard when a run is scored in the "current" inning the run number is Yellow!

And then after the inning is over the run number is changed to white.

                  Please add this!

The four Yankee Stadium LED message boards on both sides of the batter eye need to be animated in the game. They have been static for several years. You cant see the one on the far right in this picture but they are located above the two bars and the rear of the party terraces

While this is the least offensive design choice and location for this outfield wall shortening and while I'm very happy that bullpens are out of the field of play, I do not agree with the decision.

Regardless, for the video game's sake I am first and foremost always about authenticity, so I hope they nail this in-game.

Busch Stadium - Outfield backdrop too dark

For the last couple of years, the outfield backdrop at Busch has been too dark. This is mostly due to the signs not being lit up.

Specifically, the signs are bit too dark and a couple signs need changes:

Scoreboard: The Cardinals atop the scoreboard are outlined in neon white. They should be outlined in neon Red. Ironically, within The Show 19 and before, the Cardinals next to a 'Burgers' advertisement in the upper deck along the third baseline are done perfectly.

                        Scoreboard Cardinals

Cardinal from the Upper Deck (third baseline)

Also, the 'Cardinals' lettering atop the scoreboard should be in neon Red (like the Cardinals above it). This would make it standout much better as it is in person.

Cola Sign - The Cocal Cola Roofdeck sign (Cola sign in the show) currently isn't lit up (outlined in white neon) and the Cola bottles should be outlined in neon green outline. This would really go a long ways in adding to the backdrop. As it is in the game right now it makes the backdrop at Busch very bland.

                        Cola Sign (The Show 19)

                        Coca Cola Rooftop Deck sign

Ballpark Village signs - The signs from Ballpark Village that are visible aren't lit very well and would look much better if outlined in neon effect as they are in person.

Ballpark Village (at night with neon signs glowing)

These are a few things I've been meaning to send in for feedback for a couple of years (possibly too late to get in for The Show 20). Though I'm a Yankees/Mariners fan (originally a New Yorker but been in Seattle a long time) I've always loved the unique look of Busch Stadium that isn't quite captured yet in The Show. Updating these would instantly make Busch one of the best looking ballparks within The Show. I sent feedback a few years ago to add neon glow to the Citgo sign at Fenway which made it in and I think itadded to the look of Fenway in the game. Hopefully these changes make it in as well.

I also hope it's replicated well in-game. I have little reason to believe that it wouldn't.

From what I understand, the location they decided upon for the new bullpens was probably the most sensible choice. Like a lot of people, I would've preferred having the bullpens replace The Garden, thus keeping the dimensions intact. But, apparently, that would've been a logistical nightmare in regards to plumbing and whatnot.

Also, I know this might be an unpopular opinion within Giant fandom, but i wasn't totally on-board with the idea of moving the bullpens to begin with. I remember a Farhan Zaidi quote from last year where he speculated that the in-play bullpens may have actually prevented injuries by discouraging players from sliding into the wall.

In a thread I dedicated to night sky transitions/color, I also had the presence of mind to throw in the appearance of Busch Stadium with lit up signs.

Here's what it actually looked like (skies thankfully have a purplish look as of The Show 19, not perfect but getting there):

                            Here is my lighting edit.

Looks like I didn't add LED ribbons to some of BP Village, but I only lit what was already there. Clearly they would have to do a little more along the way.

                            Makes a huge difference, though.

At 3:27, you can see that the new premium seating areas near the foul poles and the red State Farm ads over the power alleys are in. Big thanks to Adam and the SDS team! Hoping to see more Bay Area stadium additions during the livestreams.
