we ARE the testers . FBoW its the model for yearly releases . oh, I know a lot of testing gets done in house but there is SO much to test , if a game with a yearly release delayed a couple months, that would be a far bigger sin

This doesn't just affect carry over saves. I just did a test with the White Sox new franchise using OSFM. Start the year with rotation as is and go to the first game. No pitcher shows in the lineup/subs. Went back and promoted Dylan Cease for Michael Kopech and put him in the rotation. Go back to the first game, lineup/subs and Dylan Cease is there as an option to hit. Sim long enough and the CPU will put him in the lineup every so often (or recommend you do).

I almost wonder if this mode would be better off without 30 team control. I know I will get crucified for that statement, but I think they would be forced to fix the moronic computer logic for trades, free agency, roster moves, and lineups if the user wasn't able to just go in an undo all the stupidity.

I usually don't write negative posts like this, but I have been perusing this forum since a month prior to release with hopes that these issues would be fixed and I could finally feel comfortable purchasing the game. This has been one of my favorite games for the past 10 years, but I just can't continue to support this development team until they put just a little bit of effort into franchise mode.
Actually this is exactly why 30 team control was created. There was a glitch in the programming once in a blue moon that would corrupt a franchise file and make your it impossible to continue. It was determined to be a 40 man roster issue or something like that and so 30 team was born to give us the ability to manage roster and such to avoid franchise issues just such as this.

So, is it an intermittent issue? Or is it a definite issue all around.... Can we solve it with a blanket no DH rule? Or does it not matter.

Well, no DH would presumably work, the problem though, is that then you would have no DHs, and thus have pitchers hitting, which is an abomination.

As for another fix... no, there's no other current thing I've been able to use. 30 team control is the best fix, and even then, unless you are willing to go into EVERY game, and replace the DH before simming and exiting, you are going to end up with pitchers in the DH slot on the stats screen.

I still haven’t seen it ever happen.

Might as well just start a franchise and sim a season as a test for yourself.

To your point, I simmed a half season.
                Setup

                Osfm with 40 man rosters
                Single team control
                DH in American league

Minnesota had an injury and their rhp lineup had a missing DH... Checked every one of their games and not once was a pitcher in at DH or in the field.

                Thanks for the sim idea

Its only happening with the Mariners in my franchise. It started when I added Erik Swanson to the 40 man and promoted him to MLB. I am using Ridins Roster.

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why

Well now I feel a bit stupid.

After insisting multiple times that I’d never seen it, this issue popped up for me. I went back through some saves from previous seasons to see if it’s been happening, and it has. I also started a new franchise with the same roster file to see if it would happen again, and it did. So apologies for suggesting it was a flaw unique to only some people.

It occurred with Scott Blewett in my Royals franchise. He was a starter in my AA rotation at the time. Played maybe a third of my games at DH in the 2022 season before I noticed (about halfway through the season).

I subbed him to long relief, and it appears to have stopped.

My guess is certain pitchers have something in their profile that make them two-way players, but that isn’t something we can edit as far as I can tell.

What we can do, however, is change these guys to relievers. After testing a few things out, it appears this DOES NOT happen with these players when they’re in the bullpen. I tried editing their position to RP, saving, then editing back to SP. That does not fix it. Changing them to RP and keeping them in the starting rotation doesn’t fix it, either. Something we cannot change is triggering this on certain players. The only fix I can find is to keep them in the bullpen.

Another note: This appears to happen only if the affected starter has an overall rating equal to or higher than your DH. Blewett (74 overall) continued to sub in as a DH only when I had a DH who was a 74 or lower. My DH progressed to a 75, and it stopped. I confirmed this by playing around with Blewett’s attributes. Made him a 99 overall pitcher by boosting his pitching attributes. He kept playing DH. I made him a 44 overall by dropping those same stats. He stopped hitting. This is why I didn’t notice it earlier; my DH was always someone with a higher overall.

So this is definitely real and will affect everyone. However, it only happens with specific pitchers, and it only happens if they have a higher overall than your DH, and it only happens if they’re in your starting rotation.

I posted about this in ridin’s Thread for his rosters. I figured I was the only person having this issue at first. It’s an issue effecting the game clear cut across the board. I’ve used default rosters, ridins, and a few random ones from the vault to test and it happens in all of them. Right now the only work around I’ve had that eliminates it, is remaking the play effected. For example, I play as the A’s and Grant Holmes had RF as his secondary position, well since we can’t edit secondary positions for pitchers, the only fix was literally to remake him. It sucks and it’s super time consuming. SSDS could literally erase this issue by just letting us edit pitchers secondary positions. That’s literally what the issue is. Any pitcher who has a secondary position will be auto put in the DH slot. Starting pitcher, reliever, closer. It happens no matter what.

But I have pitchers with no secondary position being put in to DH or RF.

Agree, it doesn't matter if the pitcher has a secondary position or not, it just happens.

Can disabling DH or making DH universal help at all?

No idea. I've carried over my MLB 16 Franchise up until 2022.
