Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
So I'm not sure if it fixed the issue or not.

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
Just played LA with Ohtani scheduled to start, his energy was so low they started their long reliever Jaime Barrera instead
If this thread is about to fade into the night do we need to start another to address another major flaw in this feature?Comment

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
so many questions to ask: is this because Ohtani is moonlighting as a DH? is he the only pitcher its happening to? even though his stamina is low-mid 80's, does his 64 durability factor in? Ohtani only pitched in 10 games last year. I'm still not convinced his body will hold up enough to pitch & DH. guess we'll learn more in the 2020 season. if I were running an Angel franchise, I'd have to take a long hard look at making Ohtani a pitcher only or an outfielder only. this is the same situation LAA is in IRL for next year whether they're ready to admit it yet or not. if Ohtani is the only pitcher with stamina problems and missing starts, then I'd say its not a major flaw, just a minor one. if there are multiple pitchers missing starts due to low energy, who aren't even DH'ing, then I'd say a thread dedicated to that issue would be worthwhile IMOOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
I've seen this happen with Ohtani as well. I couldn't tell you if it is every two way pitcher but it is definitely related to him being a two way player. While I agree with the real life assessment of his stamina/durability, given that Ohtani is the reason for adding SDS adding this feature, if he can't make starts and DH, then the feature is not working as designed.
All that said, I heard that with the new patch Ohtani is no longer a 2 way player (i.e. he is RF or SP depending on the roster you're using). If this is true, then the issue is moot. But SDS should probably be aware that the feature isn't working as it should.

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
They need to somehow de-couple stamina used for pitching from the stamina used to play the field/hit. That is why this is happening. Ohtani is unable to recover stamina between pitching starts because his starts at DH are draining the stamina he uses to pitch. That is indeed a major bug. When my AAA pitcher was getting put at DH and RF before the latest patch, the same was happening to him. So it's not specific to Ohtani. Whatever you personally think of two-way players, the Angels are committed to trying him as a two-way player once he recovers from Tommy John. Most importantly, this was not meant by SDS as some statement on two-way players. I am certain they did not intend for Ohtani to be perpetually gassed. And with Brendan McKay getting close to the big leagues, this might soon no longer be about only one player. SDS needs to set some time aside in their schedule and work on a *real* solution for this for The Show 20.
But in the meantime, for people already in the middle of a Franchise where Ohtani is a two-way player, there has to be a solution. Probably just disable his ability to hit and go back to how it was in 18. Sad, but necessary. Or he'll remain utterly broken.Last edited by Ace1234NY; 06-13-2019, 02:01 PM.Comment

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
The bug persists, they only managed to fix a part of it.
While all of the generated players in my carry over are fixed, any real life NL pitcher who is pitching in the AL still has the bug, and while they don't force their way onto the DH spot anymore, they still effect the CPUs management and team building logic.
Despite trying to prevent it by using the two controller trick at the beginning of the game, I just had the Rays sub in Zack Grienke into RF. Without him, they only have 3 people in the 25 man who can play OF.

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
It's not so bad, considering that a good portion of my universe is fictional by now, but it does really suck that the rays are basically going to lay down and let me sweep them thanks to mismanagement.
On paper the Rays are a team on the rise, with a strong group of hitters consisting mostly of young developing talent, with a veteran or two and a solid rotation, but this season is a write off for them thanks mostly to this bug.
I just hope other teams aren't as effected as the Rays. I'd hate to win the pennant because the other team plays their ace in RF.

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
Is there any way to use the updated roster and make ohtani a SP again? It won’t let me edit him and change his position to pitcher. Can I import an older SP version of him from a different roster over the RF version?

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
No on the changing from OF to SP. You cannot import a fielder into a pitcher slot and visa versa. You'll need to import a CAP, or a Joe Random type to delete Ohtani from the fielding slot and then import a CAP from the vault into a pitchers slot.Comment

Re: Pitchers as DH in franchise?? Why
No. I would suggest using Ridin's latest Full Minors Draft roster, which still has him as a SP.Comment
