Regardless, that first game is probably going to be more a question of what we lose rather than what we gain. Going off history.
Old consoles were hotbeds of proprietary tech and programming. The PS3 in particular was a very unique piece of tech. If you're in to tech stuff, you should look up the cell processor, it was, and still is, a cool idea, but led to some unique programming challenges not present on other platforms.

Meanwhile, the PS4 and the XBone are both basically PCs, one running Windows with the UI mucked about a bit, and the other running a unique Linux-based operating system. If the rumours are true, then the next generation will also basically be PCs, running similar (or possibly the exact same) operating systems.

In theory, this should be the smoothest generational transition, and backwards compatibility (at least to this gen) is very likely.

PS there is also a rumour that the PS5 will have PS3, PS2, and PS1 emulators all baked in. Take that with a grain of salt though, the PS3 tried to do that and it required an entire second chip on the motherboard (which caused overheating and eventually got ditched in later models).

Nah that won’t happen until the PS6 [emoji23]

      I would like to see:

      - player collision and actual applied tags and no more swipe throughs. They have become better over the past years but still a few faux pas in that department.
      - dynamic weather, a game that starts in the rain , breaks open during the game and the suns starts getting through.
      - new dirt and grass
      - better long hair physics
      - no more (or almost non existent) loading times
      - create a stadium
      - integration of mlbtv within the Show, meaning being able to play a live game and also watch a game at the same time with picture in picture or something like that.
