Re: MLB 20 The Show Wishlist!

One thing I'd like to add to my previous post:

      March to October
      • Allow us to use non-default rosters for this mode. Classic rosters, in particular, would be a good fit for this type of a single season playthrough.
MLB: San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics (Sell The Damn Team, Fisher!)
      NFL: San Francisco 49ers
      NHL: San Jose Sharks
      MLS: San Jose Earthquakes
      EPL: Brentford FC

RIP San Francisco Deltas | 2017 NASL Champions

Mine would be for RTTS in no particular order

1: As an outfielder being able to earn arm accuracy when you actually throw to a base and not just the cut off man as always seems to be the case for me.

2: Bring back the ability to level up our RTTS characters by buying stubs and using them to level like we had in previous games.

3: The option to stay down in the minor leagues longer if we wish, regardless of stats or play if we so wish.

Re: MLB 20 The Show Wishlist!

I'm not gonna touch on franchise since most of what I'd want is already covered in this thread and previous years' threads. So no sense in rehashing all that.

          Ratings

-Pitcher velocities should just be the mph and not a 0-99 scale so we can get more accurate velocity representations and how they relate to one another.

-Pitch velocities need to be more in line with what we see from pitchers today. For a non-SCEA player, changeups max at 84 mph but there are quite a few people currently in the minors (with no MLB experience or have not been in the MLB in the past season or two) who have a changeup that is faster than 84 mph. Also, if differentiating between fastball and change as their currently portrayed is too hard for players or devs to deal with, then add a small color flash to represent the general pitch-type (red: fastball, green: breaking ball, blue: off-speed). It only needs to last right around 1/4-second at the release or the pitch.

-Pitchers should have split per/9 ratings for LHH and RHH since most pitchers perform better against one side of the plate than others.

-Ratings for break should be split into break and movement. Some pitchers have curves that have a huge, looping movement while others break a lot more sharply. For example, look at the looping effect of Kershaw's curve compared to Godley's (when it's working right and not all over the place). The both share a similar level of movement (dropping over 18") but Godley's is flatter at the start and drops of the table compared to the looping of Kershaw's.

-Catchers should have ratings for framing pitches and calling pitches. That would help set catchers known for those aspects apart for other defensive catchers, like how Posey frames the zone or how Mathis (during his time in AZ) was the best at getting "Greinke to Greink."

-Defense should be split from just fielding to fielding and range. Some fielders are great with the glove but have a limited range while others may not be as great at flashing the leather but can cover a greater distance.

-Durability should be apart from an injury rating and a recovery rating. Some players can play daily until they end up with an injury that seems to happen frequently while others may just need a day off every 3-4 days but are hardly ever injured. Also some players tend to bounce back from a hefty workload quicker than others.

          Sliders

-We should have sliders for things like progression and regression within the RTTS and Franchise modes. This would help with seeing certain players have drops in ratings by nearly 20 points in some cases. An example I see a lot is Verlander. He's pretty much the class of the AL right now but in-game, he drops from his high-80s/low-90s into the low-70s just because he's 34+.

          RTTS

-The ability to edit numbers is needed at bare minimum for roster editing in RTTS. My freshly called-up player isn't going to take 52 from CC just because I'm a 72 and CC's a 66 because of age-related, massive regression or my newly-signed FA is going to take 27 from Trout even though I'm a 93 to his 92 OVR. If devs don't want to give us editing powers, then when we switch teams, there should be a pop-up that says this number is taken/retired and then we can choose a new one from the list of available numbers instead of either pushing the next highest available number on me or the player who currently wears that number.

-Having the archetypes is not too bad, but there should either be more variety in the main ones or just allow for a few flex points to be a little different within the archetype (like Vlad Jr vs Cris Carter where both would fall under a pure power archetype but flex points can make a difference as Vlad Jr has a better contact rating while Carter either hits a HR, pops up, or strikes out).

-There should be a secondary archetype that is completely position-dependent. Pitchers could have a secondary archetype of "Worm-burner" (groundball specialist), "Whiff-Master" (strike out king), "Same-ses" (master of the LvL or RvR matchup), etc to go with the main archetypes of Flamethrower, Control Specialist, or Plain Filthy. Catchers could have "Master Framer" (better at getting calls just off the edges), "Pitcher Whisperer" (excels at calling games to get the most out of the pitcher), "Field Generalissimo" (controls the basepaths with corralling wayward pitches and gunning down runners). This could go on for each position.

Re: MLB 20 The Show Wishlist!

Pitch speeds: top at 103-105!!! Has to happen been years pitchers are throwing over 102mph.
No ratings just mph for pitchers. For example Verlander 93-99mph with 4SFB. Button sensitive or meter based. In the red 97-99 no matter High or low in the zone. Early release or green or yellow 93-95mph.

Pitchers vs LHH hits and HR
Pitchers vs RHH hits and HR ratings

More swing options: only 2 two handed swings. Maybe 3. And 4 one handed swings. No two players have the same swing. All should be able to be edited. Some players swing majority two handed but on very inside pitch they might follow thru one handed. Just way more swings and options to separate players styles.

HR Swings: add multiple no doubt swings for individual players. Also the ability to equip say Mike Trout’s HR swing to Bellinger or vise verse. Everyone that has a signature finish should be able to be equipped to any player. Not just the 20 or 30 generic ones that look so silly and unrealistic. Add 50more realistic HR animations.

            Necklaces and jerseys that move.
Unbuttoned jerseys. Acuna’s necklace, Harper no undershirt unbuttoned.

Able to start Franchise based off real life standings and stats at any point in the season. Say start from Aug. 21 with Belly and Trout w/ 42 bombs and finish season and continue from there. Or at least finish a season if not franchise.

Able to edit SCEA players hair and beards.

Ability to record names of new players.

Better rating system for fielders arm strength. Don’t understand how current ratings work at all. Assists? For example Acuna started season at a 50 arm strength. Now is a 77. But in real life threw 99.1mph the other day. Hicks threw 105 a couple years ago and was in the 80’s. Something is terribly wrong with the stats rating. Make it max MPH. How hard does a 50 rating throw vs a 99 rating? Has to be MPH.

Would love to see arc types like a few requested on previous pages. To make stars stick out more and no two players look or feel the same.

Thanks for your efforts just really hope you guys keep putting time in to the small and realistic details. I’m an old franchise guy and will never ever play the RTTS stuff. I get it but it’s not what I come from and is not realistic. I want real sim and millions do as well. Keep up the good work!

I just got a PS4 and The Show again. I’m casual gamer who only plays a game or two on weekends so career features are irrelevant to me.

I would love to see Sony add more Classic Stadiums especially the Cookie Cutter stadiums of the 70s like Three Rivers, Riverfront, Veterans, Fulton County, and old Busch. Also Tiger Stadium and Old Comiskey Park. Also real Spring Training Stadiums. I’m partial to Florida being from there so some of those would be great.

Also they should take a page from NBA 2K and add Classic Teams too.

Franchise mode needs a general refresh. I almost don't care what they do as long as it's a bit different. Adding relocation or stadium creation would be awesome. More robust roster building (especially with trades - more players and multi-team deals) and player development would also be great. I'd also really like to see players have a bit more personality when it comes to contract negotiations, like simply refusing to re-sign so they can test the market.

They also really need to make it so purchasing a minor league contract puts the guy at the league minimum. It sucks having your top rookies or key call ups be angry because the game still has them making $80k.

I also think that, in generally, player development needs to be less random and retirements should be less pegged to age. It's weird seeing a guy with an 80+ overall and still putting up good stats retire at 34 due to performance because that's when the game decides his position is finished, but a reliever who hasn't played in the majors since before the game was released stick around until 39 and then only retire because of the free agent market.
