I have never accused you of being a fan boy and value your opinion and friendship both here and they real world.

I do think, and I believe I said so, that I love '19 and think its the pinnacle of the game. It plays the best game of Baseball they have ever put out.

I don't believe or support that they are limited by the console generation. Fundamentally at its core they have only removed options from offline play this generation. I am not bashing or saying that its broken, stale or what have you. But if we remove graphical improvement, including details and textures to parks etc.The physics model had improved, animations have improved, some AI logic has improved. But thats it. Not that these things don't immensely improve the game. But that have removed more features and content for offline play than they have added since last generation.

I am all for capitalism and its their game they can do whatever they like with it. But if you take '19 and compare it to '09? Yes '19 is a superior game in play on the field. But '09 had more features, more immersion, and more offliine modes and components that this generation has.

We are still dealing with legacy issues from last generation. There is nothing revolutionary about the control schemes. Nothing new to Franchise except a cumbersome financial layout and extending contracts.

I also don't buy the smaller development team or cycle either. I am not a fan of NBA 2k at all but at least they have developed their offline franchise modes and tried new things. Granted they are buried under pay walls and micro transactions. But at least they add new things to make modes grow and have new features and draws.

The Show has removed more from Franchise mode than they have added thru the years. That is simply just the truth.

The Show '19 IS the best its ever been, on the field and graphically and game play. But its feature set, in my opinion is very lacking as far as depth and immersion of offline career modes.

To me everything they have done this year is completely marketed to the DD crowd. Every month/week? has seemed to be a new Program (whatever those are) featuring a YouTuber or Twitch Streamer. All content that has been added has been to DD. The majority of Patches are aimed at tweaking or tuning DD. Yes some of these help/hurt Offline as well. But I don't believe that they have any intention of developing Franchise Mode further. I also don't believe the MTO was developed for Franchise Mode. I do believe it was initially developed as a way to monetize franchise mode, but not as an offline mode or addition to Franchise.

But time will tell, I agree.

I don't really care one way or the other but to put it in perspective, you can go to their facebook page and both of their main twitter accounts and scroll through hundreds of posts and every single one that's game related will be about DD. Their instagram page has absolutely nothing mentioned about franchise mode but all the other modes are listed and if you go to their forums at the show nation and add up how many pages of post there are in all the categories combined, minus DD, there are 245 pages. DD alone has 517. And I remember them saying one time "to clear the air" that DD is not their primary focus... ok, then what is?

I wonder why the glut of patches the last several weeks. I hope its because SDS got some much needed new hires. I guess I'll use it as optimism they will have more people to work on next years game. I guess I figured there would only be a couple patches from mid-August to October. but its seems there were double, or more, patches in less than a third of that time frame. I also figured most of the staff would already be swamped with a Show 20 workload they wouldn't be able to do this many patches

Perhaps they figure as they update the game on their end, however small, might as well pass it on to the gamers. I haven’t experienced a single problem with the patches, so it’s all good.

This game is going in the wrong direction in my opinion. The focus on DD is beyond annoying and ridiculous. Sony Partners program is a fraud and they do absolutely nothing to make this game better and I'll keep preaching that until things start changing.

I almost didn't even buy 19 this year, but I caved and helped with rosters. Haven't played The Show since 2K dropped and have focused all my time on Maximum Football now.

If the rumors are true about MTO being somehow integrated into Franchise mode for MLB 20 then I'm out. Won't even be a purchase for me and I'll stick it out with 19 and continue my fictional franchise.

It's sad and quite frankly pathetic it has come to this with the series. This used to be a game I would get excited for on a yearly basis and now it's to the point where I may not even buy the game again in the future. Damn shame really.........

I don't know if they are in RTTS or DD as I was in my franchise and just jumped to the edit player screen to see if they were there.



Social media is how they choose to market their game, instead of using forums such as OS or print. It's the new age these days to promote your product to a mass of people. I work for an electronic distributor that has been around for nearly 100 years and guess what, we market on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social media outlets. Its free marketing that reaches a high volume of people. Companies are using it as they would radio advertising years ago.



And how are they catering to the Twitch and Youtube crowd??? The game offline is as good of a sim as your going to find in sports games. I don't play online so I can't speak to that aspect. So how is the offline game degrading? Are you speaking about franchise mode? If so, the mode isn't being purposely neglected, as had been stated numerous times. Franchise mode is in a position on the PS4, where there isn't much else they can do until they reach new hardware. I've talked to the devs about this myself. They know what is wanted, they want to add what is wanted, but until we advance to the new console generation (2020), franchise mode isn't going to get the back of the box features that the community is anxiously waiting for.



I know....I know...I'm a SDS/Show fanboy who finds no fault. Whatever...but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you are incorrect in thinking that '19 will be the last great MLB The Show game released. I don't expect much change in terms of franchise mode next year other than under the hood changes in terms of logic and such, but I do believe that the community is going to be in for a surprise, a pleasant surprise, when we reach the first release of MLB The Show on the new generation of consoles.



Maybe I'm wrong and you're correct, but given their track record, for me personally with '17 being the only game I didn't really enjoy out of the box, I like the odds that I'm going to be right in my thinking.

If history repeats itself then Countryboy is correct in that we should get a decent Franchise Mode update on the PS5. The problem is it will only be updated once.

They only truly updated the mode one time on the PS4 and that was it’s first year. The mode was then mostly untouched after that.

So let’s hope they get it right if they do update it. Because they will likely be it for the following 5+ years.

This game is going in the wrong direction in my opinion. The focus on DD is beyond annoying and ridiculous. Sony Partners program is a fraud and they do absolutely nothing to make this game better and I'll keep preaching that until things start changing.

I almost didn't even buy 19 this year, but I caved and helped with rosters. Haven't played The Show since 2K dropped and have focused all my time on Maximum Football now.

Absolutely agree! There just have too many red flags for me this year, which is very telling as to which direction we can expect this to go in future years. Sadly, if MTO is the franchise of the future, I'm out. They have essentially killed immersion within the current franchise mode with their lack of quality roster updates and adding rookies with no options (how in the world are you supposed to get immersed when you have to waive every rookie you call up and want to send down?) and not allowing face scanned rookies to be imported/exported.



Beyond that, commentary and legacy issues have made it so stale. The only way I can live with it right now is gameplay is still solid in general and I just love baseball too much. All this DD and card crap makes me cringe.

The cleats are in the game. They are under the UNDER ARMOUR HARPER 3 and next to the NEW BALANCE 4040V4 METAL.


And I'm sorry but I don't understand the correlation between them sharing their social media pages and the direction the game is going. They have for a few years now, promoted and showed everything about the game through social media, including developer streams prior to the game releasing and as they release content and patches/updates during the season.

Its the path they have chosen to release information/updates about their game.

Do they ever mentioned the things they removed from the game such as season mode among other things? If not that is being deceptive and not telling EVERYTHING about the game.


This is why I never buy a game developers prerelease hype and do not preorder.

Have to agree with my friend Showtyme on a lot of this here. Combined myself and him have probably spent more hours on editing rosters and franchise play than most people who have the game. The fact that we dont play DD shouldnt make a difference as the fact that our rosters alone have generated over 50,000 downloads... that my friends is a lot of voices and a lot of content. I have had some positive conversations with some of the devs the last few months so I am hoping guys like us will have more input with certain features and feedback going into the next game. Take Madden for example yes they focus on MUT but weekly they focus on roster updates, rating increases and missing players, they accept feedback make changes and have someone accessible who will get most things fixed when theres an issue. Its not a good look when you download a sony roster and all season they havent fixed mistakes that have been there.
