Pretty selfish viewpoint. The only good thing to come out is the thousands of people that haven't been able to play the game will be able to

Re: MLB The Show Coming to Additional Console Platforms, as early as 2021
I'm not sure why they would be doing this for any reason beyond the game is no longer selling on a level that makes the MLB license worth its cost. The Xbox version will pull a nice profit; not sure about a Switch version though. Not really a platform with a lot of people who will care much about it. And that's not even thinking about the corners they'll have to cut. I would have to think a PC version is coming at some point, maybe the first year will just be the consoles or they just haven't confirmed it yet for 2021. People keep mentioning it as a "Play Anywhere" title for Xbox.....that's definitely not happening. That's only Microsoft published games. Forza, Gears, Halo, etc. No way will it be for a 3rd party game published by their competitor. Anyway I don't really see why they wouldn't release it on PC if it's coming to the other platforms too; seems like a pretty simple decision. It would do well.
Anyway, would be pretty phenomenal to play this on PC at 4k/60+fps. If it can be modded that would of course be fantastic icing on the cake, but let's just get a confirmation that it's coming first.Comment

Re: MLB The Show Coming to Additional Console Platforms, as early as 2021
I believe there is going to be more that comes from this story.
From what I am reading MLB wanted Sony to release on other platforms to keep the license. Sony has relented and agreed. I do not believe that this was done voluntarily, but were stiff armed. No 1st party developers want to develop a game for competing systems. Would Sony be happy if the game out sold the playstation brand on xbox and nintendo? It not only would cut their profit, but weaken their brand.
Some people have begun speculating that the studio may get spun off...
Here is one article on it.https://news.yahoo.com/baseball-fran...102126075.html

I dont think it will be good for the status quo for SDS remaining employed by Sony. I do believe in the long run it will be good for the developers to make the game they want and not the one dictated by Sony. I could be wrong. but I dont think so.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: MLB The Show Coming to Additional Console Platforms, as early as 2021
Totally understand a lot of the issues being raised in this thread, but as a complete doom-and-gloom person (about the current sports gaming landscape), I have to say that this is one of the rare pieces of news that I'm super-happy about. I've always preferred the Xbox (for whatever reason...mostly the controller to be honest), but no legit baseball game was always a major sore spot. So even though this is in the future, I just think it's great to hear it going multiplatform.
Now all we need is for college football, basketball, and NFL2K to come back, and I'll have no reason to ever post on these forums again!Comment

I hope so. I do not have the faith, that you do, that will be the case. I, of course, would love to be wrong. I guess time will tell.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Yup,the Show made ps4 an easy decision for me. I'm not saying now I'm definitely going xbox next gen, but I'll be paying attention to what they are doing and am open to switching.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: MLB The Show Coming to Additional Console Platforms, as early as 2021
I suspect San Diego Studios to be spun off at some point, and this announcement is just a precursor to that.
Looking at Wikipedia, The Show is the only game they've done the last few years. Sony doesn't produce any other sports games (Madden, 2K, etc., have their markets locked down) so maybe Sony is just getting out of sports altogether to focus on other titles. We're a long ways from the 989 days.
MLB pressuring Sony to go multi-platform doesn't make sense to me. I'm sure MLB wants a game on Xbox, but what is MLB's leverage? If you pull the license from Sony, there's no MLB game period.Comment
