Makes no difference to me. Unless there are some major improvements or signs of improvement to franchise mode MLB The Show won't even be on my radar to influence my decision. Plus there are so many other great games on PlayStation that i wouldn't even consider getting a xbox.

If they're going to PC, yes 100%. I won't be buying a PS5 because I'll instead invest in a gaming computer.
If no PC, I'll consider PS5 but I'm not sure if I wanna buy a console again for only one game.Comment

I went PS4 this gen after previously being a Xbox guy with the 360 and OG Xbox before that. I'm getting a PS5 next gen. I enjoy Sony's exclusives and play other games outside of The show.Comment

Re: OS Roundtable: Does MLB The Show Going Multi-Platform Change Your Next-Gen Consol
I'm most likely not even buying a next gen console. All the Xbox exclusive games are available on PC going forward and unless there are any "must play" exclusives on PS5, I doubt I will get that either. Therefor I'm not getting the Show next gen unless it comes to PC. I hope it does, mostly because I'm curious to see what the modding community could do with this game.Comment

Re: OS Roundtable: Does MLB The Show Going Multi-Platform Change Your Next-Gen Consol
I have to say I'm considering it. I was always and XBox guy until MVP Baseball got cancelled after 2005. I went a few years without a baseball game and eventually bought a Playstation 3 to play MLB The Show in 2008. After that it was a no-brainer for me to buy a Playstation 4. I was planning on buying a Playstation 5 over the new XBox simply because of MLB The Show. Now, I'm at least considering going back to my old favorite, XBox.Comment

Been a PS guy since the original.
Does not change my console plans. When I get a PS5 though remains to be seen.
I have far too many games yet still to play on my PS4

This means an even better product. SDS can get more staffing & developer's for this great product we love. Maybe more equipment brands especially.[emoji4]

Re: OS Roundtable: Does MLB The Show Going Multi-Platform Change Your Next-Gen Consol
I will most likely sit out the next gen for a couple years atleast. The quality of gaming has declined so much, it's left a sour taste in my mouth. There is absolutely no way I'm shelling out the money on a new system for the same garbage we get today. My gaming time is already dwindled down to maybe one day a week, if that. That is not worth the price of a new console for me. I'm hoping that'll change in a couple years, but I'm not holding my breath.Comment

this is what I believe too, only it'll take a couple years on multi platforms to benefit the PlayStation Show IMOOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Unlikely, though I won't rule it out. PS still has some other exclusives (and timed ones) that I just can't give up on.
There is, however, a better chance of me double-dipping on a potential Switch version later in a cycle after the price drops.Comment

Curious as to why you think that? Would assume it staying exclusive but giving rights to other developers would truly drive competition and ultimately a better product. That being said, i have no issues with SDS and think that MLBTS is the best thing to ever happen to console baseball.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: OS Roundtable: Does MLB The Show Going Multi-Platform Change Your Next-Gen Consol
I've read articles that separate studios could port the game over to other systems.
Although they will sell more units does that translate into much larger profits?
I'm sure they will experience an uptick, but baseball is probably the 3rd most popular sport.
Many baseball fans bought a playstation system to play. How many fans will now purchase on their preferred system? Sony would then have to pay royalties to Microsoft and/or Nintendo cutting into the profit. We do not know what the liscence cost to renew. All of those factors will play into the bottom line increase.
The MLB Show team has grown, but it appears most of the new devs have been hired to work on DD. I don't see that changing.
