I say this to say, if they went all out and got the minor league players in, they did not just import generic player models. They might not have face scans, but they at least tried to create their likeness, so it seems. As someone who usually waits for the OSFM Rosters, this would be huge.

I only care that the high profile, close to MLB ready talent, look close to 100% accurate. However, if even lower level players are in the game, out of the box, and their likeness is more or less accurate, I am okay with that, considering someone will put up a more accurate version of them on the vault anyway when/if they make it to MLB.

So if at the very least we have right skin tone, body type, and facial hair....this would be more than anyone would have even asked for, let alone expected.
Agree but my own issue with this is would they then be editable? if they did this. some of the face guys like to edit and make changes to improve it if they don't make it editable then we have a problem.

I don't think they would have enough room too get 900 more facescans either on the disk etc. so if they make them like the roster guys on here do it would save so much work. we can only hope.

It would still be unprecedented to have a player like that in the game at launch, AFAIK. Even though he's Rule 5 and is pretty much a lock for the 25-man, his service time clock has not yet started, and won't until opening day. That's always been the rule - they can't be in the game if they have no service time - in other words, haven't played a regular season game. We saw it with Pete Alonso and Vlad Jr. among others last year - they weren't playable at launch and were added later along with their audio after they played an MLB game. (though Vlad's case is a little different since he didn't get called up until late April).

THAT'S why this is so interesting - it just hasn't happened before.
Shohei ohtani was on the base roster before playing in a major league game. He is the only exception that I can remember. Maybe it has something to with the fact that he was from the Japanese leagues, because of I remember correctly I think that Japanese pitcher the mariners signed last year was on the base roster at release as well.

But no doubt, it would be a huge addition

Had a pretty candid discussion with Mills in his stream chat tonight on this topic. And I believe he's still as in the dark on this as we are, otherwise I don't think he would have EVER tweeted this:

It's interesting that Wade is actually more of a smoking gun than Jimenez is - I was so fixated on his name in the UI that I didn't realize his full likeness on the mound was actually shown in the trailer.

re: Ohtani....okay, I'll give you that one. Everyone knew he was coming though, and maybe SDS negotiated for his rights separately to ensure he'd be in at launch?

No he wasn't on the base roster at all.

It's funny with the Ohtani thing because at the time there was a strong possibility that he would have started in the minors that was the talk at the time. what was most annoying was they put all the effort into getting him in the game and didn't give him true 2 way player type, they went into that effort of getting someone so unique but didn't put a key feature that he was bringing into the game that everyone was talking about at the time, the next year they half fixed it by having some hidden setting where he DHs when he is not pitching the day before or after. there were work arounds for both years though.

This would be MASSIVE for the game. Would get more people to wanna play franchise again. Online franchise being gone(hopefully back) nobody really going to that mode much. But...... if it’s a for sure thing oh boy give me Deivi Garcia n Jasson Dominguez all night long please!

In terms of carry over. Your rosters will not change. All those OSFM minor leaguers will still be there. This will not affect carry over saves if this is simply “real minor league” players are now a part of the “out of the box” roster.

It’s actually interesting you mention those two examples. If the game does have “full minors” this year, I wonder How it will handle those younger international prospects. In years past it was impossible to create a player under age 18. The work around I would use was to change their age back to 18 every year until they were actually 18.

I don’t see some of these younger international prospects being in the game unfortunately, but I would be blown away if they were included

Unless there's a face scan, I think they will be editable. Now, I didn't have last year's game, but I know in 18, they had major league guys, with service time, who didn't have their real faces in the game. Their faces were editable. As a Reds fan, I remember Amir Garrett being one of them.

Sorry if this was mentioned but one other thing to note is Pitcher Trevor Oaks that is also in the video has MLB time, but did not have MLB time in 2019 (meaning be previously wouldn’t be able to be in MLB 20). So maybe we won’t have to worry about those missing players from Showtyme’s list.

This really has me excited for franchise! With the addition of real minor leaguers, it makes me think that maybe they some other systems have been improved. Why go through all the time to include these players if they won't be used in the majors that often. Hopefully there will be some improvements to the injury system in the game. Unfortunately players get injured, it's part of the game. If this is improved upon, maybe we'll actually see these guys in the majors more frequently. Plus an overhaul of the call-up system would be appreciated as well. Finally, with real minor leaguers in franchise it might actually bring some excitement to the rule 5 draft. With improved stat tracking for minor leaguers (what level, where they played, and carry over stats from season to season), another layer of depth in regards to roster building. If they do this right it could really add a ton to the franchise experience.

Hoping for created teams so we can make single A teams if we choose.

Think we'll find out for sure about this on Wednesday, when the trailer rewind is done?

Or not until the Franchise stream on 2/13?

I think there's a pretty good chance it'll be on the rewind if it's a real thing. If it is some sort of horrible accident - like mistakenly having ridin's (converted for '20) roster active while they were capturing sizzle - I think we'd hear about that even before the rewind. There's probably legal ramifications there (with MLB, not ridin/another roster maker) that they would not want to have go on for too long.

Looking toward the future and PS5, I'm hoping they'll add some sort of "crowdsourced" face scanning system if they don't have the resources to do all the minor leaguers themselves.

Does anyone think that face scanning will be a feature anytime soon for the show?

Where we can take a minor leaguer photo and scan him into the game?

                                That would be so cool.
