Re: OS Roundtable: How You Feeling About MLB The Show 20 Right Now?
I just finished a game with 19. The game is simply awesome.
So how am I feeling? I want to see the franchise stream. That is really the big thing for me because I am so happy with gameplay on 19.
It really is a wait and see. But that is such a testament to how fantastic 19 has been for me.Comment

It would be nice to get the band back together for an online league. Would have to dust off the Wheelhouse Gang logo. It will be refreshing to have an outlet to play with like minded individuals who know how to play the sport instead of the savage life in DD arena.
Also hoping the customization that they are talking about includes adjusting season length to franchise.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Very excited! Have bought this game since Eric Chavez was on the cover. That being said, I’m hoping that the relocating of teams will also allow us to create a ballpark. Would suck to create a new team with a new logo, but have to choose a stadium that already exists with that stadiums respective logoComment

Re: OS Roundtable: How You Feeling About MLB The Show 20 Right Now?
For me it comes down to one thing. Injuries in MoM games. For whatever reason this has not worked the past 2 years and to be honest it having to through the transactions and manually put guys in the DL really killed alot of the fun.
I can live with long relievers throwing 80 pitches in a blowout or dopey managerial moves by the CPU but if they don't fix the injury bug then I would probably not buy.
I do though have great hope that with the Franchise mode changes they have made this year that this has been fixed. I'll wait and see and when someone posts that it is fixed (And they will be rest assured) then I am all in.Comment

I'd have been satisfied if the devs hadn't really done much new with MLB 20 and are instead focused on The Show 21 and delivering a truly revolutionary game on the PS5. They've actually announced quite a bit more than I was expecting.Comment

$ales finally went through the roof for Sony with 19, not only becoming SDS' best seller in the series but even surpassing the 15 year old record MVP 2004 set. according to NPD. things are only going to get better from here on out, as long as the economy stays red-hot. there is now room at the table for both Diamond Dynasty and Franchise mode. dancing days are here again.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: OS Roundtable: How You Feeling About MLB The Show 20 Right Now?
I pre-ordered months ago because I have gleaned 100s of hours of gameplay time from MLB 18 and 19. Even with the extra cash for the high-end pre-order edition, it is still money incredibly well-spent for me and I'll continue to support studios who produce good games (like MLB) and not support studios who produce low-quality ones (like NBA 2k and NHL).
But I really am curious about some things with this year's title:
Franchise: Unless it comes with full expansion/retraction options, rebranding does nothing for me. The minors thing has me intrigued a bit and depending on what it is, it could be a serious add. My bigger hopes rest on maybe SDS doing some roster logic work under the hood with the new 26 man rosters and whatever the heck this minors thing is. Anything else they do will be gravy for me.
Gameplay: one thing....don't mess it up. Don't cater to the H2H guys; make them learn how to play the game better. If the game is as solid here as 19 was, I'll be happy. But I have to confess, their continued intrigue towards "competitive" gaming makes me nervous. Every sports game (sans Madden and only because it has a dedicated, dumbed-down mode for comp) has tanked gameplay-wise due to involvement with comp sports. This is by far the most-concerning thing for me with the series right now.
MtO: They've hinted at more options and stuff to do in this mode. OK, great. But they also mentioned a "new reward structure". Sorry...but ugh...UNLESS this mode allows for customization of rosters and sliders (while disabling rewards). If it does have that option, this could be a great ancillary mode. If not, it's going to again be wasted (for me at least) by having it tied to rewards. Even money-hungry 2k took a step back and patched the game to allow for users to play MyGM with customized rosters and so on (while disabling the online stuff).
DD: 18 catered heavily to offline grinding, 19 catered too heavily to the online crowd. They need to balance things. The 11th inning program offered a nice mix of stat grinding, moments, conquest, and online to allow people to progress. I'd like to see that kind of mix again. As I enjoy the mode offline only, I'd like to see that portion of the game made more interesting again (without it being the complete slog that 18 was for the online kiddies).
Presentation: More Heidi. Nuff said. More story-telling about what is going on in your franchise in-game would be a massive step forward. I think expanding Heidi's role here could be a way of doing that (while reducing the redundancies in her lines she had in 19).
I'm intrigued about where things could go this year and will be watching the upcoming streams very closely.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: OS Roundtable: How You Feeling About MLB The Show 20 Right Now?
I'm 47. I absolutely LOVE 19. It's THE GREATEST sports title I've EVER played in my tons of gaming years (from about every system ever made). I will purchase 20 on day 1. For me, it's like a movie: I don't care about the critics. If I love the genre, I'm going to go watch. Same is true with this game. I don't care about hidden eggs, player models not changing or anything else - 20 will definitely be as good as 19, and maybe a bit better. And that's good enough for me...
My only wish: more retro ballparks and more real-life minor league ballparks. I want to be able to go back and play in older ballparks from the 80's (like old cavernous Cleveland stadium) and many others. It adds immersion to the historical files from the vault.
I appreciate all the input here, and I read each post. But I guess maybe I'm a simpler person than most and I can't wait for 20 to arrive!STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Gameplay..if they fix cpu baserunning I’m all in. Franchise seems to be intriguing with the “ create a team location logo option”. Hoping I can customize schedule in my Franchise..
Who am I kidding ...I already preordered and will be at my local GameStop as soon as they open on the 17th.
I’m a sucker for this game!Comment

Re: OS Roundtable: How You Feeling About MLB The Show 20 Right Now?
My biggest complaints about 19 all relate to the way franchise mode progresses over time. Annoyed at how scouting works. Annoyed at the draft. Annoyed at prospect generation. Annoyed at how teams fill their minor leagues with 35-year-old has beens and never weres instead of trying to develop young talent. Annoyed that developing young talent isn’t more in-depth and I can pretty much tell with 95% certainty whether a drafted prospect will ever make the big leagues.
None of those annoyances prevent me from enjoying the game, but whether I buy 20 will probably depend on whether any of the franchise mode updates affect this sort of thing. I suspect they won’t.Comment
