Interesting to see how this new engine will affect “Player Lock” controlled infielders! Have not been able to make tags at second base in years! Just to sit back and watch the automatic animation go into play and the runner be called safe when there was plenty of time to make a tag.

New animations huh? I'll believe it when I see it, because I see the same old ones all the time as it is. I am not a fan of perfect-perfect or all the defense gimmicks, which thankfully with auto fielding won't have to show on screen. My excitement is slowly fading, to be honest.

Agreed Vets of the MLB series will be looking for those new base running animations mentioned! Especially since all of the home plate slides in the trailer looked identical from all of the years prior.

I'm still skeptical because I don't understand how the most widely animation in baseball has been overlooked! The common high five when scoring a run or crossing the plate. I guess it's not important LOL I don't know!

I absolutely can't stand the home plate slide animations!

Hate to be that guy, but unless it’s an old build, Kauffman looks identical to last year. Can’t help but be frustrated when I post and repost evidence of the same errors and omissions every year and they don’t change. Maybe there’s a chance it’s an old build still. Here’s hoping.

Well clearly it's not mimicking barrels exactly now as no groundball can ever be considered one, so I'll have to walk that speculation back a bit. But it doesn't mean that the system isn't modeled after the kind of results that barrel-type contact produces.

Also....I would be VERY surprised if every "perfect grounder" is an automatic hit. I would think that they'd have the lowest base hit chance out of the perfect-perfect trio. Perfect Flyballs probably have the best chance of the 3 because they're likely HR's unless hit to dead CF with a low-power hitter - these will probably be actual "barrels" and many of those leave the yard.

Hopefully we'll get a full explanation Thursday.

This thread kinda blew up while I was at work, so I apologize if anything I've said has been confirmed/denied already.

I’ve been asking for years for a better (or any) pickoff system. Why not throw in a little pickoff meter for the pitcher AND the runner? A little bit like the catcher meter when on button accuracy and you want to throw out a runner. A well executed pickoff could change the whole game in crucial situation.

I feel you. Citizens Bank Park is constantly ignored every year because even as Ramone himself stated in a stream 2 years ago...."no one cares about the Phillies."

This. Looked pretty much like MLB 19. I do like the hitting improvements however.

I think i'm going to hold on a day one purchase and stick with MLB 19.

I might be in the minority, but with all the new, slick animations for getting rid of the ball even quicker, I really hope they drastically limit these depending on the fielders ability as pretty much every infielder is already far too slick as it is. Pretty much every first baseman is already making unbelievable snags, perfect spin throws to second and turning double plays that would rank as some of the best I've ever seen in real life, so if they get even slicker it'll be a bit ridiculous.

People (the online community mainly) moaned so much about anything not being hit well resulting in a hit that they've ended up making all the infielders into superhumans. Infield hits may be infuriating, but they are a massive part of real baseball, but almost a non-event in recent show games. Same for beating out double plays, in real life it's pretty tough to turn a double play with a quick runner, unless it's rocketed at someone playing double play depth, whereas it's not even uncommon on the recent games to have a quick runner doubled up and not even be halfway to first base.

You could sort of fix it at least in franchise by nerfing the reactions slider, but in a lot of modes the sliders are fixed and we're stuck with these ninjas in the infield, gobbling up everything except screamers that perfectly dissect the infielders, making perfect throws from off balance positions.

Join the club I feel the same way about Citizens Bank Park.

There are a lot of things that need updating and by the looks of the trailers Citizens Bank Park is once again getting the shaft!

I have sent in info on what needs to be updated many years in a row now and Citizens Bank Park still looks the same.

Why is it so hard for SDS to get updated info on how Citizens Bank Park currently looks?

I hate to complain because I think SDS are the best at what they do but as a Phillies fan it's really starting to piss me off lol

I guess I am going to have to wait for MLB The Show 21 on PS5 when all the stadiums will most likely be completely redone. I just hope they get it right then.
