Re: MLB The Show 20 Livstream: Perfect-Perfect Timing Etc.
They tend to retain nearly all their legends year to year. It’s pretty likely that Wood and Prior are going to be in 20, especially with the emphasis on legends from the 90’s and 2000’s this year.

17:26: Ramone draws the parallel to Barrels (though it's not exactly the same), and says they're seeing around the same batting averages as that contact quality produces.
I'm so happy that they're modeling this in the game.
Also, remember those charts at the end were compiled from predominantly endgame DD hitters (they showed that in a box at the bottom left of one of them) - if anything, perfect-perfect frequency and the hits coming from them is gonna be lower than these numbers when you take normal MLB-talent level players (i.e franchise and other offline play).Comment

No specific mention that max speed is x mph, but they kept mentioning 102 as the top level that Chapman, Hicks, and others were hitting.
My understanding is that its for both.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Now if it was the CPU that did that then I would be upset because MLB The Show 20 CPU will now have more aggressive base runners according to the SDS developer in the first stream today.
We will see how that turns out.Last edited by tnixen; 02-06-2020, 09:50 PM.Comment

Did they mention anything about more swing and misses? As that was at the route of most of the problems last year. They geared it to try and get realistic batting averages in a game where no one ever struck out, so obviously that meant an awful lot of terrible BABIP.Comment

Great stuff, so interesting to see how they measure everything and compare it to the real MLB stats.
Customizable pci is a very nice touch and the new layout gives you a quick idea of the vision/contact the player has and if its more a contact or a power hitter. Great job.
What I would like to see more of is faul tips in the glove. I think this happens way too little in the game compared to real life.
Oh and last thing, almost every online game I have a hit with my pitcher. Verlander almost went deep twice a few games back. Some of this maybe has to do with the fact people online tend to throw easy fastballs to pitchers and I take advantage but still their succes rate seems a bit off still."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

It's just odd to me. It doesn't actually do anything different than a perfect swing any other year?Do it. (Release The Show for PC)Comment

Damnit man I'm trying to hold off for the ps5. This looking pretty good though. I don't think it's been said enough. Real ads are huge. Seeing the Chik fila cow in Atlanta. The Coke bottle in San Francisco. Delta in NYY. Man those are big parts of the ballpark. I love they got that in.
New velocities and break
Real ads
Better fielding
Perfect perfect.
Full minors
Definitely not just a roster update I'm impressed.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Livstream: Perfect-Perfect Timing Etc.
also of interest, during the perfect perfect testing, the average overall of the batter was a 96, with an average contact rating of 111 and an average power rating of 97. which would lead me to believe its possible the homerun rate on perfect perfect will be less than the 6% during the beta and even doubles will probably be lower than the 10% during the beta. I figure singles are going to be more than the 12% success during beta testing, once lower power and contact players are totalled in.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
