Re: I want to Punish the Astros in my Franchise
doing full 30 team control, ill have them be selecting the 2 bottom rated prospects in the 1st 2 rounds in 2020 ans 2021 as this is close enough to their actual punishment and I'll let Alvarez walk in FA as a storyline in my franchise. Outside of that, not sure what else id doOakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

Re: I want to Punish the Astros in my Franchise
I'm not an Astros fan. What they did was dirty and they deserve the ridicule. But as a baseball fan they are not the only ones to get caught using an elaborate sign stealing operation. The Red Sox in 17 using Apple watches, and the Yanks too. The Red Sox in 18 are under investigation for using the video room. I'm a Mets fan and I'm pretty certain if the Astros didn't get caught then Beltran would have brought that system to NYC. The Phillies of 08 era were notorious for using cell phones to relay signs seen from the outfield. There were a couple others around that time who also were engaged in that, but the Phillies were the ones caught and MLB sent a fax to all teams to knock it off. The Braves and Cards front offices recently caught doing illegal acts. The whole steroid era. Mike Scott's scuff ball. Doc Gooden and Strawberry coked up while playing. Spitters. Joe Niekro's emery board. The White Sox using the scoreboard to tip pitches. The list is huge and I'd be surprised if there was a team that never did anything. So watching these constant posts/memes/threads pop up here and elsewhere is a bit much. The Astros might deserve it, but their fans don't and they're the ones on here reading this day in and out.
This is the current drama going on in Baseball. I felt like I wanted to do something in MY franchise in a VIDEO GAME that I thought would be, for me, an appropriate punishment in my FICTIONAL world. I am not nor have I attacked fans or even individual players. Its just something I felt like doing as more of an experiment than anything else. If Astros fans cant handle folks bashing their team for what will most likely be the whole season. Then they really need to either toughen up a bit or move on from public forums and opinions that differ from theirs.
This was't created to discuss quilt or innocence. Nor to lament the unfairness of Professional Baseball. I am trying something in MY game that will affect exactly ZERO people in the world and asked for some input and opinions. You know those things that seem to bother so many people?
I appreciate the input from those that actually wanted to participate in the discussion. ThanksIn Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: I want to Punish the Astros in my Franchise
Wow so much to unpack here. Sure there are plenty of teams and players that got caught doing "illegal" things. I am sure some folks out there would like to see punishments for cheating and breaking the rules to be both more stringent and less so at the same time. But that is really not relevant to the thread I started here.

Last season I did take away draft picks. The thought of using injuries as a form of player "suspension" didnt occur to me.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: I want to Punish the Astros in my Franchise
Bashing is one thing.
Mention of throwing at heads and just injuring people is another.
It is a video game. Correct. But the level of vitriol would make it seem that these players committed felonies and would be on the FBI Most Dangerous List. Knock the picks, do whatever. As a fan, that’s great and all. I just got irked when there was mention of throwing at heads. These are video game characters, no harm no foul. But it’s not hard to see the level of vitriol out there in real life and the myriad of deranged comments and death threats these players and families have gotten in real life.

LOL you are reading way to much into this thread and really just need to take a breath and move on. I'm taking about a GAME mechanic to use as a simulated suspension. Nowhere in this thread have I expressed hatred or actually injuring real people. Nor have a advocated for REAL violence or harm done to anybody.
If there was a way to actually suspend a player in this game I would use that mechanic. But there isn't so I have to use what is available.
So please take your drama and virtue signaling elsewhere. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. But there are no actual facts to base your opinion on relating to the contents of this discussion.Last edited by Bullit; 03-05-2020, 01:24 PM.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: I want to Punish the Astro's in my Franchise
looking at Astros fan Tony Adams 'bangs chart' list, Marwin , Springer, Beltran, Bregman & Yuli were the recipients of 120-147 bangs. except for Beltran, they should get 80 game suspensions/injured list (IMO). Correa, Marisnick, McCann & Gattis received 45-97 bangs. I assume McCann & Gattis wont be in the Show this year, but the other 2 should get 40 game suspensions/injured list. Altuve, Aoki, Tyler White, Derek Fisher,Reddick, JD Davis, Stassi, Maybin & Centeno, 13-28 bangs, 20 game suspension/injured list. AJ Reed 4 bangs, 10 game suspension/injured list. Tony Kemp, 0 bangs, 0 suspension.
I really like this idea. I’m going to plan on putting these players on injured list when i start my Franchise

Re: I want to Punish the Astros in my Franchise
For me, as it is my video game, I will be punishing every player who was on the 2017 Astros team, even if they are now on another team. Seems fair to me. Not sure yet how long, but it will be more than a week, perhaps a few months. Like Bullit said, if there was a way to suspend them that would suffice in my virtual world.

I never said you couldn't post the upteenth Astros bashing thread this month. I'm saying it's gotten old and stale. You created this public thread about the Astros and that's why I'm venting about it here. Nothing personal.
This is the home stretch to the release. It's the time for positivity and optimism. Opening day is coming. Every team has a great storyline waiting to happen.
The Nats after losing their franchise player struggled along in 2019 with some injuries and a brutal bullpen and got hot starting with a huge comeback against my beloved Mets, get the WC and shut out the Brewers. They beat the Dodgers, the most talented team in baseball, in 5. They swept the Cards to win the pennant. Then the underdogs faced the Houston powerhouse, caught wind of a sign stealing scheme and beat it, winning their first WS title in 7 games. Now they have the opportunity to prove it wasn't a fluke. It's a new year and they lost another franchise free agent, but they're still dangerous. They're a stacked team in a stacked division. Can they repeat?
That's a story! And I'm hardly seeing anyone talk about it because of the Astros.Comment

The topics you are seeming to be concerned with ARE being talked about in the Real World Baseball threads. I am trying to have a conversation with like minded folks about a Fictional Video Game Franchise. How hard is this to grasp.
If this thread offends you so much. You know there is no rule that you have to read a thread that you do not have any valid input to add or have a conversation about. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Personally, I think ALL of them should have received the Pete Rose/Shoeless Joe Jackson treatment and been indefinitely suspended/banned from baseball. If it's good enough for Pete and Shoeless Joe, it's good enough for these cheaters too.Comment
