What exactly do K/9, H/9, etc. means as attributes? I understand what they represent but surely these are statistics that are driven by a pitchers Velocity, Break, reptoire, etc. rather than being attributes themselves?

They actually are their own attributes. K/9 and H/9 directly influence the hitter's plate coverage indicator, as well as the under the hood calculations that influence CPU success in the same way. So, a hitter can have drastically different-looking PCI's depending on who the pitcher is, even when the pitchers are the same handedness - a higher H/9 pitcher will make the PCI smaller, forcing the batter to be more precise in order to make hard contact. K/9 relates more to Plate Vision, modifying the outer circle of the PCI.

The velocity and break ratings matter too of course, but those correspond to each individual pitch.

Not to me. 20 is like a polished 19. It plays a little bit better, feels a little bit better. But the needle didn't move very much from 19 to 20. I spent 40 and I am not really happy about it.

It's a good game. But nothing special imo. Franchise is virtually the same minus the new minor league rosters. But you could just download sets of those off the vault anyway. I'd save your 40.

Just wondering who has the most accurate rosters w/ gear updates to start the new season. Thanks

A coupe of quick questions about pitching:

                  1. Is there any reasoning behind the ordering of a pitcher's repertoire? Are they in order of best to worst? Most frequently used to least frequently used? Just in a random order?

                  2. What does the circular bar around each of the pitch buttons mean? They all seem to be at different levels and change over the course of a game but I'm not sure exactly what they're indicating.

                    1) Pitcher's repertoire is listed from best to worst

                    2) The circular bar is pitcher confidence in each pitch. This will fluctuate during the game depending on his success with the pitch

Awesome, thank you! A couple of quick follow ups if you happen to know the answers to these as well:

                      1. How is best to worst implemented in the game? If I throw my pitcher's best pitch, are his attributes, such as H/9, K/9, etc. higher than if I throw his worst?

                      2. Similar to the previous question, does the pitcher's confidence in his pitch affect his attributes whilst throwing the pitch? If so, does the same apply to energy?

                        1. Pitches have three individual attributes each. Velocity, control, and break. The per 9 stats are universal to all pitches. Side note: The order isn't law, especially as you start to move forward into multi-year franchises. The circle pitch can be just as good as x for some pitchers, and just because a pitcher has a certain pitch marked as their best doesn't mean that the other pitches have no chance to develop faster and better. The x pitch is most likely to remain the best pitch, but it is not a guarantee.

                        2. Yes, pitcher confidence can effect control most often, break fairly often, and velocity rarely. Confidence also can effect other attributes. Energy can also have a negative effect, but when that point happens can vary wildly based on a number of factors, and there is also a random element to it.

General rule of thumb though: You start losing effectiveness on fastballs 5 to 10 pitches before the energy bar turns yellow. Breaking balls lose effectiveness fairly early on but at a much slower rate overall, and in the long run stay more effective. You can notice a drop in break distance as soon as 20 pitches into a game (though I've seen it happen much later as well), but the lateness of said break can actually improve over the course of a game, so overall effectiveness has the potential to stay the same.

Is there a reason that batters check swing so often on breaking balls?

There have been so many occasions on which I've times my swing well, only for the batter to check it and get struck out. Then the swing feedback pops up saying that my timing was good.

I understand that a quick tap initiates a check swing, but I feel like I generally press the button the same way every swing and this has been happening a lot. Plus, it only seems to happen on curve balls and change ups.

dunno but it could just be that you have a split-second longer to decide if a slower pitch is going to wind up outside the zone. with a fastball you have less time to change your mind about swinging. though occasionally I do successfully check swing on a fastball. and it's incredibly gratifying. thank the maker for the small things

Is there an easier way to influence where you go in a trade in RTTS? For reference, I'm 23 and just finished a solid rookie campaign after spending a month in AA, Detroit called me up to be their starting CF. I'm at the John Kent phone call after the season cutscene, asking to be traded. I've got the slider way up and have had some success, but it's the same two teams each time.

Would changing my secondary positions open me up to a team in need of someone there? I never had a secondary other than RF, after playing 3 games there in AA. Would switching it to IF up my chances of going elsewhere?

                                Thanks.
