We have had a thread like this every year and it seems to vary greatly.

HDR should look absolutely stunning with this game. If your TV is set up correctly and it can handle HDR properly, it’s a no brainer.

If HDR looks worse (or washed out), something is off for sure.

I agree with your statement. But with my curved 65 inch Samsung it was the least appealing when compared to my Sony 50in and TCL 55 inch 6 series

          Well said.

Even on my fairly cheap TCL, enabling HDR makes a huge difference in terms of brighter and more vivid colors and a greater level of contrast. Turning it off looks really washed out in comparison.

Do you have any suggestions for what may be wrong?

Can anyone take a pic of their HDR Off and then ON? Would like to see a comparison, thanks.

HDR is pretty freaking sweet on every game i own that has it minus MLB the Show and Monster Hunter.

it's not my settings. i've been gaming for over 40yrs and always try to keep a top end monitor/tv and am obsessed with TV tech and my settings since the late 1970s.

so, i play with it off. i can deal better with the over-saturation than i can with the washed-out look.

For HDR users who really enjoy the look...what setting do you have the backlight set at?

For me when I played with HDR and sharpest setting the lag was terrible. Turn HDR off and stay on sharpest, the lag goes away.

When they first had HDR and the adjustment bar, it was easier for people to adjust the HDR depending on their TV.

With it gone, it either looks good on your tv or doesn’t unless your settings are off.

If you don’t think your settings are wrong, it might just be the game as I feel they removed the slider to meet in the middle. So some it looks great, some it looks bad.

I recommend checking out rtings if they have a calibration for your tv. You really need to have it calibrated yourself but the internet gave me a very good starting point.

Hopefully you can figure it out so you can enjoy it. The game is night and day when your HDR is working as intended.

I think maybe I’ve been confused between HDR and frame rate. Are these connected? I have a PS4 Pro and a 4K QLED. I’ve been playing with HDR on. However, sometimes I play on an Asus computer monitor that does not have HDR support. Is there a difference in frame rate between the two?

I find if HDR is off the colours pop but are a bit saturated, if HDR is on then it's a bit washed out. What do you use? Also, are you using balanced, sharper, faster?

The ps4 pro has a feature in the settings under screen options. You can calibrate your hdr. I have tried it and it does seem to work. Although I have it on, I'm really not blown away with the picture. It could be my tv. I have a samsung 7 series tv 2019 year.

Honestly it's not bad, just the colour don't pop like when HDR is off. However, I believe with HDR on, it looks more realistic so I think I'll stick with it on. My TV is a Sony 65" XBR630E.
