Re: HDR On or OFF ?
Here's the thing about HDR. Some TV's may say they are 4K HDR but do not actually have the capabilities to produce good or true HDR.
Find out the model of your TV and go to rtings.com. It will show you how your TV performs in HDR mode.
In order to get the best out of HDR, your TV needs to have a wide color gamut, 10-bit panel, and high peak brightness. Somewhere around 1,000 nits of peak brightness, give or take a little.
If this is not the case, then HDR will most likely look washed out.
As for settings, most TV's when using HDR will automatically default to the proper settings. A lot of them should be grey'd out. It should be on max brightness, max contrast, and you should always be playing in game mode with all post processing settings turned off.
If you have a TV with local dimming, that should be set to high. There might be a setting called something like X-tended dynamic range. Those settings should be on high. Other than than, other post-processing settings should be set to off.
Unfortunately The Show, Madden, NBA 2K don't have HDR sliders to adjust to our TV's settings. They are pretty much set to an average of a good HDR TV.
For example, I always have Dynamic Contrast set to off (on my TV it's called "Contrast Enhancer"). I had it on for the Last of Us Part 2, and it looked terrible. But on The Show, it helps a lot.
Having to switch settings between games is kind of a pain, but what are you going to do.Comment

HDR ON for me for sure. Originally I thought HDR off may be better but i was wrong...Comment

Re: HDR On or OFF ?
Fastest (best frame rate and smooth animations but lowest quality imagery)1080p
balanced (compromise of higher resolution and decent framerates) 1440p
sharper (true 4k at the cost of a lower framerate)2160P (4k)
I really don't think HDR plays into any of these settings either.Comment

Re: HDR On or OFF ?
Does anyone know specifically what the frame rate numbers are on a Pro? On my new 4K TV w/ 120hz, on sharper you can tell its low so id only use it if im watching CPU vs CPU games, but on balanced or especially sharper you can tell how smooth it really is.
I was playing a random game in Camden and had it set to sharper, and you could tell it wasnt really refreshing fast enough... But on faster, I could literally see the meter line move back and forth, not bouncing back and forth like you'd normally see. It was a mind-blowing experience, and I was hitting the line A LOT more than normal.PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment

Re: HDR On or OFF ?
Don't get me wrong, I want to see all games running at 240 hrz, I'm just pointing out that each new noticeable difference takes progressively more and more frames.
As far as the Show is concerned, most of the game will feel fantastic at my 75 - 80 threshold. The only aspect of the game I suspect that "needs" higher framerates is the look of the pitch as it comes in. I can imagine the 100 - 120 threshold being important for that, maybe even 170. But I highly doubt 240 would add much to the playing experience that the lower thresholds couldn't provide.
I know your display is 120 hrz and most of this information doesn't apply to you, I'm just trying to inform both your future purchases and the settings you might want to prioritize when PS5 comes out.Comment

Re: HDR On or OFF ?
I've always used HDR, I have a 4k TV and other games look great at full res with HDR on but The Show is a bit meh. I just recently switched the resolution to faster/HDR on and it's best the show has ever looked. On my TV at least HDR and faster resolution looks looks way more realistic. Some of the close ups on batter walk-ups have me staring in amazement as it just looks so life like. If it weren't for the commentary I probably could get someone who's not paying real close attention to think it's a real game."Listen son, you only have enough runs when you’re showering after a win."Comment
