Although the Orlando Dreamers (80-61) lost first place in their division, they have a stranglehold on a Wild Card spot and added to it with a 14-2 thrashing of the Atlanta Mallards (60-81). Atlanta scored the first two of the game but then Orlando jumped on them and didn't let up. They scored three in the 1st, two in the 2nd, three in the 3rd, and four in the 4th to bust this open.

    W: Buck Shauver (12-8, 3.51 EA) 9.0IP, 2 E, 12 K
    L: Jeremy Lilly (8-10, 3.76 ERA) 2.2IP, 8 ER, 2 K

    ORL: Jack North 5-5, 4 RBI (52), 3 R (45), 2B (24)
    ORL: Nate Painter 3-5, 3 RBI (96), 2 R (87), 2 2B (31)
    ATL: Zac Lamb: 2-4, R (73), 2B (13), 10 game hitting streak

Hey I appreciate it. It’s actually all just shapes filled with gradients, text boxes, images from the game quick selected with photoshop, and logos from the internet put together in excel. There’s probably easier ways to do it, but that’s what I figured out and it works for me so that’s what I role with.

First full month of games are in the books. At 18-14 the Padres trail the Rockies by a half game where they are tied for second with the Dodgers.

Though struggling on offense where they rank dead last in runs, homeruns, OBP and SLG %. The defense and pitching has been the order of the day. The Padres are 1st in the league when it comes to ERA, Errors and fielding %, Strikeouts and top 5 in HRs Allowed and Shutouts. The one knock on defense is blown saves where they rank 29th with 8 blown saves so far in the early days of the season.

Kole Robertson ( 4-0, 0.71 ERA, 77 K's, 0.43 WHIP in 51 innings) looks like a man intent on winning a second consecutive Cy Young. Alec Thigpen (3-2, 1.69 ERA, 49 K's, 0.73 WHIP in 48 innings) is no slouch either and if he was on any other team would be their ace. Greg Dickerson and Joel O'Malley may only have a combined 3-2 record but have notched 10 quality starts through 12 appearances. At 32 Kyle Johnson (1-3, 5.40 ERA in 35 innings) is the old man in the starting rotation and for the second consecutive year is struggling on the mound and has found himself at the center of quite a few trade rumors.

              Minor League Report:
At only 20 years of age over at first Bo Sparks is getting his self noticed after being called up to El Paso (AAA) in the off-season. In April he posted a .347 BA, hitting 4 homeruns while driving in 20 RBI and drawing 11 walks.

Last years 8th pick of the draft from the University of Miami, 22 year old outfielder Solomon Chappell (.388 BA, 2 HR, 11 RBI 7 doubles and 3 steals) has been on fire for the Sod Poodles(AA). This is just what the Padres front office had hoped as projections had him set for being major league ready by the 2023 or 24 season.

On one side, it was a feel good story. On the other, it was a tragedy. The good came for the Minnesota Knights (58-87), who picked up an 11-2 victory behind the four-hit ML debut of Doug Meadows. The bad was for the Dallas Mustangs (72-73), who saw their slim playoff hopes fall apart. They fell behind 3-0 in the 1st, which was doable if they escaped there. However, they gave up a three-run jack to backup catcher Angel Fernandez. A 6-0 1st inning hole was too deep to climb out of.

                W: Kaden Drake (10-11, 4.16 ERA) 7.0IP, 2 ER, 8 K
                L: Rodney O'Malley (9-13, 5.70 ERA) 0.2IP, 6 ER, 0 K

                MIN: Doug Meadows: 4-5, RBI (1), R (1), 2 2B (2)
                MIN: Derek Hills: 3-4, HR (27), 4 RBI (80), 2 R (65), 2B (25)
                DAL: Ty Alexander: 1-4, 2 RBI (69), 2B (20)

So I still haven't gotten around to starting up a "hands off" MiLB only franchise but have played 5 AAA and 5 AA games in my Padres franchise. I have to say how amazing the fictional roster is even at those levels. The baseball is great as you can really see the difference in quality and probably the most realistic gameplay I've seen from The Show. It's been a ton of fun. Some of the guys are just amazing for their respective tiers but you know that they'd get crushed against better competition and others just have that something special that you know will translate if/when they move up the ranks.

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread

My fictional Braves have made it to September. Still languising in last place, 17 games under .500 (though the good news is that we've basically hovered around .500 the last month or two). (Note: I play every pitch of every game)

Paul Keys won NL POTM honors for August with a blistering .340 Average with 14 HRs and 36 RBIs. He's now front-and-center in the MVP discussion after a wretched beginning to the year. He's right around a .300 average for the year and is second in the league in HRs...behind teammate Mason Franklin, who is now up to 41 HRs on the season. The two will be battling it out for the NL HR crown...though a couple of other guys (Colt Snow, Rex West, and Chuck Souza) are very much in the mix.

                        A few player notes:

                        - 2B Caleb Graybow was lost for the year with an arm injury in late August.
                        - SP Aaron Reynolds has been placed on irrevocable waivers as we try to send him down to AAA. He's due for arbitration this off-season and we have no intention of offering it.
                        - Rookie SP Lucas Morse had a solid month since being called-up. Still wobbly with command, but we've been overall very impressed. Surprisingly, his rumored big bat has yet to show-up in-game.
                        - The Braves coaching staff will be working closely with surprise rookie catcher Stan Coffey. They've been very unhappy with his framing ability and will be focusing heavily on his fielding. Former Marlin Devi Ruiz will get the bulk of the ABs for the remainder of the year as the pitching staff has responded well to him behind the dish. (I legit forgot that catcher framing is encompassed in the fielding rating - Coffey's is a 53. I kept wondering why I'd have games that I wasn't getting any calls on the edge...then put 2 and 2 together - they were usually Coffey's starts.)

We're just playing out the string now, but have a few storylines to focus on:

                        - The aforementioned HR crown battle between Mason Franklin and Paul Keys. This one will be fun to watch.
                        - Playing spoiler. The Mets/Marlins/Phillies are all battling it out in the NL East. We hate all of them and will try to force as many losses on them as we can.
                        - Getting the young arms as much time as possible. Wasiliewski, Jameson, and Morse all need to be evaluated.

I'm hoping to be done with Year 1 by the end of this month. We'll dive straight into the off-season and Year 2 afterwards.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

The minor leagues have been and always will be a big focus for me in the creation of Bacon’s Fictional Roster. This is what makes a franchise much more playable as seasons progress.

So far in this early season the Sooners are destroying every team the face, including the beat down I just suffered in game 1. Game 2 I pitched a gem with my ace, but once turning it over to the bullpen it quickly went down hill and I went from up 2-0 to losing the game 7-2 in the 8th and 9th innings.

Playoff implications everywhere! The Sacramento Leopards (77-70) came in leading the NL West by one game, while the Milwaukee Barrelmen (75-70) say 2.0GB of the AL Wild Card spot. Colt Snow put Sacramento on the board with a monster 480-foot two-run homer in the 1st. Milwaukee answered with two of their own. In fact, by the 4th inning, it was tied at 4 thanks to Milwaukee always responding to a Sacramento run. That changed with a ridiculous 6th winning. Milwaukee scored five times and hit FOUR triples in the inning. It led to an 11-5 win.

                                Things losing ballclubs do....

My Braves were up last night 12-6 on the Nats going into the 9th. We did an awesome job in overcoming a 6-0 deficit, just kept smashing singles/doubles and scoring runs. The pitching did a great job in relief of our starter, who got hammered early.

But the 9th inning...welp, seven runs later...we suffered the ignominy of a 13-12 loss. The Nats punished every mistake pitch (and I was not focused, just trying to finish-off the game) and I was just way too slow in getting fresh relievers in there. I hadn't had a crazy game like that in ages...we were due.

I'm sure the next one will be like a 2-1 game...how it always seems to work.
