Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
My poor Braves are sitting at 54-71 on the year and are decidedly riding out the rest of the season.
Following our last game, Wong Yong Lee's poor injury-prone tendency finally caught up with him and he was diagnosed with a fractured right hand. He was placed on the 60-day IL and will miss the remainder of the season. It's a big blow to our outfield defensively (one that is needed as we cycle through our young pitching staff). Our minors have been inundated with injuries in the OF as well, limiting our potential call-up options. We decided to move light-hitting utility guy Titus Diggs to the 40-man and brought him up. He'll provide needed support across the diamond and we'll see if he's "just a guy" or someone with some upside.
The urge to start simming games is creeping-in, but I'm holding-fast. We ARE going to complete all 162 before heading into the offseason. We need these games to hopefully get us some award winners on the offensive side of the ball to help our GM rating a little.
Once we hit September, we plan on re-calling Davis Wasiliewski and Troy Jameson in hopes that one or both can show some signs of life at the major league level (both got rocked in their first stints in Atlanta).
Going to be a rough ride....Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Thanks! Coming up with all the names and laying out all the divisions, plus digging thru the vault and then making the uniforms... If I had to venture a guess I'd say probably in the neighborhood of 20 or so hours. It was totally worth it though, as I get excited each time a new team pops up so I can check out who's on the team and how the uniforms look in-game.

I'm on 17, playing with my Stros. We're sitting at 6 - 7 right now and our bats have been terrible. I think we're second to last in average. Pitching has been pretty good. I can't get my ace Blondie Pena going to save my life. My bullpen is top notch. Hopefully we can get the bats going. Riske and Hack Stephenson need to pull their weight. Thanks Bacon!

I know this thread is mainly used to showcase Bacon's roster, but I thought I would show how the IBU season is goingso far.
I've been simulating and playing a lot more games over the past few days, and been having a lot of fun playing with all 30 of my teams. I put together some magazine type graphics to document the season.
I will be broadcasting both the Homerun Derby and All Star Game on my channel next week. (July 13 & 14).

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
What a topsy-turvy game this was. The Kekambas (80-61) came in hot, having won four straight and nine of their last ten. They quickly fell behind 4-0 in the 1st and things looked bleak. They chipped away, getting one back in the 2nd and two in the 3rd. They tied the game and took the lead in the 5th with three runs. However, they immediately allowed the Dinos (63-79) to tie it on a two-out single. The game stayed 6-6 until the nine, when Dallas Shackelford roped a single to score Ty Alexander. The team was helped by their good luck charm, deliver Jesus Ventura, who moved to 8-0 with each win coming after the All-Star break when the team rallied to 1st place.
W: Jesus Venture (8-0, 4.35 ERA) 1.0IP, 0ER, K
L: Rafael Quevedo (2-7, 4.11 ERA) 1.1IP, ER, 2 K
NJ: Dallas Shackelford: 2-4, 4 RBI (19), R (20), 2B (5)
NJ: Ty Alexander 3-5, 3 R (60), 2 2B (27)
PIT: Tony Nunez: 2-5, 2 RBI (89), R (68), 2B (38)

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
I just downloaded this roster for the first time last week, but I am STRUGGLING trying to decide which team to start a Franchise with. I am generally drawn to middle of the road teams, a team where you have to decide whether to add a couple pieces to make a run now, or sell and start fresh, but its not clear at the beginning of the season which way you need to go. But its so hard to tell because I don't know anything about these teams. Also I don't know how much to make of the team overalls because they all look fairly evenly matched. Any thoughts or help is appreciated!!!Comment

I will tell you this....Washington Nationals (bacon's) are pretty balanced with speed and power and pitching....if you want a speedy team with sneaky pop (dodson) go with san Diego....if you want pure speed not a lot of pop...tampa bay....If you like a team that should be really good and has a guy (mayfield ) that could be a 40/40 guy but in a TOUGH division go with Oakland....Pure mashing power little speed would be texas....hope that helps....believe me I have done my research and tried different teams...this is my 2 centsComment

My best piece of advice. Pick a team where maybe there is a player or two that looks like fun to you or maybe a team that has unis/stadium that you normally wouldn't touch with stock rosters. Then just go and enjoy the 162 game journey (and if lucky, the playoffs). I HIGHLY recommend simulating as little as possible to maximize the enjoyment of this roster.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

1. 30 Team control. Play one game as each team thru Spring Training. You will notice yourself starting to gravitate towards a team and narrowing it down naturally. There are some teams you just don't want to play with. I grew up an O' Fan. I just have no interest playing anybody else in the AL East no matter what roster I use. So that eliminates 4 teams right there.
2. Use Post Season Mode. Pick teams from the AL and NL that you want to play. Rank them in your desire to play with them ie leat likely put in Wild Card spots etc. Whoever wins the "World Series" is your team.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread
I know if I do an alternate franchise that I want to do an AL team, so I could adapt it to "whichever AL team goes to the WS".
I'll probably play each game as the "high seed" (i.e. preferred team) since I have a pretty well-balanced setup. It would be interesting to see if I "lose out" to a less-preferred team....Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
