Another random MiLB game. IronPigs v. Stripers Two view options:

    Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/videos/855948076
    or
    YT - https://youtu.be/sitilDgF5Js

Most interesting thing that happened was inadverntantly loading the bases, after that happened I think moral dropped and there was no way I would turn it around.

While I don't play The Show as much I'm still loving the rosters and the smoothness of 4k60fps on PS5 is just a joy to watch.

After completing my 162 Real Life Marathon and winning th WS I’ man starting a fun league with Bacon’s rosters and doing my DD Team the Portland Rhinos in place of the Oakland A’s.

What are some things I should look for/do with these rosters? I know a lot of people thoroughly enjoy them, what about it makes it that fun?

For me the game play is so much better than with the stock rosters or for that matter any that I have downloaded. They are much more balanced and for a lack of a better word have character. There really is something to be said about not having a preconceived notions of what teams are good or bad. You really have to pay attention and learn the players on your team and others. Scouting takes on a whole new importance when you don't know anybody in the league, at all!!

The audio is also a whole lot better in my opinion. With the Bacon Roster you don't have any of the audio that is tied to specific players. You know the "his hair is perfect" line you hear every dam game. Have not heard it once in my fictional franchise. The commentary with this Roster is all stat based and historical performance. Therefore you really don't get the game repetition that you get with the "Real" Rosters.

Cpu management also seems to be a whole lot more balanced and realistic. Which brings up another plus over real rosters. You don't have any pre conceived notion of unrealistic trades or the "that wouldn't happen in real life" syndrome.

Honestly, after spending most of last year and all of this year with Bacons Roster. I don't think I could ever go back to a "real" world franchise. This is that much better in my opinion.

I hope you enjoy this roster. Whatever you get out of it. We always welcome new members into the world of Bacon is Better. Please post your experiences in the Fictional Franchise Thread. We all love reading and sharing. I am going to be working on it more to really push the community forward/

            1. Dig deep into ratings and consider every rating we have, including hitter hot zones. Do not gloss over OVRs in judging players.
            2. Scout your opponents. Take the time to look at ratings and hot zones.
            3. Don't judge the usability of players based on overalls and potentials. Yes, elite players are elite; but there are a ton of useful D potential 65 OVR guys if you know how to use them.
            4. Don't have expectations. Some seemingly good players are flawed, some seemingly mediocre players will play above expectations. Try to keep an even keel as you grind through those first 80 games. Learn your players, your team and what they are good at.
            5. I recommend playing with single-team control and with GM contracts turned on. This will amp-up the immersion as you will have to consider your own future as the team's GM. After evaluating your roster; set up a rough sketch of your 3 year plan. You may adjust on the fly; but know when you want to 'go for it' and when you need to take a step back to build for next year.
            6. I suggest playing it 'honest' with the CPU on trades. Don't just milk the absolute best you can. As you make trades, as yourself if YOU would do it. Use trades that not only help you but also can set up some fun storylines. I always say that if it doesn't hurt you to make a particular deal; it was too much in your favor...sweeten the pot for them just a little.
            7. One 'maintenance' thing. I would suggest that prior to the start of Spring Training each year beginning in year 2 that you go through SPs for each team. Pick one SP per team to edit (no ground rules, just whomever you think makes sense) and give that SP 5 extra points of stamina. This will counter the mode's stamina drop and make whomever you choose a little more valuable without going overboard.
            8. You're going to see the occasional odd decision. Anthropomorphize it and give it a story. If really needed for competitive reasons, do a quick player edit to even things out a hair.

Finally...embrace your ignorance and have fun. You may find yourself one day really wanting that Michael Mayfield jersey
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread

That’s some great insight guys thank you!
I have been thoroughly enjoying the myself over the first month (play 1 sim 5). I find Im learning my guys’ swings and am getting better with them. It’s been a lot of fun going into these games and not having to worry about accurate rosters or lineups, I’ve had them set to Auto which is very unlike me. This is simply about playing the game and having fun after my very realistic Franchise.

There’s a lot of studs in this roster that have been killing it for me but also a lot of Platoon players that I’ve been able to learn their strengths and weaknesses (pinch hit for Irvin with Kemp against a Lefty and hit a walkoff 2 run homerun)

I’m going to look more at the prospects and contract details for some players to get a better feel for what’s coming. Thanks for the feedback!

I can't wait until The Show '21 drops I'm ready to jump back into my Padres franchise. The last things I did were re-sign players and sign some free agents and a bit of roster admin stuff. Then made the winter meetings my final save point. There are some big names on the move around the league good 'ol Woody Rockwell still hasn't retired I think he's on the Rays AA team at this point.

Beginning of May in My Cubs Franchise(24-14). Going into L.A to take on the Dodgers(22-14) and came away with a 4-0 win. But the really really great thing was I got my first no hitter in The Show and I've been playing since 09!

Wow!! Just wow is all I can say. After sitting there for hours deciding on what team i wanted to be, i finally decided on the Tigers. Opening Day vs the Indians and I think i just played the craziest game ive ever had in all of my years playing the Show.

My SP (99 overall) Ethan Kintzler gave up 3 solo bombs to go down 3-1 after jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Then around the 5th inning, for the first time in my Show career, i went BACK TO BACK TO BACK to take a 4-3 lead! Eventually went up 5-4, only to give up a game tying homer in the 8th to make it 5-5. I took a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth with a pinch hit double. And then in the bottom of the ninth, it went:

                              Strikeout
                              Single (pinch runner speed guy)
                              Steals second
                              Pop out
Threw a curveball in dirt, runner advanced to third
2-2 count with my pitcher who throws 100...I throw a splitter in the dirt to get him to chase...PASSED BALL and the GAME IS TIED.

I then went on to give up 3 straight singles in the bottom of the 10th (two to guys who were 94 and 97 speed) and the Indians walked it off on me, 7-6.

Absolutely unbelievable game. Ive never played a game like that with normal rosters. I noticed game animations ive never seen before, and i noticed RATINGS MATTER. Thanks again to Bacon for creating these rosters, its the lords work and has revitalized the game for me!!
