Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread

6 more games finshed. The brooms will remain in the closet for the Division Series matchups. because my run of bad luck continues except in the Red Sox v Twins series. Apparently those are the only teams I have strong success with. Well at least I'm learning some new players. Most of the games so far have been close. Couple random highlights linked below.

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread

So I started a franchise with these rosters and did a fantasy draft. I did not draft myself but letter the computer simulate. Here is how my team ended up:

      CF/DH Karl Price
      SS Tony Nunez
      3B Willy Benavides
2B Speedy McGee (I renamed him Crash because I wanted the game to say his first name)
      1B Fernando Sanchez
      RF Casey Cain
      LF Pedro Soria
      C Tobi Tabata

      Bench
      OF Evan Brenner
      SS Dezmond Lazzeri
      3B Teddy Jefferson
OF Logan Hunter (going off memory here, but he is our top rated prospect)
      C Marcus Fernandez

      SP
      Kole Robertson
      Tadahito Takatsu
      Marty Melankon
      Cody Hall
      Fernando Cabrera

      RP/CP
      Alex Burke
      Austin Farmer
      Ray Gentry
      Edwin Barzilla
      Juan Pedroza
      Ian West
      Eric Lynn

I may be missing a few names as I am going off the top of my head here. The farm system is pretty bare. Very few A rated prospects. Top prospect is Logan Hunter who is in the majors as a reserve/platoon OFer. My next highest rated prospect I believe is a closer. I think everyone else is basically a C. So this is a team in “win now” mode. I extended Melankon (2 years) and Tony Nunez (3 years) to deals beyond this year. This team, to me, looks like a team that has 3-4 years to win a WS before blowing it up so I am treating it as such.

One thing I’ve noticed on this roster is how specialized guys are. A guy like Evan Brenner is better defensively than Karl Price in the OF and a pretty darn good hitter against lefties, but not really worth starting over some other guys against righties. Then there’s a guy like Teddy Jefferson – 35 year old veteran who has a ton of power against righties, not great with average against either side of the plate….but that power keeps him on a roster.

I may do another franchise with the base rosters without a fantasy draft. I like that the Red Sox are rated so low. It might be fun to take them and rebuild them.

Either way – LOVE this roster and super excited to dive into this franchise a bit more. No matter what happens with carryovers I’ll be playing this roster for a long time to come.

Enjoy Crash McGee, he is by far the most bi-polar player on my team.

Re: MLB The Show 20: Fictional Franchise Progress Thread

May 29th in my Cubs Franchise, 1.5 games up on the Reds and play them in a 4 game series at Wrigley. Reds take 3 of 4 and are now up 0.5 on Cubs. My offense still anemic, but now my bullpen is falling apart. Ugh! Blew late inning leads in 3 of the 4 games!

June 2 and the mighty Orioles (35-25) 3rd in MLB with 87 HR's come into Wrigley for a quick 2 game set. Cubs get swept! Up 3 in the 9th in game 2, bring in my stud closer Mario Oquendo, who has 23 saves and a sub 2.00 era only to have him give up 3 and the Orioles tie the game and go on to win in 15 innings.

Only good thing going for me is the Reds also lose and Cubs still only 0.5 out. Milwaukee has gone 6-4 in their last 10 and are now only 2 behind. And suddenly the Pirates join the race going 8-2 and are 6.5 GB.

          <html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><link href="http://dynasties.operationsports.com/css/osdyn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"></head><body><table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" class="osdyn" width="325"><tr class="masthead_alt"><td bgcolor="#0F4871" colspan="4"><span style="color:#FFF">MLB Standings - Updated: Jun 3, 2020</span></td></tr><tr class="stathead"><td width="55%">NL CENTRAL</td><td align="right" width="15%">W</td><td align="right" width="15%">L</td><td align="right" width="15%">GB</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Cincinnati Reds </td><td align="right">37</td><td align="right">25</td><td align="right" class="active">--</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Chicago Cubs</td><td align="right">37</td><td align="right">26</td><td align="right" class="active">0.5</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>Milwaukee Brewers</td><td align="right">35</td><td align="right">27</td><td align="right" class="active">2.0</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>Pittsburgh Pirates</td><td align="right">30</td><td align="right">31</td><td align="right" class="active">6.5</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>St. Louis Cardinals</td><td align="right">23</td><td align="right">39</td><td align="right" class="active">14.0</td></tr></table></body></html>

Now a 9 game road trip, 4 at Reds and 3 at the Phillies(38-22), finally catch a breather with 2 in St.Louis. Although who knows what can happen.

Most fun I've had in a franchise!

My current Brewers franchise is off to a rough start. I have a team ERA of .285 but have started 0-4. Been out scored 11- 4 in 4 games . Just can’t get the bats going. Pitching and defense has been solid. Still having a blast and look forward to getting that offense going!

I started a franchise with the Tigers using this roster set. I have started 2-2 with a nice variety of games. I will keep everyone updated with the progress as I plan to play this chise for an extended time.

I’m also not opposed to streaming if there is some interest in watching it.

I'd definitely like to watch if you do go that route and I'd help hype it a bit if you have a consistent schedule.

Think I'm going to finish out this postseason mode then start up the Padres franchise again regardless of what happens with rosters for '21. If rosters do carry over I'll pick up '21 and do a minors only franchise or something like I attempted earlier but either way continue with the Padess in '20. Either way I can't give up on the Padres franchise I'm just too invested.

I prefer some commentary as it helps with the understanding of what you are doing or trying to do with the team, but it is definitely not necessary. I just figure if you are not going to talk about what's going on, why wouldn't I just watch a CPU vs CPU game.

I have a mic so I definitely plan on talking and interacting with everyone. Working on figuring out when will be the best time for me to stream (I work full time and am currently working towards my business degree so time is limited) I’m thinking I will start this weekend. Once I have a plan I will update everyone

Here's my Kings v. Rockies game from yesterday. It included a strange play in the 7th(?) that I really hadn't seen before.

Nearing the end of my first season as I'm just about to enter September baseball.

So I started the 2022 season of my Padres franchise. It's spring training and it''s like hanging out with good friends you haven't seen in a while. I'll make a detailed list with the goings on from the off season but it's good to be back.
