      Opening Day At Beautiful Wrigley Field

      Game 1:
      The home opener had newly acquired Kirby Pace who came over from the Dodgers taking the mound in game 1. Pace gave up 3 earned runs in 6 innings. The Cubs bullpen however, would ruin Pace's debut for the Cubs. Tracy Stewart would come into the 8th trying to keep the game tied at 3, but he was wild, walked 3 and gave up 1 very big hit, a Grand Slam to the Pirates 3B Vernon Anthony. The Pirates would go on to win 8-3, The Cubs 2nd loss in a row.

      Game 2:
      Boy did the Cubs bats wake up in this one! Tyler Reynolds on the mound, went 5 innings, 3 earned runs on 8 hits and 4 k's. Not too bad for the 5th starter. But the real Story was 1B Brandon Bowers, he would belt 2HR and drive in 7RBI as the Cubs crushed the Pirates 15-4! Newly inked Bryce Lewis(LF) went 4/5 as well.

      Game 3:
      Edwin Rodriguez(1-0) took the mound in the rubber game for the north siders. He was dominating! Pirates had no chance. Rodriguez went the distance in a 3-1 win for the Cubs. Gave up 1 run, 5H, 1BB and 15k's! So far this season he has pitched 16 innings, allowed only 1 run and struck out 22! Boy is the front office glad they got his deal done!

        I’m playing a franchise with the Marlins (now the Raleigh Capitols) and I have 1B Derrick Shaw (switch hitter with tons of power) he’s a real beast.

          Chicago Cubs (4-2) vs Arizona Diamondbacks (4-3)

          Game 1: W 3-1

          Tanner Wood(0-0) on to make his second start of the season has a win elude him again. Wood pitched a solid 7 innings only giving up 1 earned run and striking out 6. Cubs Down 1-0 in the bottom of the 8th, 2B Jon Olson would tie the game on his first HR of the season! This would send the game to extra innings. The Cubs pen kept the D'backs at bay, then in the bottom of the 11th Brandon Bowers came through again with a Game Winning 2 run HR(4)! He would go on to have a monster series!

          Game 2: W 12-8

          Casey Lockheart(1-1) was hoping for some better luck this game, he got the loss last time out despite only giving up 1 run in 8 innings. Well, the Cubs hitters had his back! Lockheart went only 5 innings giving up 7 earned runs but got the win! In a back & forth game the Cubs out clobbered the D'backs mostly due to Bryce Lewis(LF) and Brandon Bowers(1B). Both went 4/5 with 3RBI. Each had HR's as well. The bullpen had a second straight impressive game allowing only 1 run in 4 innings. D'backs starter James Middleton couldn't make it out of the 3rd after giving up 5 earned runs and walking 3.

          Game 3: W 7-2

          Kirby Pace(1-0) got his first win as a Cub thanks to you know who, Brandon Bowers. Bowers opened the scoring in the 1st with an RBI double. Then in the 3rd, he belted a 2 run HR(6) giving him 19 RBI on the season and the Cubs a 3-0 lead. In the 6th with the Cubs up 5-0, Pace gave up 2 solo HR's and was taken out. He had 3k's and 1 BB in 5-2/3 innings. The Bullpen was impressive again shutting the D'backs down, a couple insurance runs in the 8th gave the Cubs their 5th win in a row and the first series sweep of the season!

            Trouble in the Padres Club House

            There appears to be trouble brewing in the Padres clubhouse early in the season. Reports are coming in that manager Willie Peterson maybe on the way out regardless of the teams results come end of the season. Peterson will be out of contract come seasons end and the teams inconsistent results are troubling and that has many fans wondering about the skippers future. Despite a slight turn around that has the Padres trending back up towards .500 (6-7 3rd NL West) it's said that quite a few of the star players and front office are unhappy with the coaching staff. As an organization the Friars haven't reached the playoffs since 2006 and haven't had a winning season since 2010, Peterson could find himself the first casualties of the new front office. Fans as well as many in the organization believe that consistent winning seasons and division titles are well within reach.

            ================

            Arrrgh, I'm going to chop Atlanta's Chuck Souza in the throat if he ever homers against me again. That HR celebration is too much. LOL

            ================

            Also sorry if this is off topic but do you guys play any of the minor league games. If so how many and how do you decide which games to play. Was thinking maybe playin on the Padres off days. Thoughts?

              Playing a franchise with the Marlins (now the Raleigh Capitols in Capitol Field). Loving this team. Started out 1-9, then 8-15, then 14-24, now winning 4 straight I’m 18-24. Braves were 12-0 and I swept them 4 straight. I made some small trades to get flexibility off bench (which were basically all RH hitters). Traded 3B Flynn to the Red Sox for a few prospects, mainly Freddy Ordonez. Loving this guy, he’s great vs. RHP and to top it off he plays 3B, 1B, and C. My C is pretty weak and he’s stepped in and playing basically every day. Super clutch, has hit 2 game winning HRs and one was a pinch hit 11th GW.

              I traded my CP Love who had 4 blown saves in April (plus big salary/4 years left) to the Dodgers for SP Villegas (knuckleballer). He’s leading the NL in ERA. I have to say what most say about Bacons rosters, once you play with them you don’t go back to the real ones. Great job Bacon, you really did your thing with these. Much appreciated ✌🏼

                Late Game Magic

                =======================

                Finally the Padres bats wake up a bit as they hope this is the start of something. Through the first 13 games of the season they've only hit 3 homers all courtesy of one man... outfielder Will Sweet. Finally in what would end up as San Diego's second consecutive extra inning affair the line up is proving that maybe just maybe they can clear the wall. After being down 5-2 against the Giants, catcher Bruce Greene (.353) blasts a laser just over the left center wall his first of the year. The 12th inning the Friars give up what could have ended the comeback attempt. With the score now 6-5 in the bottom of the inning Rolando Rodriguez (.163) who is struggling at the plate blasts a 2-run shot over the right field wall to grab his first homer of the season in spectacular walk-off glory. The Padres are now 7-7.

                  Ken, tell us what you know about this move.

                  "Thanks Greg, well I talked to Cubs GM Cal Varson about this pickup, he told me the Cubs really liked the velocity of this kids arm.
                  He also said this was a minor move to try and re-stock the minors and that Sherwood was a work in progress and doesn't see him on the Major League club any time soon."

                    100% this! I love my team and I am totally invested in it! This is the most fun with the Show franchise I have had in a long time!

                    BTW, Brandon Bowers who is a complete stud for me is originally in the Cubs roster as Frankie Fernandez. All I changed was his name and face because him and the right fielder looked the same and I kept getting them confused. Attribute wise he is as bacon created.

                        Breaking News: Hitting Coach McClory Fired!

                        BleacherReport.com - Late Sunday evening San Diego parted ways with hitting coach Patrick McClory whose contract was to expire at seasons end. San Diego is currently the worst performing team when it comes to stepping to the plate. The Padres currently rank at or near the bottom in several offensive categories:

                        BA - .211 BA (30th)
                        Runs - 56 (29th)
                        Hits - 117 (30th)
                        HR - 6 (30th)

                        A source close to the front office said that the new GM was already displeased with the teams offensive performance but expected to let McClory's contract run it's course but the game earlier in the day expedited his exit. As the Padres were no hit by Giants pitcher Tadahito Takatsu. The only reason Takatsu didn't record a perfect game was Padres shortstop Dylan Netzel was hit by a pitch in the 5th inning.

                        We talked to Padres fan The San Diego Chicken who fumed "We should fire the entire coaching staff but this is a good start. The only reason we even have a winning record (9-8) is because of our pitching which isn't even that strong. Eventually that's going to fall apart as well without some changes. Good Riddance to McClory!"

                        Prior to Tuesday nights game against the Rockies, 42 year old Nigel Byrne was announced as the interim hitting coach for the remainder of the season and any talks of making the position permanent will come after evaluating the the teams performance come seasons end.

                        ===========================

                        Alright now with the story portion of the post over. I have never wanted to hit restart so bad in my life. I can't believe I gave up a no-hitter! It took all the self control in the world not to give the game the digital middle finger and say NOT TODAY! lol.

                          Chicago Cubs 7-2 @ Pittsburgh Pirates 3-9

                          Game 1:

                          Tyler Reynolds(2-0) took the mound in game one of this four game series. The Pirates jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on Bruce Rosenthal's 2 run HR(3). The Cubs would tie it up in the 5th and take the lead for good in the 6th with the help of Logan Wagner's 3 run HR(1). Final was 8-2

                          Game 2:

                          Cubs ace Edwin Rodriguez(3-0) looked to duplicate his last outing against the Bucs with 15k's, but the Pirates had other plans. Rodriguez was tagged for 3 runs although 2 scored on a bases loaded throwing error which tied it up in the 6th. Rodriguez was pulled but did have 9k's. The Cubs bats would tack on 3 more runs giving the Cubs a 6-3 win.

                          Game 3:

                          Tanner Wood(0-0) pitching well so far but can't seem to catch a break and get a win this season. Well with the Cubs up 3-0 in the 7th, Wood was taken out and handing the ball to the Jekyll & Hyde bullpen. Wood would see his lead and hopes for his first win vanish when Tracy Stewart(1-0 8.59 era) came in and promptly let the Pirates tie things up. The game would go 15 innings and the Cubs came out on top with a bloop hit off a diving shortstops glove! 4-3 final

                          Game 4:

                          Casey Lockheart (2-1) took the mound in game 4 , looking for the sweep. With the 15 inning marathon the night before and a 12:30 start today, the Cubs played some backups. Willy Gonzalez, the Speedy super utility guy would take advantage of the start and help the Cubs grab an early lead in the 2nd inning with a grand slam! The Cubs were up 8-0 but the shaky pen let the Pirates back in giving up 5 in the last 2 innings. With the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 9th, the Cubs would call upon a tired closer in Mario Oquendo to try and shut the door. Oquendo came through for his 4th save and the Cubs win 8-5. This would be their 9th win in a row!

                          The Cubs(11-2) are currently in first place by 0.5 over the Reds(10-2)

                            These rosters are phenomenal. I have played with 80 percent of teams and the hardest thing is picking a team lol. I’ve settled between the Marlins or A’s and can wait to start. The only thing I don’t like is the sill
                            Homerun celebrations which I can change but other then that this is fantastic. Great work and thank you!

                              Hovering around the .500 mark is both exciting and frustrating at the same time. Just being average where any result is possible. Based on the initial setup of team with the roster I have and not having made any transactions I'm performing to expectations. Still with every loss I wonder is it the team I have, do I just suck at the game, is it just the ups and downs of a long season. Being someone who never sims games it magnifies things since I'm only near the end of April. Guess that's how real players and managers feel though, always having to remember it's a long season and anything can happen.

                                I'm on the opposite end. Im 12-2 with my Cubs. I play with Mike Lowes sliders on Legend and tweaked human solid hits down and I still get good contact. Maybe because I haven't played any real good teams yet? Did my team just start out hot? I'm waiting for the bottom to drop out any day! lol! I have to say, the Reds are keeping up, glad I'm playing good now or my team would be about 5/6 out already. Still having a blast!
