    Re: Manager Jackets?

It seems like my user controlled manager always wears a jacket but sometimes the cpu manage doesn't.

Connie Mack always wore a suit. That had to be hot in the summer. He didn't believe the manager should wear a uniform which is probably the correct way to do it. No other pro sport has the manager in uniform.

Top 10 TV market that already has a team. Any teams share of that market is going to be A) taking away from another team's market size, or B) smaller than markets like Charlotte, Portland, Raleigh, Nashville, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, or Austin to name a few. How many extra fans/viewers is MLB gaining by going to Oakland vs an entirely new market?

Also if Oakland gets a new team I doubt they will build on the Howard Terminal site as that didn't make sense for the city. That was used by the owner to worm his way out of the city. Each demand was met by Oakland so he invented new things so he could force his move out of there.
Even if they didn't build at the Terminal, let's say they build across the street from the Coliseum. Oracle Park is just 15 minutes from the Coliseum. Fremont and San Jose are further away, but they tried the former and the Giants blocked the latter.

The Bay Area is the 10th biggest market. New York is 1, LA is 2, Chicago is 3, and those 3 markets (and the Bay Area for now in baseball) are the only ones with multiple franchises in any of the major sports. There's a reason for that. The Bay Area is never getting a 2nd team if the A's leave.

The dugout jackets are classy and timeless imo.

Now another idea is if they expand to 32 clubs, they can do the old 1969-1993 rule and just have two divisions (as someone just mentioned). 8 clubs in each division and only the division winners make the playoffs (go straight to the LCS). As a baseball purist I'd be totally fine with that. Keith Olbermann has said less is more and no more interleague and is also lobbying for both leagues to go back to separate League Presidents and umpires and if a player is facing a fine for a brawl etc... he would meet with his leagues respective President instead of dealing with blowhard Manfred.

I can see possibly going back to two divisions possibly. I'd love that actually. There's 0 chance they get rid of interleague, or reduce playoff teams.

Or go back to having different league presidents, umpires, or anything like that.

I do think there's a fine line where there are too many playoff teams. But I personally prefer 8 or even 10 playoff teams to the current 12 (I really don't like the bye in baseball), or the 4 or even 2 of the old days.

Agreed on its too many teams now but there's no way they'll back track. I just hope the field doesn't expand more in my life time.

The thing I hate now with 3 division winners is that a division winner has to play in the what I see as the play in games. That makes no sense to me at all.

Personally I think there are too many playoff teams now. I was fine when it was the division winners and one WC per league. Really made it feel like only the best teams were in the playoffs. But they'll never, ever reduce the number from what we have now. If anything they'll keep adding. Too much money to be made by having more teams in.

Well the Oakland A's, Cardinals, Royals, California Angels, Colorado Rockies etc. should get a participation trophy and a Wild Card berth because everyone gets to make the playoffs and the Pennant Race means nothing. Hopefully with expansion that blowhard moron Manfred will see that the division title means everything for the playoffs and if you don't win the division then well....tough. Even Dusty Baker didn't cry when the 1993 Giants won over 100 games and didn't make the playoffs. Also if Manfred wants expansion, get rid of inter-league for good. Now the NFL brags about separate leagues/conferences etc because of a lighter schedule etc.

Uh quick question, HOW did we get to talking about team re-alinement when the topic is "manager jackets" ??!!!

                      Just curious.

I get you're super nostalgic for the old days, but absolutely nothing you want to happen is going to happen.
