Still way more powerful in all regards then a Switch.

I'm one of those F the cost of things type of person. Ok in this case I don't understand why game companies wouldn't have separate dev teams for each "level" of gen of game they are putting out. this way you don't have bottlenecks at all. each one would be formulated for the peak level of the console you're creating it for.

yes, it costs money to do that... but if it makes things more streamlined then freaking do it man... I'm sick of companies not doing all they can to make things better ad worried about their profit loss column in their books.

just like the company I work for. we have such old machinery that it is always breaking down. just buy new equipment and make us a more efficient company...

I'm not saying that I'm made of money but certain things should be obvious...

on the one hand you gotta spend bank to make bank. at the same time though, if you're investing but not seeing a return, you won't be in business very long. hopefully the Show will reach its potential by expanding the base to include XBoxers & Switchers, allowing Sony to finally invest all in with SDS. for years I've felt it was Sony actually holding the Studio back.

From what I've seen, SDS is going about this the right way. Slow, stead improvement throughout this console gen. They won't cobble something together just to have a "new" release at launch, a mistake we've seen multiple times by the football game (one that is about to repeat itself, apparently)

I'd love to live in a world where budget wasn't a thing. I think the yearly release cycle is a bigger issue though.

Yes, they could have multiple dev teams working across different platforms, but is that the best use of talent? Compared to something like Red Dead, where all personnel is working to get to the same destination? Rockstar gets, what, 3 years, 5 years to turn out a great product? SDS has to rollout a new game yearly.

Just sell me a roster update, honestly. I don't need a new feature or two if gameplay is solid, and without glaring weaknesses. Make a huge leap in years like this, when the technology and investment actually counts for something.

MLBtS is MUCH closer to being able to do that than the empire. The empire CAN do whatever they want. I'm with you on that one. But we all know what they choose to do, and will continue to do.

Has anything actually come out to confirm that MLBTS 21 will be on XSX or Switch or PC? I know that announcement came out stating they were bringing it to cross platforms but has anything confirmed that this release is the one they're going to do it with. I just worry we're all getting our hopes up only to be told in March that MLBTS 21 is only being released on PS4 & PS5.

They said as soon as next year. I believe that statement was before COVID so who knows.

The Show team is small by most teams that push out a sports game every year. I would hope that they hired more people to work on new systems. I hope that means more people to work on franchise mode it give to the work it needs.

From their careers page, it looks like they're still trying to bring more people in:

With SDS probably still working from home, I'm not totally confident that 21 will even release for other platforms this upcoming year. I'm thinking the remote work and their current team size will have them delay releasing on Xbox, Switch, etc until 2022.

I feel like PS5 is really the only realistic thing they could finish with them being a first party Sony studio. It's my belief that they've had the PS5 dev kit pretty early, and were able to start migrating to this platform.

                    Just my two cents.

They never said it was a sure thing that it was going be on other platforms for 21' when they announced that multi platform was coming. Now with the state of the world I wouldn't hold my breath that 21' is released on anything other then Sony. But I'm just speculating.

I'm guessing for 21 it will be on PS4&5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One but not the Xbox X till 2022. pure speculation on my part

so (and this is total speculative assumption from my end) I'm assuming the push for the Show into other consoles started with MLB doing said pushing (though I also believe Sony is on board with that directive, as long as it benefits them).

but with the PS5 currently outselling the new XBox roughly 2 to 1, if I were Sony, I'd tell MLB that the Show won't be ready for other consoles until Show 22. I don't pretend to know to what extent the Show would be a system seller for the new XBox (my hunch is not as much as it helped the PS3 or PS4) but really, why take that chance. Sony can end the next-gen war right now, before it even gets started good.
