I guess PS4Pro for '21 , I have no intention of buying a PS5, I have a high end PC and hopefully at some point in time I'll get to play The Show on PC, or eventually my baseball days might be over.

I'm curious to find out if The Show 21 will be on PS4 also. If so, I'm sure it will be the very last version ever on PS4.

Jim Ryan has come out and said that the PS5 will not get "exclusive" non-cross gen titles until at least 2023. so yes the PS4 will be supported for at least that long.

I'm sticking with the PS4 for now. 21 is not going to make a huge leap. I say 22 will make the huge leap across the board. Not buying a PS5 now when The Show is not going to change that much next year.

It's crazy to think that the PS4 Pro is considered last-gen lol



I was thankful enough to secure BOTH a PS5 & an XBOX Series X, so I'm looking forward to the next 7 years with these consoles

You're going to be disappointed if you think 21 is going to be a huge difference than 20. It always takes a good year to see changes which means 22 is the game you will see that happen.

My guess is that due to covid and ssds being in California the de dev team haven’t really been able to work much on the game. Also, many face scans are done in ST or the all star break. So my guess is that mlbts 21 will be heavily affected.

Exactly. Don't know why a lot of you think 21 is going to be much different than 20? We are still in a pandemic.

Awesome! I still love the PS4 and MLB 20 is off the charts. Hopefully that means for the PS4 version next year (and 22 & 23) SDS will still take time and devote to the PS4 version as the PS4 definitely still has a lot more left in the tank unlike the PS3 way back in 2014. I only hope that NBA 2k 22 and 23 will also still be relevant on the PS4 (Xbox 1) also and still have updates/patches etc for City and Statement and the new "Earned" edition uniforms etc. NBA 2k15 and 2k16 on PS3 were just copy and pastes and no new uniforms/logos were added just roster update at launch.


Anyway this means hopefully that PS4 version either in 21 or 22 will get more throwback uniforms and ride off into the sunset as hopefully by 23 the PS5 will be somewhat cheaper.


Also speaking of riding off into the sunset on former MLB games on older systems:


Ken Griffey Jr Winning Run for SNES in 1996. Last official baseball game on the SNES and was the first baseball (or sports in general) game to have alternate uniforms.


All Star Baseball 2001 (2000 N64) sent the N64 off on a high note as Acclaim switched to the new PS2 the next season (also Gamecube and Xbox got their versions at launch in November 2001).


MVP Baseball 2005 PS2 as the PS3 was coming out.


MLB 13 the Show. A good title and maybe not the best in the series but it ended on a high note though some may say 14 on PS3 was the last hurrah but I preferred 13 and played the hell out of it until I got my PS4 in January 16.

PS5 for me. The Show 20 plays so dang smooth on the PS5 that I can’t go back to playing it on the Pro.

Honestly, if you only play The Show, you should just keep your money and wait until next year to get a PS5. I seriously doubt it will be drastically different this year. Remember in 2014 when Ramone mentioned that it would take a few years for the PS4 version of The Show to be much of an upgrade (paraphrasing). Given the constraints of the pandemic and the fact that they are creating the game for Xbox, I can't see it being so different that it warrants purchasing a PS5/XSX unless you are playing other games on it.

I mean...shoot...I want a PS5 right now just to play MLB20. Even just getting an added performance boost of the current game (which is already the best sports game out there) is well worth it.

I think this is pretty simple... you got a PS5? Grab the PS5 version.

You don't and don't want one? Get the PS4 version, grabbing an expensive console should never be on your to do list for one game.

As a proud PS5 owner, I will gladly say if you have not played The Show on a PS5, you are in for a treat when you do. And that is last years PS4 version.
