Think about cyberpunk for a minute and those who pre ordered 7 years ago and why the game was full of bugs.

I give up my points not getting across. I studied economics believe it or not what others do does effect you with purchases.

It's true that others purchasing habits should be of some concern, but preorders are a tricky subject.

On one hand, fear-of-missing-out (FOMO) is a real thing, and part of the human condition, and companies that capitalize on FOMO are scummy and (more importantly) anti-consumer. And video game pre-orders are the empitome of FOMO abuse, especially when they package in exclusive content with a pre-order (the worst practice IMO).

However, on the other hand, there is a convenience factor to pre-ordering. Pre-loading is one example, but I have another one.

I knew I was going to like Cyberpunk 2077. I knew it was going to launch as a buggy mess, and hit way lower then the majorities expectations (that game for way overhyped by fans). I preordered it, which allowed me to avoid all media and pre-release content and go into the game with fresh eyes, at the moment of release. That has value to me.

I have a firm grasp of what factors I need to know or see before clicking the pre-order button, so I've found pre-orders to be more of a boon then a negative to my life. However, yes, abusing FOMO is an anti-consumer practice, especially on a virtually limitless product like a digitally downloadable video game.

It's a multi-fauceted issue, which I am personally torn on. Mind you I rarely pre-order.

The problem isn't with the programmers, it's with the SDS brass. They are the ones who decide what the programmers do. If SDS can pull off the cross-platform online game play between Play Station and XBox users without noticeable defects, then this will be a major win for SDS and one I will tip my hat to even though the feature will have absolutely no effect on me since well I am not nor will I ever be a Diamond Dynasty player. But it will still be an impressive feat for SDS if they can do it. In the mean time I really would like SDS to be honest with us on why they pulled the y2y carry over saves from the game. If its because they have radically altered the player models, then I am willing to forget about my existing RTTS players and I might even give up the mode all together since you can do player lock games in the franchise mode and have a very compatible gaming experience as you would with RTTS. But I have a hard time believing they would under take such a radical change to their code base in 2020, of all years. But who knows, perhaps the project to radically alter player models began prior to 2020.

But as I said early, please please please fix bunting in your game SDS. You have something really good in your MLB The Show series. But as long as bunting is borked with the rocket bunts all to cater to the Diamond Dynasty peeps, your game will continue to have a huge hole in it.

Yeah I believe it was mentioned in one of these threads. Hopefully people remember this when they go to buy the PS5. They'll have to buy the disc version and not the digital PS5, otherwise they'll have to buy the game again.

So if you have the Digital PS5, buying the digital Jackie Robinson version is a complete waste of money? I don't get this at all haha, so weird.

I have a disc PS5 and I still pre-ordered the digital Jackie Robinson edition mainly bc I don't care about getting the hat

No because the JR digital versions comes with digital PS4 and digital PS5. So all versions are digital not requiring a PS4 disc to play PS5.

Ok, so if you have the digital PS5, don't buy the physical JR edition that comes with the PS5 code, because that version still needs the disc to play the game, even though it comes with a digital code?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Just wanna see a couple of videos to make up my mind and pre-order for my PS5. Hopefully there are a few graphical and physics improvements. Fingers crossed.

The question then becomes how watered down will the ps version be with the developers spread thin to produce a game on multiple platforms?
