Re: MLB The Show 21 Information So Far

Assuming SDS properly does the casual, sim and competitive game-play styles that might be one of the bigger additions this year.

Trends and tactics change in baseball but the core of what the sport is doesn't change on a whim like a summer breeze. They could pretty much nail sim straight away and we would not have to worry if a patch broke something all the time. No longer being subject to the game-play needs of DD/online players would be great. Of course this assumes they approach it correctly and don't apply changes across the board based on one group

Offline/Franchise players aren't worried about someone exploiting the games mechanics. So if they truly separate out the different styles and only adjust each according the feedback of the respective groups within the community that would be a major positive.

MLB The Show 21 Information So Far

I’ll never understand why people are so concerned with how someone else spends their money.

If you don’t want to preorder now then don’t. But to insinuate that those who preorder now are “uneducated” is bush league.

And you can make your point while leaving the political bs at the door

You don't remember when they turfed season mode? It wasn't that long ago and we were never told about this during the developer streams. It was only after the game dropped when the public realized what SDS had done.

I have plenty of other examples of features that SDS took out of the game and/or altered and never told us about it ahead of time. One other example is how they changed the dugout camera view in MLBTS 20 (used in MoM as well as RTTS games when you play complete games) or the year when they release MoM games where the pitchers only threw strikes, they never threw balls. It took them close to two months to get around to fixing that issue.

Don't get me wrong, MLB The Show is a great game. But SDS is not immune from making some less than popular choices and hiding these change. At least this year they warned us ahead of time that they turfed the year-to-year carry over saves in Franchise and RTTS modes. Imagine what would happen if we had to wait to the release date to find this out. Yikes ...

SDS has done a ton more things right then they have wrong. You are correct about season mode, as I had forgotten about that. But their track record still speaks for itself. I understand, you don't want to preorder yet which is completely fine, but for me, like I said before, they have my trust and the fact that they put out the best sports game year in and year out, earns my preorder. I'm not uneducated, I have years worth of playing this game to know what I'm getting.

I understand that this does not pertain exclusively to MLB The Show, but I hate the notion of pre-order being available before even a screenshot of the game is available.

I'm sure plenty of people learned what they needed to know in holding off on 21 with carry-overs not possible from 20 to 21. I'm not in that number but that's definitely an understandable dealbreaker IMO

It's not my intention to get into a pissing match with anyone here and I am 100% wrong if folks think I am telling them they should not pre-order now (which I guess I did a few posts ago). Also if some here already have a PS5 (or the equivalent XBox console), then it is perfectly understandable that they would want to pick up MLBTS 21 for their new console. But I don't fall into that category, plus I have invested hundred and hundreds and hundreds of hours into my RTTS players (some of which were started in MLBTS 17). So now that I know that I will not be able to play with them in MLBTS 21, buying a new console (if I could even find one), buying a new TV/monitor to support the enhanced graphics of the new consoles and then buying MLBTS 21 this spring makes little sense to me especially with the economic #### show the world is in these days. Plus I am not so sure I want to wait until the end of April. Spring Training in MLBTS 20 for the 2021 season is set to start in a little over two weeks from now.

This all sounds great in theory. But it has not worked for Madden (in fact it has failed miserably) and to lesser degree it is plaguing the NBA 2K series as well.

If anyone can pull it off it is SDS. They have earned that from me as well.

I hope it works out. But for me and some others who are sticking with the PS4 Pro and are immersed in our carry over franchises......it was a deal breaker to pick this game up at release.

I am open minded. I love the Show Franchise and if the game is knocking peoples socks off (people that I trust here on OS) who say’s we cannot pick it up year end to have some fun with a new franchise.

But I am far to invested in my Yankees chise. And that is cool. I can pass on a game when I have a version that is simply incredible like 20.

We are extremely curious to see what these “updates” as they now term it, to franchise mode are.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Information So Far

I think most people here who pre-order the game do it because of trust in SDS and excitement every year. I think the game generally lives up to expectations year after year after year.

But let's not forget, it come March, we are underwhelmed or disappointed with this year's title, we can cancel our pre-orders.

We're not locked into anything until the game ships. No worries!

I preordered the Jackie Robinson deluxe edition because whether I play the game or not, I want that in my collection.

I do t understand the pre order debate and ect ire ordering is a thing it’s not the 1990s where it sells out you can literally by the game and download at midnight that night. Pre order 2 months in advance I don’t get it

                          Couple of things

                          1) If there are collectors editions and you want one then it’s best to preorder because they are typically limited print

                          2) there are at times perks for preordering the game

                          3) if you preorder at GameStop then you can treat it like lawayay and make “payments” until the game releases

                          4) if you pre order digitally then it downloads prior to release date so it’s ready to play at midnight on release

                          5) if you live out like I do, preorder and ship for release day is beneficial because I don’t have to drive into town to pickup

All true, but none of those things really make any sense as to why anyone would pre-order now, before any information has been released, instead of about 1 week before the game comes out. There is, as far as I can tell, no reason to pre-order months in advance?

It is just risk without any reward as far as I can tell. (although I'm sure most are happy to buy whatever SDS release so it's not really a "risk" to them) It's other peoples money so they can do what they want with it, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to buy something blind, when you can wait for more information at zero cost in order to make a more informed decision (while also not tying up money months in advance for no reason)

I'm with you man. I don't get it. If I want to preorder 2 months in advance, that's my business. It's not hard to figure out what kind of a product SDS is going to put out. It's baseball. And they've been doing it at a high level for many many years. I get it, we all have differing opinions, but some of you seem to have an agenda with those of us that like to preorder. That's the last thing I'll say on this.
