That will all depend on how portable their code is. If they have common code (which I am sure they do) that can be used on different platforms, then that really won't have much of an effect, However they are going to need to dedicate more QA resources to test all the platforms.

they already got strike one called with no carry-over saves (not by my me but plenty of others already decided on a no-go for 21). I guess they believe they'll more than make that up in xbox sales of 21. but 2 more strikes could be the biggest whiff since the Mighty Casey.

        They'll never do it. Sadly.

and wait when they start chasing bugs on the 4 platforms.

We have 2 teams where i work, one specialized in Xbox series and one for the PS consoles. Hope their small team received some help or it will be no fun for them ( for us on the rebound). We think having 90% of the code in common between the platforms will make it easy but it's just not the case. That 10% was almost killing us.

That's why my expectation is on some quick-win features for this year. I may be wrong but working remotely cause of the pandemic was adding to the problem of a transition year not only to support a PS4 + PS5 but the Xbox series as well.

Maybe the work restrictions were not that bad in SD as here on North side of the border but I can't imagine by example they were able to record as much mocap sessions ( new animations) as they used to.

So what about carry over sliders in 21?

Also I'm pleased with 20. If the 21 PS4 version doesn't add any throwback uniforms or make corrections (94 Angels/98 Mets/70's Phillies & Royals) then I'll just stick with 20 and wait a couple of years when the PS5 finally comes down in price.

I don't look for slider carry-overs in 21, but I never saw the need anyhow. those are extremely easy to replicate w/o being time consuming

I'm honestly quite excited, I am every year. I'm hoping this is my last year with a ps4 though. Hopefully they'll port it to pc or I'll be a looking at getting a series S. I found a fun new way to get into my franchise and get through multiple years and I love DD so I'll get my money's worth.

Very interested in seeing what's new with franchise and I'm hoping the new pitching mechanic is like the old 2K one. Regardless, April 16th can't get here fast enough!!

Every day that goes by where we see nothing at all on the PlayStation 5 makes me think that the difference between the PS4 and PS5 versions will be very minimal.

Their marketing strategy, imo, plays little into the amount of content provided. Based on capability alone, you should expect more than a “minimal difference” between the PS4 version and ps5 version.

Only speculating here, but I suspect the real PS5 release won't be until MLBTS 22. That's why I am not in a huge rush to try and secure a PS5 this year. But as I said I am only speculating. I am sure we will know more once the DEV streams begin.

yeah, until more info comes down the pike, I've been doing a ton of speculation myself. another possible scenario lending to the carry-over being obsolete is expanded rosters. and from there one could surmise another difference between the ps4 & ps5 Show 21 would be the ps5 Show only getting expanded rosters. also, again, pure speculation on my part. anxious as hell for more news. Sony got me salivating like Pavlov's dog lol

MLB The Show 21 Information So Far

The Show did not start to feel next gen on the PS4 till 17.

I have gone back and played 14-17 and 14,15 and 16 were better PS3 versions.

Not until 17 did I feel the more butter smoothness for lack of a better term and also the 4K enhancements we finally got on 17.

As far as speculation on 21 for the PS4?

No expanded rosters and nothing new for franchise mode at all on the PS4 to write home about.

PS5 IMO is getting expanded rosters (that is the hope).

I feel MLB The Show if it follows it’s PS4 path (and that is also a big unknown at this point). Will really take off 2023.

Why can't they just give us a small tease of the PS5 version?

Maybe one screen shot of the new grass and dirt?

Having to wait until March to get any new info on PS5 version is rough. lol

                            Hopefully it's worth the wait!

Afraid this means we will get a similar Madden like "next gen upgrade"
