Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
Here is another massive issue... the rosters will be at a all time worse this year and won't look accurate till late October I am telling you now.
Think about all the vets that missed the 2020 season that won;'t be in the 2021 game. Gerardo Parra for example.
The last few years what would happen is with a Y2Y save he would turn generic... so a great trick was to load the player in a franchise from the previous year and simply export him... this kept his player card his ID and career stats and he was editable. so you could then edit and fix his name and face. and service time (this year we could do that)
cast your mind back to PS3 days now... you had to wait for a SDS update for that to happen for that player to play a MLB at bat or pitch a innings. we are now back to those days of SDS mercy of roster updates. imagine how many vets will be missing off this years game after that 2020 year we had.
This will be the worst looking year for rosters in a long time and won't come close to the rosters we are already seeing now in the vault with MLB 20 from people. it's going to be a mess. this might have to be one of those years for the first time I might skip.
Y2Y saves were not just important for people with franchise but they were vital in creating rosters. the video didn't point this out at all. This will be a huge step back with rosters this year more then the franchise carry overs itselfComment

I assume this is for both franchise and Rtts? If that is the case then the first gameplay videos will really have to wow me in order to convince me to purchase. If we are getting the same player models, grass and dirt graphics I'm going to be super disappointed. These things have been mentioned for years now.
Very happy we are getting franchise updates...but I expected more from the announced feature list.San Francisco 49ers

I have bought the game every year since MLB The Show 12. But it looks like that streak is poised to end. I am done. Stick a fork in me.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
I would like to see quick manage with on field play instead of just text to get through more seasons quicker. Also, if we cannot carry over rosters, then I would like to see a random roster feature to replace Bacon's fictional rosters. I can't see him starting from scratch.Comment

I sincerely hope they bring back the option to play Season mode and also to be able to play a 14, 26, 56 etc amount of games during the season. NBA2K lets me chose to play a 14 game season etc, so why SSD chose to remove this option a couple of MLB The Show's ago to me is still very weird.
I dont have the time to play a 162 game season and I am nog interested per se in a Franchise mode. So yeah, bring back Season mode and let us chose how many games the season should be.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
I think the bigger issue will be if they dont bring it back for next year. I can understand taking it out due to next gen and maybe reworking franchise but not brining it back will make me not want to buy it yearly anymore.MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
NHL: Dallas Stars
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
I own a band check it outComment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
Honestly the biggest thing for me and the reason I haven’t been able to get invested in Franchise...the AI. Nothing about how the AI manages its lineups or rotations feels realistic. Second to that would be atmosphere. The commentary and crowd noise/reactions during big moments/plays needs major work.

Even if season mode ain't coming back just let us reduce the number of games in Franchise mode.. for the love of God how hard can that be to add????Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
I don't even play franchise so no carry over does not affect me. BUT...no carry over of ROSTERS means I am out. I only use classic rosters for exhibition or playoff mode. Not having what we currently have today is a deal breaker for me and I will stay with 20 and PS4.
Saves me $500 on the PS5 as well!

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
2. We still have the ability to load custom rosters from MLBTS 20.
3. Confirmation that they have every intention of reinstituting Y2Y franchise saves for MLBTS 22.
I personally felt like the existing franchise mode was pretty darn good already - but the 90-man rosters REALLY cut into its functionality. They could take last year's mode, expand rosters (do the re-tuning to accommodate), and rebuild the guts under-the-hood to make it easier to add additional components down the road; and that would be a huge win for this year. Anything more than that is just gravy.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 21 Will Be Missing a Signature Feature
I've bought this game every year since it the first year of its existence (yeah I'm old) but I can't see me buying it if there is no carry over saves. 162 games is a lot to get through, even if you sim games here and there, its still a ton of games. I dont really want to rush through seasons , thats how I lose immersion. And I feel like with no carry over saves, rebuilding a franchise , the satisfaction of watching young stars grow and progress, will be rushed and simmed in order to get through it in 1 year.
I guess this post doesn't really answer the question, except to say I hope carry over saves comes back next year.

1. Expanded rosters (at least enough for A-ball to be full)
2. We still have the ability to load custom rosters from MLBTS 20.
3. Confirmation that they have every intention of reinstituting Y2Y franchise saves for MLBTS 22.

If we are doing a positive reading of the tea leaves. Expanded rosters IMO will 99% be in. But it will not be in for the PS4 version. They made it pretty clear they could not do it for that console years ago.
Hence why some features of 21’s franchise mode will not be on the PS4 version.
Here is my list which has your #1 as my number 1 as well:
1. Expanded rosters to include full A ball as well as 12 additional slots for non roster invitees
2. New scouting system (Fog of War ala NHL series)
3. New draft presentation and at least 15-20 rounds
4. Retain all the MLB rules of 20 (I am talking the handbook folks)
5. Revamp of in game presentation to have historical matchups, player splits, really get into the statistical matchups more during the game
6. Fully functional replay system like in the MLB.
7. Revamped presentation inside the franchise hub with a better radio show or monthly around the league
8. Hot Stove presentation during the Winter Meetings
9. Expanded roster of umpires and unique personalties and plate tendencies for them.
10. Editable managers and coaches
11. Tune the player quirks
12. Tune Morale
13. Really tune under the hood AI (bullpen management, lineup management, draft logic, fantasy draft logic which was great on 20 do not lose that!)
14. Pitcher/Cather relationships and player relationships in general. RTTS has this to a degree. Expand on that inside franchise mode and tie it to morale as well.
15. Catcher intelligence rating in how they call a game if using API and also tie that in with a pitchers confidence in that catcher.
I am assuming 30 team control and all of the options we have from the last 2 generations will remain. At least we hope. I am assuming all our control options will remain, camera options etc etc.
That list is a stretch. In fact a huge stretch. If we get at least the expanded rosters, revamped scouting and drafting and AI logic improvements along with everything we have now in franchise mode and Y2Y returning in 2022.....Yeah I will be a very happy camper.
I want to be able to purchase MLB 22 as a no doubt easy decision.
Since I am staying on the PS4 this years game is an easy pass on release. If I see some really cool features I want to play....I can get the game this holiday season for $10 bucks or less and have some fun with it.
I have so many questions and hopefully they will all get answered next month.
Fingers crossed they take franchise mode and gameplay to new heights on the PS5. Would love nothing more!!!Last edited by Armor and Sword; 02-05-2021, 09:34 AM.Now Playing on PS5:
