As someone that struggled with this for years (I first completed all 162 in 2019 and then did 324+ for MLB20), my advice is this:

      1. Take a day to take the baseline SDS rosters and make any little tweaks you want to make.
      2. Dive into the mode immediately with your tweaked rosters.
      3. If you need to make slider adjustments, make them mid-stream. Don't use them as an excuse to "start over". Believe me, the numbers WILL balance-out over time.
      4. Don't read roster threads for the first 2-3 months of your franchise season. Give yourself time to get into things. (Avoid the temptation)
      5. Remember that franchise mode is a completely different universe than real life. Don't get hung-up on "is this realistic compared to real life". Instead, put yourself into the mindset of, "Does this make sense in the context of THIS FRANCHISE".

Bonus tip: it's OK to take a break from the franchise if you get frustrated with things. I personally do this a lot (I'll dive into DD for a couple of days and then go back). If you want to keep playing the game, but not your franchise, try involving yourself in another mode (like RTTS or DD) that you can play in smaller chunks.

I don't have a favorite team. I play OOTP to get the gm experience while I like the game play from the show so I'm going to try something different.

First season sim until around game 120ish. Look through the standings and take over a team I like that's in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Play most of the games when possible.
Go through the off season as that team, making any moves I feel would be good.
Second season is a repeat of the first, simming until game 120ish.
Now I take over a team in the other league to have some different teams and stadiums to play in.
Going forward repeating the process and possibly getting a few seasons in, with different teams, divisions and leagues.

With this process my hope is I will be playing meaningful games and there will be pressure to win if I want to earn my way into the playoffs.
Kind of like the old interim manager that takes over half way through the season.

Start a two way player in RTTS and keep it vs creating a SP and a position player.

Also won’t restrict myself to mainly NL anymore.

I'm looking forward to starting a new franchise. I always start a new franchise each year but I always go back to my carryover Braves save from like Show 16 or 17. Ocuna and Albies literally went from CAPs to full blown players in the file. Its bittersweet but after 3 WS titles I'm good. New gen and no carryover is as good a place as any to start anew. I always use my Braves but I have to find an American League team latch on to. I have always liked the Orioles uniform and park.

Re: What are your plans for 21?

I'm in season 2025 of a franchise I started last year. the first few years I played about 40% of the games but this last season I have played about 95%. I've gone back and forth on finishing this last season on 20 as I am in July and have Bryant up for MVP and possibly a rookie up for ROY. I have 21 preordered so I will make the jump eventually. I keep up to date with the PS5 restocks but haven't been able to score one. I might keep trying but since SOTS isn't in the next gen I'm more likely to ride out with what I have. Stadium Creator would be fun to play but since I play as the Cubs it would be more for other teams or minor league teams.

I struggled to pick up the new pitching mechanic on the tech test so I think I am going to continue with 20 and play around with getting that down before making the switch over; that will give me time to find a roster that fits my liking.

Apparently I am going to have to switch all the Cubs hitters contact numbers to under 25 to make it realistic.

First thing I do when I start my franchise is trade Sean Doolittle from the Reds... I can't stand that guy, I can't believe we picked him up... I never thought I would hate a player more than Homer Bailey, but I was wrong... I at least kept Homer Bailey the years he was on the roster, not the case with Doolittle, he will never find the light of day with me...
If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.

I am an xbox guy, but own a PS4 because of the The Show and Last of Us. Not getting a Xbox Series X or PS5 in the near future, but likely will at some point. I know the stadium editor isn't an option unless on next gen, which is very disappointing. Is it worth getting 21 for Xbox One and then having to buy another version down the line? What are others doing in this situation?

I'm off tomorrow, so I fully expect to be nearly thru April in my franchise, by the time the weekend is over
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

( so not looking forward to Tuesday morning )
I guess the first order of business should be to give away some codes here on OS but I already know I'll have 5 games under my belt by the time I do that some time tomorrow, or even Saturday

Preordered the standard edition for PS5. I didn't think a few days early access was worth the extra money...but now I know its definitely gonna be a looong weekend. You guys better post some pics/vids for those of us bums still waiting!!

First things first. Bought it on the series x this year. Going to feel weird playing the game there. My tradition is usually to play one Yankees vs Red Sox game and try to just get a nice win under my belt with my Yankees. Then probably play around with a little stadium creator before trying to decide on which team to try a franchise with. Thinking As this year since I can alter the stadium but not sure.
