Re: MLB The Show 21 Coming to Xbox Game Pass on April 20

If you own both Series X and PS5 the choice is super easy where to play it and it has zero to do with Game Pass.

Series X if you own a tv with HDMI 2.1 and is 4k 120hz you can output that for all games even those that have a 60fps cap.

    The advantage?

It lowers input lag by about 8ms compare to playing it on PS5 which will be at 4k 60hz output

In a game like the show input lag is critical and for example on my LG CX I can get 4k 120hz native output at all times and my input lag would be about 5.5ms but when I turn on the PS5 it would be 4k 60hz for all games except the ones that offer a 120fps mode which is extremely limited. At 4k 60hz which is what the PS5 does 98% of the time the input lag is 13.5ms

Oh goodie...been a while since we've had a good ol fashioned console war...

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

In one corner we have the Sony Playstation, the "King of Video Game Consoles". In the other corner we have the Microsoft Xbox, "The No Brainer". I could see this one going the distance with both sides throwing haymakers left and right the entire way.

Unless you are only on PlayStation but really want to be a part of GamePass, you're not missing out. If anyone is thinking that this single handedly makes GamePass worth it, then I'm not sure they understand how GamePass works. If The Show is all you would play on GamePass then it would make more sense to not subscribe and just purchase the game. Outside of specials, it is $15 per month. After 4 months you would have paid the same price as The Show is to buy.

For all of the PS users who keep saying this makes them regret going with PS over Xbox, that should only be the case if you would be using GamePass for more than The Show.

If you're a GamePass user and are split which console to go with, this should make it a no brainer. Why wouldn't you go with the GamePass version since it wouldn't cost you anymore than you already have been spending on GamePass. I know $60 isn't that much money, but it also isn't worth spending to have the game just a couple of days early, not to me at least.

As a gamepass user im actually slightly annoyed that it will be on gamepass as i am now robbed of early access and preorder bonuses which i enjoy having for diamond dynasty. Now i could wait 4 extra days and spend $80 in stubbs to boost my DD team but im still robbed 4 days early access.

Just scored a XSX off Wal-Mart, be here Saturday, if I like it, the PS5 is going up for sale. Note - it's not just The Show being on Gamepass, it's a new set of games/ecosystem just to mix it up.

That and I haven't played GOW, Forza or Halo since 360 days, pretty excited.

How are you "robbed"? If you really wanted those 4 early days you still have every opportunity to purchase the Jackie Robinson edition to do so.

From strictly monetary value. As when it wasnt on gamepass i was paying $15 extra for 4 days early or gameplay and $20+ off diamond dynasty content. Knowing the game was going to cost me $70 for a basic version vs the $85 for an upgraded version. Now that i can get it for free on gamepass 4 days early access would cost me $85 essentially robbing me of $70 dollars. Now you could argue i could pay for the deluxe version but that is just financialy irresponsible. Now an argument against myself is as anyone who is getting the game on none gamepass may be at a disadvantage early in in diamond dynasty as those of us who were going to spend 70 or 99 can spend that money on stubbs if we choos3 giving us a huge DD advantage early. It could also creat issues in the market for selling cards as more players may aquire more cards early on. Sorry 2 arguments in 1

You could also look at it like this, before you knew it would be on GamePass you already planned to spend that money. As long as you weren't a GamePass member solely for this game, you can still purchase the game and be where you expected to be financially before the announcement. Of course this may be silly because paying that much to play it just a few days early isn't the most financially responsible thing to do, but we're talking a small amount of money here.

As for spending the money in DD that you originally were going to spend on the game, the game may not be on GamePass for the entirety of the season. It may be like NBA 2k20 and leave the platform after only a few months. In that case, you've spent $80 on Stubs and then are going to be spending at least another $30 just to purchase the game, so now you're out even more money.

Either way, you're not really being robbed, though. You're being given a chance to play the game without spending the money you originally planned to for an extended period of time and all it "costs" you is 4 days of early access.

When you think like this, game companies own you.

There are always multiple ways to buy and use different things. They come with advantages and costs. We pick what fits and move on.

You start wanting every good deal, they will screw with your head for every purchase. Not just video games.

Game Pass is $9.99 a month. Game Pass ultimate is $14.99 per month. You got confused.

The point remains, if someone only subs to GamePass for The Show then they're making the wrong choice. They should have bought it instead. There is zero guarantee this game stays in the library forever.

I'd love to see someone come back in 8 months and explain to us how they and nobody else in their household found no other Game Pass titles compelling enough to play.

Especially among the population of a forum largely about sports games.

Especially when all the first party Xbox titles are coming to gamepass day one as well. Forza motor sport and horizon, flight simulator, halo, etc.

I'm a huge GamePass fan and would imagine people would find other titles to make the sub worthy of their money. That wasn't what I was saying, though. I've seen some comments about people thinking of subbing only for The Show and nothing else. That's a mistake in my eyes if you're literally only going to play The Show.

It's as though that one gamer that only plays The Show, and only on Xbox, but will not play another Xbox game, nor even another Game Pass game all year, desperately needs advice. Otherwise, they would never be able to realize the how bad of a deal Game Pass is for them.

                                I mean, that was close.
