"The Show goes next Gen" PS5 DEV April 8th
Just wondering what you guys think next gen has in store and if they are leaving us some surprises. I am interested in more stadium detail and wonder if crowds are going to be more interactive and have better IA in situations. Also I know 4K/ 60FPS but doesn't the show 20 play at 4K/60 currently on PS5? Let me know what you guys think or are hoping for. I for one would love an overhaul on replay challenges at every base.Last edited by UNIT180; 04-03-2021, 04:02 PM.Tags: None -

I think it's going to be mostly just graphics/animations/framerate focused. So it will be about the stadiums, how upgraded the players are in certain ways, etc.
I don't think there will be anything about AI or even maybe crowd stuff beyond better crowd resolution. I think it will really mostly be about polygons and performance, but could be wrong.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Ramone: No, if you purchase MLB The Show 21, you will have access to all of all over 1000 stadium props in game. We're shipping with 30 fully built [and] created stadiums that you can go in and edit to your heart's content. Because we know some people won't want to build a stadium from the ground up. So we're giving you 30 that you can alter and share. But if you want to start from the ground up with nothing but grass and you want to build that thing to your liking, you'll have the opportunity to do that as well. And you can share those stadiums throughout the community and download other people's stadiums and change those and edit those as well.Last edited by bcruise; 04-03-2021, 04:46 PM.Comment

I'm still wondering if artificial turf and sliding pits will be an option?Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!Comment

I too figure it'll be in there. At least appearance-wise. During the Franchise stream they showed a bit of stadium creator and when changing grass patterns, grass type was an option. I figure astro-terf would be in there. If it's available anyways.R.I.P. Rory Markas, Nick Adenhart and Tyler Skaggs

Just wondering if, to this point, we have been watching only the PS4 on the PS5 console and they are saving the wow factor until next week?Comment

and of 30 generic stadiums ready to be built upon, I'd be surprised if at least one isn't a dome. and where there's a dome (a true dome) there's artificial turfOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

That said, am I the only one that thought the gameplay on the legends trailer and some other bits afterwards that looked better than what we had seen previously? That shot with Hank Aaron and some other ones really stood out and looked more.....crisp? (For lack of a better word). I was fine with the game looking a little better, but it looked a lot better in that video to me.
they should still have the Rogers Centre infield pre-17 as an asset, so I'd think there's a really good chance that's in.

I'll stick with the notion we won't have the option (least not this year), but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised for sure.Last edited by douggoud; 04-03-2021, 05:39 PM.R.I.P. Rory Markas, Nick Adenhart and Tyler Skaggs

That would certainly be a decision especially since I'm now starting to see ads everywhere on Twitter and youtube with what we've been seeing beforehand.

I didn't even think of this. While they may or may not give us placable walls and dome pieces, they could absolutely give us a pre-made dome or retractable roof stadium to edit and add stuff to. Interesting.

I’d say it’s a lock that the field of dreams stadium will one of those 30. That’s why they shared it in the trailer.

I’m starting to think that they’re perfectly fine with how the field looks and that’s why they don’t touch the grass and dirt.
I must say the grass from up close looks great, I just wish it was also at least 3d looking when batting and pitching instead of this green flat tarmac looking surface we have now.
And the “breadcrums” scattered over the dirt was littary a ps4 feature when moving from the ps3. So that basically hasn’t improved since...8 years?
Hoping one day it will look a little bit more like this:Last edited by LastActionHero; 04-04-2021, 08:32 AM."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: "The Show goes next Gen" PS5 DEV April 8th
It should look more crisp. They have no excuse to not have everything be a higher resolution. That's one chance that should be expected in year 1, covid or no covid. It's what makes the grass and dirt still looking poor such a strange thing.

I wonder if framerates have to do with it
I would have been testing different ways and tech to make the grass look better while not hurting perfomance
After all these years with the same grass look you have to wonder that they are sacrificing quick framerate performance rather than long term great looking grassBrand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment
