This was the best feature in NHL 12-14...being able to import real goal horns and music was the single best thing of my gaming life, considering most sounds are not accurate on the NHL games.

When this feature was removed, it was an absolute dagger. And with SOTS gone (forever?...because who’s to say that since XBOX is in the mix now, it’ll be gone forever...they usually don’t have an mp3 import feature) it’s another massive dagger in my gaming heart.

It’s the immersion that always keeps me coming back. It’s the true-to-life atmosphere that I can single handidly great.

All of that, gone. MLBTS20 on PS5 it is.

I have to ask questions for some random guesses of mine regarding just features/improvements.

1) What does PS5 do regarding importing music and such? I'm sure SOTS will be much improved this time around, and I'm hoping that in years to come they'll have cracked a way where, at least in franchise, you can carry over a player and his walk-up music.

2) I believe I had heard that MLB The Show was the provider for the in-stadium crowd atmosphere/cheering at stadiums during the 2020 season, yes? I don't actually know if this is true or not, but say that it is, maybe they said something like: "Hey all, let's make this sound better than ever this year by doing 'blah blah blah.'"

The reason I think this may NOT be true is because they had no new items to record this year besides World Series games with a half-empty stadium, but I still bet that with the PS5's new sound design they probably have a much improved soundfield regardless.

3) I wonder if Alyssa Nakken will somehow be in the game (assistant coach for the Giants), and with that I wonder if there will be more in the way of female inclusion in the game? Perhaps not in the way of players just yet, but I bet that's coming sooner than later. With Super Mega Baseball allowing it and fans wanting/demanding more customization, if coaching staffs are a thing in that way, we may be seeing an opportunity to have female coaches or something. I don't know if they're going full bore and putting Jessica Mendoza in the booth or anything like that, but I am at least hoping to get improved Heidi Watney inclusion. Anyway, something on the female front may get an overhaul.

4) This next one is a lack-of feature, but as I hope the PS5 game is kind of rebuilt, I'm guessing that this year we'll lose franchise carryover from PS4 to PS5, at least for this season. Maybe next year they can bring it back when they have their framework for this game's franchise mode built and such, but that's just a guess like anything else.

Though my #4 is technically correct, so there's that... but besides the point of the thread, and actually contributing to people's anger over this year's release.

I'm still betting that this was not their decision. If the PS4 version of SOTS works fine on the PS5 then I can think of no logical reason to remove it other than some restriction that Sony has put in place for the PS5 and it's games. The PS4 version working on the PS5 is probably a loophole.

And if that is the case then SDS is probably not allowed to discuss it.

It sucks that it has been removed but I don't think SDS did it simply to spite the next gen players.

- I think this is more of a Microsoft/MLB kinda thing going on and I still think feature parity is playing a role but SOTS on PS4 was able to stick but that was it.....actually you make a good case with the feature set being better on PS4 than PS5 so Y2Y got the ax....SOTS did not.....just a lot of questions.

You might not be, but I will. It's Ramone's personal account - he, like everyone here, is free to block anyone for any reason he wants or no reason at all. Personally I'd just mute people so they don't get the "I was blocked!" badge of honor but it is what it is.

I have a different opinion on blocking in regards to any of the official game accounts, but personal ones? Meh.

- I agree.....I did not know it was his personal account. He can do whatever he wants....100% agree with that. If it were SDS’s twitter handle....that is crossing a line IMO and being dooshy to your long time supporters.

I think we are finally really seeing this year that SDS has pretty much just been turning into a smaller Before 2020 EA with less resources. Blocking people now for asking about it after hiding it? This is gross. People are going to have to make this an issue that can’t be ignored with a block button like Fix Madden Franchise did.

I am hoping this is the case. As I bought the JR edition so I have both digital versions so I will know at 11 PM CST tonight for sure.

I am assuming we can since we can do SOTS on the PS4 with MLB 20. The SOTS is going to be in the PS4 version on the game itself. So the game shouldn't know what console you are using. Meaning, if you put the PS4 and a PS5 next to each other and say you had the physical copy of the game, you put the game in the PS4 it is there in the options, I don't see how that feature would be gone if you put that game in the PS5 console.

Good point Bryan, please please post in here your findings on this topic specifically, tonight when you boot up both versions of the game (assuming you’ll be playing on PS5?) so that way we have an understanding of what the heck is going on.

You will be able to use the PS4 version of the game on the PS5 and get full sounds of the show.

MLB 20 sots works on the PS5 perfectly.

I haven't always used SOTS but it's still a feature that is awesome and when I have used it, it definitely enhances the experience and makes it more immersive. I think what I'll do is mainly play the PS5 and Series X versions but if I want to play around with SOTS then switch over to the PS4 version. Having it not be on next gen consoles isn't a deal breaker for me but I completely understand why people are upset. For me, it's all about gameplay and after I played the tech test, I knew I was going to love the game. Now I just gotta stay up for 9 more hours even though my 3 yr old has already worn me out [emoji42]

From what I'm hearing PS4 version has full Sounds of the Show and can be utilized on the PS5. So PS4 version for me. Seems to me only difference is "Next Gen" will have Stadium creator which was made with "last Gen" technology. Poor excuse for "Next Gen" in my opinion.

I just read the FAQ at The Show Nation. That is crazy. A powerful system and disable SOTS for the next gen. I am sure there will be music. Alt Rock, Hip hop, latin, country, Rock and Heavy Metal. It is a blow. But you can jump right into franchise mode after or if they're updated rosters. I am glad I got an Xbox X. I won't pay for joke of a release of next gen. Come on RBI, blow MLB out the waters soon....

Next-gen PS5 should also have haptic feedback in the controller (PS5's best feature by far), so that should be interesting.

But yes, SDS pretty much ignored next-gen beyond stadium creator and the fact that they're charging $10 more for it despite removing features from the PS4 version is pretty terrible but seems to be the trend.

I am not on Twitter. And this is my opinion only.

I get that it is his own personal account and he does have a choice to do what he wants if he wants to block members or not. If I was an owner of a business, I wouldn't want people complaining to me on my personal social media about my business. But if you are going to advertise and promote your business on your personal social media, then you should accept the fact that you will get positive and negative feedback there. But to block people just by asking a simple question is frustrating and shady. Even if they can't disclose any information, respond with a vague message saying so.

In a way, I hope MLB21's sales fall short of their expectations and force them to make some changes next year. But on the flip side, lower sales will not increase their resources to make it better.
