Will the PS4 version of 21 have SOTS? If I play that on the PS5, it should work right?

Won’t be purchasing for the first time since ‘08. No reason for me to with how I like to play the games. I’ll try it on Gamepass for XSX, but have no excitement for it. Have both new consoles and this has been a day 1 purchase for me, but no longer.

The real insult is the lack of transparency anymore. It’s insulting to their loyal customers and supporters. They show 0 gameplay each year now. Focus intently on DD in almost every stream. And keep losing features and stay quiet about them until the game is about to launch or they get their hand forced to say something late in the cycle.

That’s downright shady. They try and distract you with the glitz and glam of the left hand and then repeatedly gut punch you with the right. And the apologists here step over themselves to defend it so you get ostracized if you even think of speaking your opinion or displeasure on the matter.

Even the apologists can’t deny losing y2y and sounds of the show without any mention is brutal. Not to mention the poor attention to franchise... again if its ea we see #fixfranchise trending lol...

They just removed season mode without any explanation the other year, too. Didn’t tell anyone, we just had to find out when we loaded in for the first time.

EA does these things and people dunk all over them. Can’t even question these things in here. You’ll be burned at the stake.

Their used to be clarity and transparency in to what was going on with the making of this game. A mutual respect between company, developers, and users. If you got out of line things were handled because they cared and tried. They explained their reasoning and were forthcoming if they couldn’t meet demand or were forced to shelve a feature. Then it got suddenly cold and corporate. They lost competition and the micro transactions ruled the ship. Accept what we deliver or pound stone. You’ll find out when after you buy it. What’s your other option? Just don’t play a baseball game on the console if you dislike these transgressions.

Was on the fence due to no y2y saves meaning for the time being no classic rosters, but having no sounds of the show makes it much easier......not buying it this year.

Maybe later when it's on sale, but for now i'm happy to continue my '93 franchise in mlb 20 on the ps5.

This is a big blow. The ambience of baseball is so special and not having SOTS takes that away.

I don’t have a PS5 so I was planning on holding off anyways and with the lackluster updates for PS4 version, I wasn’t going to buy anyways.

I’m hoping they expand to PC next year then we wouldn’t (hopefully) have to worry about these issues cause I’m sort the modding community would figure it out.

Pre-order cancelled, luckily I ordered the standard edition so it hasn’t downloaded.

Honestly I’m baffled how we’re going into next gen with only one next gen feature- which isn’t something everyone will use, practically the same visuals and a couple of major features ripped out...and they’re charging more for it!

SDS used to be the benchmark for what EA and 2K should be. Now they’re just in the same category IMO. They’ve got a cash-cow in DD so they no longer have to focus on the rest of the game. FIFA has suffered for years because of UT.

It’s the little things with SDS, right? Not anymore...now you’re not even getting some of the big things in the what’s supposed to be a year on year improvement!

Well that sucks. One of the problems with feature parity across consoles. I’m with you guys on this one, how do you fail to mention this crap? Going to be a lot of pissed off players soon as they load the game in a day or two.

I have never been more on the fence about a game in my life. But here is where I'm at...
I own a Ps5 because I was excited for the jump to next gen for MLB 21...over the last several weeks I have been hugely disappointed due to very little gameplay footage, no roster carryover, and now sadly no SOTS. Over the last several days I have changed my mind back and forth on my decision to stick with 20 or buy 21. I did not buy 20 until March of this year so it is still very fresh to me. but here is my conundrum..
I am a sucker...I'm a sucker for needing to have this current season schedule in my franchise, I'm a sucker for wanting Nolan Arenados real portrait in my roster, And I am a sucker for needing SOTS in my games. I have been using it for so long I don't think I can play without it. Simply put, I am a sucker....

Which is why I will likely be playing MLB 21 Ps4 version on my Ps5. I just pray we get a decent roster for franchise users. I hate that It has come to this...

I was so excited for this years game and now that is all gone. I won’t waste a single penny on this. The developers should be ashamed of themselves.

I know the feature will likely be back in a year or two but I’ll be riding with MLB 20 until then. No sense wasting money on an inferior product.

Dude I’m in the same boat.. I pre ordered on ps5 and pre loaded.. I hummed and hawed for weeks about getting 21 cause I felt the feature set was weak.. now one of the best features is missing... that would have been the deciding blow for me to not grab 21 at all this year. Without a doubt I honestly would rather have SOTS than the stadium creator on ps5.

They say nothing, yet people defend them all the time and bash ea and 2k.. hope this is a wake up call that they are no longer the sweetheart dev team they perhaps once were. They have been trending in this direction for a number of years now.. if it’s cause of Xbox and out of their control that’s fine, but man get ahead of it and be straight with loyal users who have purchased every year

- I cannot disagree here with this take. When Y2Y was revealed as gone for 21 I started posting about the move to XBOX as the most probable culprit and was chastised by a few.....the rational was "oh they are making real core improvements to franchise mode that Y2Y was preventing".....really? How did that turn out. I knew better.

- Yes full suite of SOTS on the PS4 version of the game and if you have a PS5 you can play the PS4 version with full SOTS on the PS5 console.

- What is funny was I was sometimes labeled as an apologist....when I never was. I was an enthusiastic supporter of the game and the dev team because for a long time they really listened, they cared about transparency and typically always delivered a great high quality game. And make no mistake....I am sure MLB 21 will play a very fine game on the diamond again. - Ok so here is where I was on this. I always have known and understood the move to a new console takes a few cycles to ramp up. The move from PS3 to PS4 did not truly take off till MLB 17 IMO in terms of 4K, animations, improved ball physics etc. It was a slow incremental climb between 15 and 16. 17 is where it really started to take off and they whiffed on a few things in 17 in terms of wonky catcher play and defensive animations going bad, but it was a needed step to get to the greatness we have on 20. So I never had any expectations in terms of a “wow” factor for the first few cycles on the PS5. They did deliver the stadium creator which was a big thing for some here in the community so that was a big win for some (I could care less but it was a highly requested feature and I am sure the parks in the vault will be awesome) However what is truly upsetting (and let me preface this by saying....it's a video game. It is not the end of the world. We are just talking in the context of our disappointment in a hobby we have...my life will go on and I am cool...in fact happy as a freaking kite in the grand scheme of this game we call life) is the removal of two beloved features for many of us here in the OS community (Y2Y and now the death blow to a lot SOTS). There is a changing of guard here folks. The move to multi platform has taken away the ability to be “different”. For better or for worse. I am not blaming XOBX players. They are getting a fantastic playing baseball game. I am happy for them. They have not had a real baseball game for almost a decade. However we are allowed to express our sincere disappointment in losing a few huge features of “IMMERSION” that is very sacred to us as hardcore offline franchise players. The bright side is this.....MLB 20 plays incredible on the PS5. I am not over stating this....it is a fact. Smooth as butter, visually it is also a new world with true 60 FPS and 4K. I say for those that are heavy franchise players and love classic rosters and Bacons roster.....play 20 with confidence. It has lost nothing and BryanMcnulty has also uploaded a great updated 2021 roster if you have an itch to start a new franchise with updated rosters. MLB 20 on the the PS5 is a huge win. It is like having a new game with all the features we are used to having. So look at the bright side. I am hoping for the best in the future of this franchise.....but I am far more pessimistic now, which I never was before with SDS. So now it is a show me don’t tell me with The Show. Buying on release is now a thing of the past for me when it comes to sports games.....period. We are not the target audience.....not in the least.

The parity excuse for SOTS and Y2Y saves disappearing is the weakest thing ever.

PlayStation owners who have bought this game for over a decade and truly supported the company shouldn’t be penalized for the fact Microsoft built an inferior system. Sony better find a way around this next year or they are going to lose their key fanbase. It’s not all about money. Don’t turn into EASports. I beg you.

Microsoft didn't build an "inferior" system. It has the ability to have Sounds of the Show on it.
