I cannot get this Berti guy out lol. Next game 4-5 two triples against me. But next game I rally late to win 5-4. Mets improve to 4-6 on the season.

I swept the Blue Jays to start the season off and won the series opener against Baltimore. 4-0 with the Bronx Bombers.

10 games in with the Padres sitting at 4-6.

Seem to be struggling with Machado only batting .200 to this point.

Man is Tatis Jr fun to play with. 2 HR 7RBI and 4SB through the first 10.

Headed into a 4 game series with Pittsburgh:

          Snell v Keller
          Darvish v Anderson
          Lamet v Kuhl
          Clevinger v Brault

Mets score their best win of the season routing the Phils 12-1 taking three out of four to win the series. The win improves the Mets record to 6-7. After a 1-5 start Mets have now gone 5-2 in the last seven games.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

I usually post a lot more updates in this thread, but just haven't gotten around to it this year. I'm also not streaming like I was the previous couple of years.

Anyway, as of right now in my Cardinals franchise, I'm 23-25. It's been a mighty struggle in the hitting department this season. So much so that I've actually had to take a step back on the difficulty this year as I was hitting under 200 as a team at one point. My pitching has been fairly solid aside from the my 5th starter spot and Waino is 1-7. But pitching has kept me in it this season and while I'm 2 games under .500 at the moment, I'm still only 3.5 GB of the first place Reds.

I'm having a lot of fun this year. I didn't play much at all last year due to Covid causing the real season not to start until late July, I just couldn't get myself into the game. This year, I've been locked in again. Grinding 162 is fun. Just wish the commentators weren't so annoying.

                    Cardinals DFA Andrew Miller

Andrew Miller's time in a Cardinal uniform is coming to a close, an abrupt one at that.

The 35 year old blew up in a game against the Pirates where the Cardinals fought to get back into the game, only to have Miller once again fail to hold the game as it were. Miller has 3 blown saves this year as well as only 24 innings pitched even though he's appeared in 28 games. He is 0-4 this year with an ERA of 5.25 and a WHIP of 1.63.

After the game, there was no waiting or even grace period as the Cards front office notified the left hander that he was being designated for assignment and that the team would seek trade offers, but if nothing is of interest, they will just outright release the veteran.

The Cardinals recalled young propsect Kodi Whitley from Memphis to fulfill the void. The Cards have Jordan Hicks still in Memphis, but the organization has made it pretty clear that unless circumstances force their hand, Hicks will remain in Memphis through at the very least the All-Star break.

Another bullpen frustration for the organization to deal with.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Texas Rangers season update MOM. Well the first month of the season is complete and we sit at 12 and 16. 5 and a half games out. Starting Pitching has been a pleasant suprise. All starters under 5 era . Gallo has 10 hrs in the month. I Lost Lowe for 2 to 3 months right out of the gate and a red hot Brock Holt for 1 to 2 months. Hitting needs to improve. Gallo needs help.

Finished the regular season winning the NL West with a record of 113-49, finishing 14 games above the Dodgers who were 99-63.

Ha-Seong Kim won the NL ROY
Manny Machado won the NL Gold Glove
Mark Melancon won the NL Reliever of the Year.
Fernando Tatis Jr won the NL SS Slugger of the Year.

I take on the winner of the LA and PHI series.

Started to think the game was getting too easy after I clobbered the D-Backs, 15-2.

I've now dropped the next three to the Cubs, scoring a total of five runs in those games. Going to need to get the bats going again to avoid the dreaded four-game sweep.

                            Draft Day - 2021

The season is moving quickly as we sit 1 game over .500 after the first 2 months. We are 2nd in the central, 4.5 games back of the division-leading Twins and 1.5 games behind the Yankees for the 2nd Wild Card spot. It was a rough start to the season going 6-12 including a streak where we went 1-8. But we have managed to go 21-14 since and all it took was losing Salvador Perez for the Season to a Torn ACL.

Perez was only hitting .203/.224/.313 in 64 At Bats so maybe it was addition by subtraction. But Cam Gallagher has been even worse replacing him only hitting .184/.238/.263 in 114 At Bats. The rest of the team has definitely stepped up since. Carlos Santana has a team-high 13 HR. Hanser Alberto leads the team in AVG, OBP and OPS at .346, .425, and .881. He has played himself into an everyday player but is about 40 At Bats shorts of being a qualified hitter. Ryan McBroom has also played himself into an everyday player after starting out on the bench. Now hitting .298/.358/.442 with 5 HR. Hunter Dozier leads the team in SLG at .516 while Michael Taylor has the team lead in WAR at 1.7.

Pitching has been pretty mixed so far. Seems like our guys are either really good or really bad. Danny Duffy leads the starters with a 2.43 ERA in 74 IP. Not far behind is Brady Singer with a 2.51 ERA in 71.2 IP. Brad Keller sits at 4.00 Ohtani has struggled but gotten better in his last few starts. He has a 4.62 ERA in 50.2 IP. Mike Minor was moved to the pen after his last start. Hasn't been able to do anything good all year putting up a 6.00 ERA in 45 IP through 10 starts. He takes over the LR role for recently released Jakob Junis. Junis had a 5.01 ERA in 41 IP. Often coming in for Minor and doing just as bad. He was claimed off waivers by the Rangers.

We also released Jesse Hahn back on May 7th. He had an 11.45 ERA in 11 IP out of the pen and went unclaimed. Holden Capps was called up from AAA to take his spot and has a 0.84 ERA in 10.2 IP since. Josh Staumont has 12 saves and a 2.08 ERA in 15 games. Jake Brentz, Scott Barlow, and Kyle Zimmer sit at 2.40, 2.62, and 2.81. Wade Davis and Greg Holland haven't been so lucky putting up ERAs of 4.91 and 5.65. Not sure how much longer they will be on the team. But also not sure who would replace them.

Around the league, the Rays, Astros, Mets, Reds, and Padres lead their division. The Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, and Braves hold the Wild Card spots. Mike Trout will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL on May 6th.

The draft went really well for us I think with our first 4 of our 7 picks being guys that I think can help the team very soon. With the 8th pick, we took 22-year-old SS Trey Pittman. It's possible he has never seen a pitch in his life that he didn't think he could hit. And when he does hit them they can go pretty far. Comes in with great power, a strong arm, and above-average speed and ability on the bases. He has some trouble throwing the ball accurately and again swings at just about everything. But nothing that can't be worked out in the minors. If things work out he could be a future MVP and perennial all-star putting up 30+ HR, with 25+ SB.

We went back-to-back starters with our 2nd round pick and our Competitive Balance Round B pick taking 21-year-old Joe Slater and 18-year-old Tim Nobless. Slater throws a mid 90s 4-seam with a curve, change, and a splitter. Doesn't allow many free passes but also doesn't generate many swings and misses. Has low-end #1 starter potential but will more than likely be a solid #2. Tim Nobless comes in throwing a low 90's 4-seam with a 2-seam, change, and slider. Could gain a little velocity as he gets older but has good command while not great at any 1 thing he isn't terrible anywhere either. He does have some durability issues that could come back to bite us but only time will tell.

With our 3rd round pick, we took 22-year-old 1B Carlos Mitre. I'm not sure why this guy was available this far into the draft. His bat is as good as anyone taken before him. He has a very good eye at the plate and has the ability to play all 162 games. The only issue is whether or not he will be playing those games in the field or strictly DH.

The last 3 picks are pretty much depth. We took 19-year-old SS Brian Knotts, 21-year-old RP Reuben Huerta and 19-year-old SP Billy Romero. Knotts is a glove-first player with above-average speed. Huerta throws a 2-seam fastball that struggles to hit 90mph as well as a slider, circle change and a curve. He excels and giving up weak contact but doesn't miss many bats and the ball doesn't always go where he wants it to. And as for Romero, he throws a mid 90s 4-seam with a sinker, curve and a change. I dont see him being anything more than a long reliever if he makes it to the majors. He doesn't get a lot of strikeouts. He gives up a few too many walks. And his balls fly off of bats when hit.

Cubs Wrap Up: 2020 Presented by Jay

Cubs Finish off the last 6 Games of the Homestand Against the Mets and Brewers

The Cubs (10-5) got their first glimpse of the Mets, who sit at 10-6 on the young year. The Cubs would have a tall task ahead of them as they had to face Thor right out the gate in game 1 of 3. Arrieta was on the bump and gave up 2 quick runs in the 1st as the Mets got 4 hits in their first 5 batters; Dominic Smith and Alonso drove in the pair on hard hits to the outfield. Arrieta was able to get out of the inning but the lead would be enough for Syndergaard. The Mets start would go 6 and ⅔ innings and gave up on 2 hits before Joc Pederson was able to finally get a run up in the form of a solo blast to right field in the 7th. The Cubs would not be able to tie the game though as Seth Lugo shut them down in the 9th 1-2-3.

Zach Davies was up next facing Carlos Carrasco. With wind blowing out the fans in attendance were in for some office as the Cubs struck early sending balls into the stands; Ian Happ started things off right for a lead off homer and Kris Bryant blasted a 2 run shot after Rizzo got on via a single. The Cubs would put up 6 home runs on the day including 2 by Baez as he continues to heat up. Zach Davies was able to keep Metropolians from lifting the ball and was able to go 8 innings allowing only 4 hits and 1 run as he struck out five to give the Cubs the win in a 9-2 blow out.
For the middle game the wind would again be a factor but it produced a lot less offense and Marcus Stroman and Trevor Williams took the bump. Williams kept up his solid start as a Cub as he went 5 innings as he allowed 6 men on (4 hits/2 walks) but did not allow a run as the Cubs played great defense behind him. Alec Mills would find himself in trouble early in the 6th as2 walks and a base hit to make it 1-1. The Cubs were able to tie it as Pederson got a ball to squeak by Alonzo for an RBI. With the game locked up at 1-1 in the 9th the Cubs were able to get in business when Baez was able to hustle to beat out a weak grounder that Lindor bobbled. Jason Heyward drew the walk. David Bote was able to move Javy two 3rd on fly out to right. Austin Romine was due up with 1 down and men at 3rd and 1st. Romine got the start as Contreras rested; Romine struggled in limited action but he would walk it off today. The Mets infield was in to prevent the bunt and try to turn 2 but Romine took advantage of a 1-0 fast ball that he lined to the outfield. The Cubs take the series 2-1 and finish up the last of the homestand with 3 against the struggling Brewers.

The Brewers have continued to struggle as they sit at 6-12 coming into the series; The Cubs recent hot spell has them neck and neck with the Cardinals for the early division lead at 12-6. Adbert Alzolay would get the start against Adrian Houser. Alzolay did not have his best stuff as the Brewers got a lot of contact, getting 8 hits through 4 innings Adbert would not make it to the 5th due to the high pitch count but would only allow 2 runs. The Cubs were able to cut in to the 2-0 lead in the 5th on a Rizzo RBI double and Baez made it 4-2 with a 3 run bomb in the game. The Cubs would use a big 7th to put the game away as they won 10-5. Joc Pederson continued his hot play as he went 3-4 with 4 RBI’s on the day. The Cubs once again announced a roster move as Strop rejoins the big club and Alzolay

Hendo was back in action against Eric Lauer in game 2. The professor kept with his upward trend as he went 7 innings allowing 5 hits 2 walks and no runs with 3 strikeouts. The Cubs would struggle to get the offense going but did just enough in the 5th when Baez singled and proceeded to nab his first stolen base of the year; that set up David Bote for the RBI single. Brandon Workman was able to work a clean 8th and Kimbrel shut the door for the 1-0 win after getting Yelich to pop out and striking out Hiura and Vogelbach for his 6th save and No. 354 of his career.

The Cubs would go for the sweep but would need to get by Woodruff while also trying to fit in rest days for several players. Baez, Happ and Bryant got rest days as the Cubs try to head into a long stretch of games. . Arrietta was on the mound but struggled early as the Brewers were able to get hard hits off him including a 2 run home run in the 2nd by Travis Shaw. The Cubs would fight back in the late innings including Baez getting a pinch hit home run off of Devin Williams in the 8th. The Cubs would come up just short through as the Brewers took a close one 7 to 6. The Cubs will head to Atlanta to play 3 at Truist Park.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

After new rosters dropped and the vault was fixed, ended up dropping the Royals franchise and took a bit of time to lock in on what franchise I want to do, ended up back with my Yankees, especially since there’s no ETA when we’ll finally be able to play night games in created stadiums. Think I’m kind of one of those people that just has to take ‘their team’ anyway haha.

Should be more fun with more new players and they aren’t as OP this year, guys like Sanchez and Andujar are rated more realistically. Bruce is out of the game so starting with Odor instead.

Yankees Sweep Blue Jays To Open 2021 Season
Opening Day was a pitchers duel between Cole and Ryu, but we would come out on top 3-2 thanks to a 3 run 7th. The highlight of game 2 was a breakout 8 run inning from the Yankees offense trailing 6-1 after a Kluber implosion in his Yankee debut, surrendering 6 runs in 3IP. We went on to win 10-6. Game 3 ended in a 6-2 Yankee win with a brilliant debut from Taillon allowing 2 runs over 5.1 IP with 9K’s.

Yankees Drop 2 Of 3 To Orioles
A blown save from Chapman would cost the Yankees game 1 following a 5.1 IP 1 run gem from Montgomery, Orioles win 5-3. The highlight of game 2, was a Judge leap at the wall robbing a Freddy Galvis Grand Slam to bail out German. It wasn’t enough as we went on to lose 3-2. We would salvage game 3 with a 4-1 win, off a multi HR game from Judge and a dominant 6 scoreless innings with 9 K’s start from Cole.

                                Slow Start for Gleyber Torres
It’s been an ugly start for Torres, 1 for 20 with 9 K’s. Bad enough that manager Aaron Boone decided to bench the young SS for G3 vs Baltimore, giving him an extra off day to clear his head.

Domingo German Optioned to AAA After First Start, Wade Optioned As Well
German struggled through his 5IP despite just allowing 2 runs, being saved from a disaster Grand Slam by Aaron Judge. We promoted Andujar and Dietrich to provide more offense options on the bench. It’s expected the Yankees will carry an extra bat until a 5th starter is needed again.
