no dfa, we aren't Rachel & Ross, we're not on a break. he got a full & clear outright release. let there be no mistake: we are fully decoupled
the best thing Show Davis can do is retire, he's not doing anything but impeding the future of baseball from progressing

Yup have had a blast with my Phillies franchise but love the realism of his rosters and always get FOMO when not using them.
Trying to decide on what team to use though.... I have no idea. Want a team that's not the worst but can use a few moves and have a decent farm system. Possible fight for the wild card at least. Also as an A's fan so would prefer the NL. Maybe the Pirates or Brewers, Marlins might be fun too.

The Pirates aren't a few MLB-level moves away, so I doubt they're what you're looking for. I'm having a hard time playing live roster games with them... Not much talent. I haven't checked out Full Minors yet, but Cherington did a good job of infusing low-minors talent since he arrived. Double-A looks loaded this year but there's not much knocking on the door just yet. They're probably a good be patient and let the prospects progress project team but the first year or two will be a slog if playing 162.

I know there is no DH in the NL this year except for interleague play in AL parks, but from what I understand ,there will be a universal DH starting in 2022 under the new CBA.
With that said... how many of you have started your NL franchise knowing you are playing more than one season , will start it with the DH on , knowing you can't change it for the second season once the Franchise starts?

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

I could use some community wisdom on how to setup my franchise. I am going to use the new Ridin roster set, but make some tweaks. Here's what I would like to accomplish:
            * Incorporate a handful of legends into the game (1-2 on my team, as well as assigning others throughout the league)
            * Customize my rotation with a few SPs from other teams. I may prefer to do this manually, rather than work through trade AI.
            * Allow for trading between CPU teams.
            * Ignore budgets (if the Pirates aspire to be the Yankees, so be it)

A few questions I'm looking for help with to achieve this: Should I turning CPU roster control on or off during setup? If I allow for legends as FAs, can I delete the extra versions of guys I want to exclude (I know there are multiple Willie Mays, for instance) -- or should I be assigning the legends through a modified roster file?

Sox, kid - Red Sox Franchise

              Post 1 - introduction

The 2020 Boston Red Sox were disappointing to say the least. With Chaim Bloom rebuilding in the offseason, and Alex Cora returning, the Sox are primed for a shock run to the playoffs in 2021.

I’m using Ridin’s roster, and will not be doing 30 team control. As much as it is realistic I only solely want to focus on building up my Red Sox.

I gave a slight ratings boost to Christian Arroyo (72->73) and Garrett Whitlock (70->75). They’re well deserving of this boost, IMO.

I have universal DH and the extra innings runner rule both turned on. Saying we’re getting the DH next year, one unrealistic yesr without it is not a big deal. Plus, I’d like to see the increase in offense from the National League.

I signed one free agent, Tomoyuki Sagano, to bolster the rotation. The Japanese phenom will wear number 18, his Japanese number, mirroring the number chosen by Daisuke Matsuzaka on his debut in the US in 2007. Hirokazu Sawamura is an undecided for me. Right now, he’s in AAA Worcester, but I may call him up and boost him higher than a 60, but his irl performance hasn’t warranted that. We will see. Screenshots for the second post.

              Go Sox.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

I am using the Phillies in Franchise. After 10 games , it's been exactly what I thought would be. I'm 5-5. Nola and Wheeler have been close to unhittable while the rest of rotation has gotten rocked and bullpen blew some leads late in game. The only issue I have is a lack of walks. I can't draw any walks at the plate--I have 3 in 10 games. and I cant issue any when pitching--I 've given up 2 in 10 games both in same inning by closer who then gave up homer to lose game. So in 10 games there have been 5 total walks. I play on xbox using dynamic pitching and hitting. I have put the sliders for control-human and cpu- all the way down and messed with other sliders. Nothing. Any one have any ideas how to make base on balls more realistic. Also can you hit batters and argue with umps and get ejected?
                Thanks

I use manage mode and I play with DH off and I watch zero AL games because I can't stand the DH. It takes a lot of the strategy and fun out of the game.

Cardinals find bats...take 2 of 3 from Cubs

After struggling in the series opener, the Cardinals found their bats on Saturday and Sunday to take the series over the Cubs in Busch.

The Cardinals were shut out in the series opener, 4-0 as Trevor Williams kept the Cards off balance and forced them into weak contact. Kwang Hyun Kim was good, but a 3 run homerun by Javier Baez would spark the Cubs in the 5th as they won 4-0.

Saturday really wasn't an offensive outpouring, as the Cards only managed 2 runs, but they did it on 11 hits. Now that's poor in the fact they left men on (or hit into 4 double plays in this case), but to see the bats at least get hits against Jake Arrieta was a sight for sore eyes. Nolan Arendado would double home a run and Tyler O'Neill would blast a solo shot in the 7th to give the Cards the win. Miles Mikolas pitched his best game of the season going 7 full with 1 run on 3 hits.

Sunday the Cards did better driving in runs as they put 5 on the scoreboard. Still not a huge number, but the offense seemed to be clicking as they scored 5 runs without ever leaving the yard and moved runners. On the mound Jack Flaherty went 7 full of of 1 run baseball on just 5 hits. A solo homerun by Kris Bryant led to Flaherty's departure in the 8th.

The Cards will travel to Chicago in an odd scheduling twist to play the White Sox. Wainwright, Martinez, and Kim are the scheduled starters.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Game 2 featured a matchup of aces in Jack Flaherty vs Max Scherzer.
Flaherty tossed a gem of a 7 inning 3 hit, 10 K performance. Depsite only 3 hits on the day, the Cardinals squeaked out a 2-1 victory. Nolan Arenado launched his 6th HR of the season off Scherzer that would prove to be the difference in the game.

                      FINAL: WSH 3, STL 1
Game 3 was another pitching duel featuring Adam Wainwright against Stephen Strasburg. Nolan Arenado provided the only offense for St Louis collecting the teams only 3 hits on the afternoon including his 7th HR of the season. Arenado is up to 15 RBI on the season and has homered in back to back games.

since we don't know as of right now if we'll be able to carry-over 21 progress to 22, I'm waiting to start my full-fledged Braves franchise. but I have been looking over their prospects & how best to proceed.

wondering what Atlanta guys are doing w/catchers William Contreras & Shea Langeliers. keep one & trade one (which one which?) or move one to another position? neither one really play another position so where to move who? just interested in seeing if there is some sort of consensus, even from non-Atlanta franchise guys opinions

                        thanks

So I've decided to stop my Pirate's Franchise and start a new one. I think Ridins roster is far superior to the games and it will definitely feel a lot more authentic.

I will be taking the Arizona Diamondbacks and moving them to Portland Maine and officially changing the name to the Portland Black Racers (It's a type of Snake that lives in Portland Maine).

St. Louis Cardinals Franchise: 2021 season
                              April 2021 edition

Xbox player here, so now I’m able to play baseball again, so here we go! I play on dynamic difficulty on pitching and hitting. At the moment I keep fluctuating between All-Star+ and Hall of Fame for pitching (pinpoint) and and All-Star for hitting (PCI). I need to get better at the small ball game, as most of my runs are from home runs. The rosters I used were the base rosters from Game release weekend.

I started off the season hot (lower difficulty from dynamic) going 12-3 in the first 15 games, with 3 separate 4 game win streaks. That hot stretch was followed by a weeklong struggle, going 1-6 over the next 7 games, including being swept by Cincinnati. The month ended going 3-1 in the last 4 games.

Moving into May, the Cardinals have called up SP Tommy Parsons from AAA to make a spot start due to a tired rotation and bullpen being in the middle of 17 games with no days off. Parsons was 2-0 with a 2.20 ERA in AAA at the time of call up. The Cardinals sent down John Gant to make room for Parsons. In another move heading into May, the Cardinals added 2B Christian Colon to the 40 man roster and promoted him to the Majors to add much needed infield depth with Matt Carpenter going to the IL.

Cardinals win another series this time against the ChiSox

The Cardinals have won back to back series as they took 2 of 3 from the White Sox in Chicago.

After Adam Wainwright got destroyed (again) in the series opener, the Cards bats exploded in the final two games to the tune of 23 runs on 31 hits.

Matt Carpenter continues to surprise as he collected 9 hits in the series including 2 homeruns and 3 doubles.

The Cardinals will now travel to Arizona for a 4 game weekend series with the Diamondbacks.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
