I remember having this issue back in the day with the OS full minors but I haven't been into franchise the past few years.

Not feeling DD this year so I've gotten back into it.

It seems like the default SDS rosters, while not the most accurate or realistic, keep the game balanced with the level of talent in the league.

Just wondering if anyone has done anything more thorough
Really? That’s disappointing to hear. I was a bit concerned about that happening when I heard something like they were ‘adding more prospects then ever this year’. Made a post saying that in the thread for Ridin’s Full Minors roster over in the roster forum a while ago before it released. It got dismissed pretty quick (Not by Ridin or his team) like they would definitely be running test sims to keep this from happening. Made sense to me then, but I guess I was right to be thinking about this?

        CHICAGO, IL | OS -- April 1, 2021

The Chicago Cubs took full advantage of the wind blowing out at Wrigley Field on Thursday afternoon as they belted four home runs in an 11-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates to open the 2021 campaign. The Cubs scored the first run of the game in the first inning on a two-out RBI single by Kris Bryant but the Pirates would tie the game an inning later with an RBI single by Adam Frazier.

Anthony Rizzo smacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the third in what was a five-run inning for the Cubs. One inning later the Cubs scored four more, including a two-run homer by Cubs newcomer Joc Pederson.

"We came out swinging today," said Pederson. "It's definitely a good way to start the season."

Kyle Hendricks earned the win for the Cubs tossing seven innings, allowing just a pair of runs while striking out three. Pirates southpaw Tyler Anderson was roughed up and completed just three innings before being relieved, taking the loss. Anderson surrendered nine hits, allowing seven earned runs.

Jake Arrieta will make his Cubs return tomorrow as the Cubs look to take the first series of the year.

            Start of Season - 2021

I try to make things as realistic as possible but I couldn't go another year with Ohtani being complete garbage on the Angels due to stamina. We acquired Ohtani and RP Zac Ryan for Starting Pitchers Daniel Lynch and Kris Bubic. Right Fielder/DH Jorge Soler and Catcher Meibrys Viloria. Its unrealistic that they would trade him but at the end of the day, all he does is make them worse putting up a 6+ ERA every year.

Aside from Ohtani other new members of the team include Mike Minor, Jarrod Dyson, Wade Davis, Hanser Alberto, Carlos Santana, and Michael Taylor coming in out of free agency. Andrew Benintendi comes over after a 3 team trade with the Red Sox and Mets. There are some people in the organization that believe the team has a chance to contend this season. I'm not quite sure I agree with that. I think we will end up around 75 wins but anything is possible. Would have been easier if Adalberto Mondesi wasn't starting the season on the IL with a Strained Oblique. He will probably miss the first 6-8 weeks. With that here is the Royals roster to start the 2021 season.
            Spoiler

Most of our top prospects will be starting the year in AA. Our top 3 guys Bobby Witt Jr, Asa Lacy, and Jackson Kowar could see could reach the majors at some point this season. We aren't quite sure where Witt will play with Mondesi at short already. He spent most of the spring at 2nd base with a little time in the outfield. 3rd would be the most obvious move but with Ohtani at DH most of the time and Carlos Santana at 1st, Hunter Dozier doesn't have many options besides 3rd. Whit Merrifield is good enough in RF that Witt will probably end up at 2nd early but his future is definitely at 3rd.

            Spoiler

We open up the season at home against the Rangers before heading off on the road for a quick 2 game series in Cleveland and then to Chicago to face the White Sox. Ohtani is scheduled to make his 2nd start of the season on April 12th facing off against his old team. We have 11 games against teams with a winning record last season. 9 games against the 3 worst teams in Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Texas.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

Been a while since I actually updated as I've been busy with life and well....just playing.

Some news and notes from my franchise:

June 13th (31-31) 7 games behind Brewers in Central

Cardinals lose Matt Carpenter for 6-8 weeks

The Cardinals have placed 2B Matt Carpenter on the 10 Day IL due to a torn groin. Carpenter is expected to miss nearly 2 months of action which means he'll be back near the end of August or first of September.

Carpenter had been a steady, reliable bat in the lineup as he was hitting .296 with 9 homeruns and 29 RBI's on the year, and was just recently moved to the clean up spot in place of Arenado where he was shinging.

Austin Dean was recalled from Memphis as Tommy Edman will take over second base duties and Connor Capel will start in left field.

Cardinals activate Yadier Molina from IL

The Cardinals activated catcher Yadier Molina from the IL and he will join the team in Chicago for a weekend series against the Cubs.

Molina is only hitting .194 with 4 RBI's in limited plate appearances, but the fact that he will be behind the plate calling games is a shot in the arm for this ballclub.

Tyler Heinemann was optioned to AA Springfield to make room. Andrew Knizner will remain the backup to Molina.

Tigers sign RHP Roberto Osuna to a one year deal

The Tigers signed 26 year old RHP Roberto Osuna to a one year deal worth $3.4M.

Osuna will bring some steadiness to a Tigers bullpen that has struggled this year.

Now a series update to get back on track...hopefully

                Cardinals sweep Cubs in Chicago

The Cardinals (34-31) have swept their rivals, the Cubs in a weekend series at Wrigley Field.

Carlos Martinez earned his 8th win (tied for 2nd in NL) in the series opener although he only last 5 innings and was pulled after 97 pitches. Martinez didn't have his best stuff, but he was good enough to only allow 2 hits against 3 walks but zero runs. The Cardinals won 2-0 behind a Goldschmidt homerun and a Dylan Carlson RBI single.

Game 2 the Cardinals won 4-3 and did so with the long ball. The Cardinals hit 3 homeruns in the game Edman, Arenado a 2 run shot, and Paul DeJong a solo shot. Kwang Hyun Kim earned his 6th win going 6 innings allowing 4 hits and one earned run. The Cards got a scare in the 7th when Jordan Hicks blew up again allowing 3 runs only recording one out. Thankfully Andrew Miller, Genesis Cabrera, and Alex Reyes (19th save) were able to secure the victory.

Game 3 was a homerun derby with the wind blowing out at 13mph. The teams combined for 5 homeruns, but the Cardinals were able to win the bash. They relied on a trusty battery combination of Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina. Wainwright relieved a struggling Miles Mikolas in the 5th and went 3 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts to earn his 3rd win the season.

Tommy Edman and Yadier Molina did all the damage with homeruns and the Cards were gifted a run on a Kris Bryant throwing error.

The Cardinals will return home tomorrow for a 3 game series with Miami. Jack Flaherty, Dakota Hudson and Carlos Martinez are the scheduled starters.

                Remaining June Schedule

                3 vs MIA
                4 @ ATL
                2 @ DET
                4 vs PIT
                3 vs ARI
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

So unfortunately my save file was corrupted so I'm going to have to restart my Franchise [emoji36]. Might choose an AL Team which would make more sense for Portland Maine. Thinking Baltimore or Detroit.

Cubs Wrap Up: 2020 Presented by Jay

                    I-94 Rivalry Resumes in Wisconsin

The Cubs (5-4) were in Milwaukee to take on the Brew Crew, who have struggled out of the gate. After taking their first series 2-1 they have lost 6 straight games. For the 1st of three games, Kyle Hendricks was on the mound as he faced Eric Lauer. The Cubs would get on the board first as Willson Contreras belted a solo home run in the 3rd. The game would be a low scoring affair and would remain at 1-0 as Hendricks took a 1 hitter into the 6th inning. That would change when Vogelbach would tie it with a RBI double. The score would remain tied at 1-1 until the 10th when Matt Duffy would get a ball in the gap to bring in 2. Andrew Chafin was able to pick up the save in a 1-2-3 inning.

In the 2nd game Woodruff was on the bump as Arrieta took the ball for the Cubs. Chicago would score early as they quick 2-0 lead off a Jason Heyward home run and a RBI by Rizzo. In what has been a common theme Arrieta pitched strong but the wheels fell off after going through the lineup a 3rd time. This time in the 5th the Brewers were able to sting him for 3 runs to make it 4-2. The Cubs pen would falter as they went down 4-10.

In the final game of the series Zach Davies had a great outing as he went 6 innings giving up only 2 hits and striking out 7. The Cubs were able to get the lead in the 4th after Contreras walked and Joc and Javy drove in 1 a piece on back to back doubles. Chicago’s bullpen would keep the shut out as Winkler pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the 8th and Kimbrel got the save after striking out 2 and inducing the fly out by Yelich.

Braves Come To Town for Early Season Matchup
The Cubs were off thursday as they traveled back home, the Braves would be in town for another 3 game slate. Atlanta has been hot of late as they have won 7 straight and sit at 9 and 4 after 13 games. The Cubs made a roster move as Strop was sent back down to Iowa as Alzolay will get the start in the middle game of the series. Trevor Williams was the starter in game 1 against Ian Anderson. The Cubs got out to a quick start as they led 5-1 after 3 after Happ and Heyward were able to blast the ball into the bleachers. Williams would give the lead away in the 5th as he would give up 5 runs including a 3 run bomb to Freddie Freeman. The game would remain tied but Bote came up clutch as he drove in the winning run in the 9th on a walk off single.

Alzolay would get his second start of the year against Drew Smyly. Adbert had a strong start as he struck out 5 but he would end his day giving up the lead the Cubs got after giving up a solo shot to Ozuna. With the game tied at 1 the Cubs were able to break the tie in the 7th after a Happ single and Bryant drove in a run on a double. The Cubs would get the win 2-1 as Bryant drove in both runs capping off a 3 for 3 day.

In the final game Hendricks was on the mound again as he would take on Sorka of the Braves. The Cubs got things started in the 2nd after back to back home runs by Pederson and Baez; Happy would drive in another as the lineup flipped to make it 3-0. The Cubs would go on to load the bases after a walk by Rizzo but Bryant could not drive in any more runs. Hendo had his sinker/change working as he was abl to go 7.1 innings of 2 hit ball and give up 1 run. He would get in trouble in the 8th with 2 runners on but Chafin was able to get the final 2 outs without giving up any more. Kimbrel came on for the 9th and got his 5th save after getting two quick strike outs; he would give up a hit to Freeman but the final out came when Freddie would try to 2 and get gunned down by Marnisick in Center. The Cubs will have another day off on Monday before continuing the homestand against the Mets.

The Cards won the first two games, but were unable to complete the sweep as the bullpen (Jordan Hicks) blew up again late in the series finale costing Carlos Martinez his 9th win of the year and the Cards from extending the best winning streak to date of 5 games to 6.

The first two games saw the bat of Nolan Arenado make an appearance. Arenado has been struggling and that is putting it nicely. Hitting just .230 and less than .150 with RISP, Arenado put together 4 RBI's and then added 4 more in the series finale with a grand slam.

The Cardinals now trail the Brewers by 6 games as they pack up to head to Atlanta for a 4 game weekend series with the Braves.

Cardinals send Jordan Hicks back to Memphis

The Cardinals have again sent RHP Jordan Hicks to Memphis. Hicks owns an 8.69 ERA with a WHIP over 2, and continues to be a liability in the bullpen. Its being stated that the Cards do not expect to recall Hicks until after the All-Star Break, if at all this season.

Cards sign RHP Shane Greene to one year deal

After sending Hicks to Memphis, it was speculated who the Cards would recall to take his spot, but they aren't recalling anyone. The Cardinals have agreed to a one year $3.5M deal with 32 year old RHP Shane Greene. Greene will join the team in Atlanta to face the Braves, the organization that employed him last year, but didn't resign him, or at least agree to a deal.

Greene steps into a bullpen that has been fairly solid this year, although a few arms have been inconsistent (Helsley, Hicks, Miller). Greene will take the role of being a 7th inning guy for now that bridges the gap between starter to the backend of the bullpen (Cabrera, Gallegos, and Reyes)
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Anybody have the answer to these two franchise questions been trying to find out before I start a new franchise so the first is has anybody know if there is any benefits for playing all the way through spring training this year like maybe helping your players improve or help the role players on your team gain some stats to make them better players or is spring training just still a waste of time??? 2. Is when are you guys seeing any benefits from training that you select for your players or is it still just for looks and you don't get any player improvement from training??? If anybody of you guys here have the answers to those two things that would be outstanding!!! Still wanting for a certain set of rosters to drop to actually start a franchise the SDS rosters are not made for franchise players and ratings are way off this year. The last few years spring training has been really stale and don't really have any effect on player development and player training really don't do much so just wondering if this year is the story???

I think the only benefit from actually playing spring training games is if you have some real position battles going on and you want to decide by playing the games out instead of simming.

I still think specific training doesn't do anything.

Thanks a ton for your reply my man!!! It’s going to save me a ton of time because I only play franchise so it’s really a let down that spring training is basically still useless and player training is also. Once these rosters drop I will see if they will save the game for me once again. The live rosters and updates have been pretty weak this year so the only thing that might save the game for me this year might be playing the regular season games.

I’m going to start hitting Berti on the Marlins. Most annoying hitter against me. He constantly gets these cheap bloop hits to RF that turn into triples.

Just had a play where he did that and I threw the ball home when he was rounding SECOND and he scored on a inside the park home run.
