Re: How old are you, MLB the Show fan?
57. Grew up playing Strat-O-Matic Baseball in the 70s. Great game.
First baseball video game I think was the 2k series on the old PS1 in the late 90s, but didn't really enjoy a baseball game until first playing the Show in 2012.
Haven't played since the pandemic lockdown in 2020, but will probably get back into it at some point because every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in.It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Re: How old are you, MLB the Show fan?
I’m 48. My first baseball game was on the Atari 2600 in 81-82.
Some of my favorites over the years have been Bases Loaded and Baseball Stars on NES, MVP Baseball 07 with the college teams (I think that’s right.) and obviously the Show.
I stopped playing Madden 3 years ago, so basically this is the only video game I still play regularly.Comment

Honestly I wasn't expecting to be one of the youngest users in this forum at 32 but it's really cool to see so many older folks gaming.Comment

My first baseball game involved a wooden bat, leather glove and a baseball. Those were the days.🇺🇸 58,281 🇺🇸Comment

Re: How old are you, MLB the Show fan?
32. My first game was Triple Play 98 (Brian Jordan on the cover).
It had Erik Kiss, the cornfield stadium. oh good times.
It honestly doesn't look as bad as I was expecting
I've loved many Triple Plays. the one with the creative home run challenge that had targets, living room, even a Medievel castle!
Then came MVP 2004, a really strong game with the worst glitch in sports gaming history, which is, left-handed hitters couldn't hit home runs. Well, once in a while you could luck into a wall-scraper. How that made it beyond testing is anyones guess.
Fortunately they followed it up with the best video game of all-time... which was sadly followed by a buyout. Which is how I ended up with The Show.
I like The Show, I really do, but to this day I believe Triple Play and MVP's hitting mechanics more naturally mimicked real-life hitting. Cursor-based hitting is nothing like real hitting, and that's my biggest gripe with The Show. Hitting is about timing, it's not timing+aiming. The aiming part is instinctual. I realize that technically there is a timing-only option but it leaves a lot to be desired.Comment

Re: How old are you, MLB the Show fan?
I'm 40. My first baseball game was that game that had historical rosters on the NES (Was it RBI Baseball 2? I forget. The Show should do the same and take a hint with how they did it: Have the licensed players with appropriate stats and team for other years, and fill the unlicensed players with generics... that we can handilly fill in!) and my first shared roster was for Baseball Stars in the early 90s.
Created Expos / Braves / Cards / Cubs / Reds / Jays for it and lent out the cart to my friends. The curse of content creation has followed me since.Comment
