It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

These are some of the popular choices who were stated as the worst and links that state they may not be selling or at least have a back up solution:

        1. Peter Angelos (Baltimore Orioles)
        4. Jerry Reinsdorf (Chicago White Sox)
        6. Atlanta Braves (Liberty Media)
number one team I'd like to see sold, Atlanta. I just don't care much for Corporate ownership, but to be fair, I have been pleased with their direction the last 5 years, though a pennant would have been nice

        2) not a fan of Reinsdorf, never have been. as a B'ham Baron fan, I'm a White Sox fan by connection. and anyone who employs Ken Williams, Hawk Harrelson and LaRussa is no friend of mine
Reinsdorf should sell to Michael Jordan, MJ has some unfinished baseball business to finish. a Jeter-Jordan Marlins-ChiSox World Series would be fantastic IMO

        3) I'm an O's fan because of the Show, they've become my favorite video game team over the last 10 years. I assume Angelos kids will remain in control for the foreseeable future, so I don't really see them for sale, and the jury is still out AFAIC on the Angelos heirs. they'll probably be better owners than Angelos Sr but that's because he set the bar so low. on the flipside, maybe they won't be better than Angelos Sr, if the apples didn't fall far enough away from the tree lol

apologies for the double post but I 100% agree with this.
I'd really like the Studio to take notice of the potential of what ownership could do immersion-wise (like I stated earlier), evidence the enthusiasm in this thread.
the way they have it now, the only real thing besides different budget sizes that would reflect on ownership would be the expectations on the GM, but too many of those are the exact same among all 30 teams: goal - win the WS, or division, goal - finish above .500. I'd like to see all 30 teams have completely different ownership expectations of their GM

Well Guys - I want to thank you all for your input over the past several weeks - it has been fun & educational reading your posts and I hope that this thread will still continue with your input as it will with mine and the team that I have selected - and so - without further ado I have chosen for my 2021 franchise - The Chicago White Sox

I went back and forth - watching YouTube videos - googling - researching - lots went into this selection - an interesting thing about this selection is my son - who’s about to be 15 - actually had me purchase a White Sox hat the other day - I want to thank Caulfield for helping me talk this out and arrive at this conclusion - I look forward to bringing The Southside a Championship

I will be posting updates of my season on this thread - I have tried to do a dynasty write up before but A LOT goes into that so I’m not sure I can keep up with that as I’m a 9th grade teacher and a Varsity head coach - so needless to say - lots on my plate

Stay tuned…and once again…thank you to all! 👍🏻

Despite never playing baseball in his youth, he made it a point to “personally approve” every roster move. He’s also notorious for overly strict physicals on players (see: Manny Machado’s knee). Unlike other bad owners he isn’t afraid to spend, but this just makes him worse because he dishes out terrible contracts left and right (Albert Belle, David Segui, CHRIS DAVIS, and on and on). Not many people realize the O’s were the last team not named the Yankees to have the highest payroll in the MLB (until the Dodgers in recent years). The end result of that 1998 team? 90 losses.

Fun fact: my mother was friends with a former Orioles GM’s wife. One thing that I will always remember is that when he was the GM (2000s) he NEVER ONCE was able to meet Angelos one on one. He also would try to make trades, signings, etc. and Angelos would shoot them down because “he thought the guy they were trading was a good person.”

This is also the same owner who personally befriended Fidel Castro and hosted an exhibition game vs. Cuba in Baltimore. After the game nearly the entire Cuban team “disappeared” before their return flight LOL.

I could go on for days.

IIRC Sports Illustrated named him the worst owner in all of sports.

Bad things happen when you let a personal injury lawyer buy a baseball team.

To be fair, I thought the same thing when Bill Wirtz (Blackhawks) died, but his son/kids turned the team around and reversed a lot of his decisions, such as not televising home games, before Dollar Bill was even cold in the ground.

Careful what you wish for on the 2nd part , MJ couldn’t be worse then Reinsdorf but the Charlotte Hornets haven’t exactly been great over the years under his ownership. His greatness as an athlete hasn’t really translated to running a team.

no doubt I'm overly harsh on Reinsdorf, as he did play some small role in bringing a WS title to Chicago since the dead ball era.

as for the Hornets, I think NC is a terrible choice for a pro basketball team. move'em to Cincy, Pittsburgh, KC, St. Louis,Montreal, Tampa, NJ, anywhere is a better chance to thrive than in a decidedly NC-Duke-Other-NC-teams hotbed. the Pelicans/original Hornets made the right call in going to NOLA imo

also, Jordan probably meddles a bit too much in running a basketball team, something I wouldn't think he'd be as quick to do, running a baseball team

Oh, it's Bob Nutting (Pirates). There was a petition on Change.org asking MLB the force him to sell and it got over 60,000 signatures. You can bet I was one of them.

there's no shortage of contenders and candidates to the throne of Worst MLB Owner IRL,
that much is well established here as elsewhere but what about actually in the Show?
since owners are very minimally portrayed, is bad ownership in the game a combination of a low budget and yet still high GM expectation?
or is it just a low budget that's all required to be a bad MLB the Show team owner?

I don’t know if it would be considered an owner mode but I would love the Show to incorporate new GM goals.

                          Sign a star player
                          Cut payroll
                          Draft a star
                          Increase revenue
                          Etc…

Would be awesome to have the difficulty of appeasing a meddling owner while trying to build a winning franchise.
