You never know cause it is all Public Relations. I feel that if they weren’t that close, why negotiate for 16 hours and extend the deadline?

      Re: MLB lockout

I was definitely going to buy the game as '19 is the most recent game I have, but if the playoff format for franchise is going to be outdated I'm going to pass.

I hope we get some word on this whether it's something they can/will fix.

Yeah it's hard to tell if the reports we heard are true, or just what one side wanted us to hear. Kind of seems like some reporters were happy to be the mouthpiece for the PA and others where happy to be the mouthpiece for the owners.

I agree that it doesn't make much sense to negotiate for 16 hours and extend the deadline by one day unless you really thought there was a good chance of coming to an agreement that next day. I also don't get why the players would have supposedly changed their tune over night if they really were close....maybe the saw that the owners moved the deadline and felt that it was no longer a deadline and that they could ask for more? Or maybe they really weren't close at all....and we all were just getting played.

It's funny because I feel like if you asked each side what the color of the sky is one would say one color and the other side would say the opposite color and neither would be blue.

            MLB lockout

Im scared to think how many more games will get cancelled… Like someone said on MLBN, now that games have been cancelled, its really easy to keep cancelling.

I bet they dont meet until next week now and it could take a ton of meetings to get anywhere close to a deal.

Both sides say they want a deal asap but I highly doubt either side means that.

Talking heads on MLB network is what had all of you thinking they were close in the first place.

Yeah the urgency is gone now that opening day is canceled. I’m sure the next threshold is May 1st.

I am not looking so crazy now am I? This is playing out just like '94. Once they start cancelling games its easy to keep doing it. All of those folks saying there is too much money on the table for them to cancel, LOL The only people that will be hurt by them cancelling games is the regular folk like you and I that work in these Parks and for these teams that count on paychecks to actually pay our bills. None of these Millionaires will suffer. They are the elites and just like every other industry they have no concern about anybody but themselves.

So you dont think either side cares about the 2021 almost $11 billion revenue? 2022 revenue would probably be $11+ billion.

Both sides lose a **** ton of money if there's no season.

Do you honestly think they dont have financial plans for just such a situation? Tax write offs, Insurance, Investments etc. These people will be fine. They have survived this long. Maybe if they actually start to feel a yearly loss going forward and it would have to be substantial then they would start to feel it. If they were afraid of such a loss then why didn't the last lock outs or the COVID shut downs have a lasting impact? A cancelled season will not hurt anybody except the regular people working for the teams or maybe low tier players that have not made their deals yet.

Dont know how much you can't trust them. They didn't broadcast the mlpa's press conference and Manfred has been known to fire ppl who aren't along company lines.

Huh?? MLB Network had the PA's press conference... I watched it, they cut to it during MLB Tonight... Andrew Miller, Tony Clark, Bruce Meyer and Max Scherzer were all at the table.

                              I am not excited.

Honestly I don't care. I have given up on professional sports pretty much as a whole. I am just restating an opinion that nobody in the beginning agreed with and thought that I was crazy but yet is looking more and more like a possibility. That is all I am saying. I don't want the lock out to continue. I want there to be Baseball for everybody. But I am realistic about the situation and the people involved.

Not a chance the ENTIRE season is cancelled..... A new deal will be reached in the coming days, weeks, months... MLB baseball will be played in 2022.
