    Re: MLB lockout

It will be an absolute disgrace to Jackie Robinson and US history if games arent happening on 4/15, the 75th anny of JR breaking the color barrier.

      Re: MLB lockout

I think the owners had a plan all along to skip April. After opening day, their attendance is down. You have cold, snow, and rain weather, and kids are still in school. I imagine the owner's target is the first of May. June or July would probably be probably the latest you could go for a legit season. You would be looking at another 60 game season.

I was listening to ESPN radio the other day and they made a good point. They should shorten the season to about 140 games. Have opening day be April 15th every year. Would be cool to do Jackie Robinson day be the opening day. Give every team a day off every week. You would have less injuries overall.

They would have to figure out the money issue with the less games. But I think if they are truly wanting to make the game better. Baseball is entertainment. The best thing you can do for entertainment is you want to give them enough for them to want to come back for more. How many fans of like the Pirates or Orioles in September be like...I wish we had another month of baseball.

I thought that was interesting. I somewhat agree with that.

Well at least one person thinks this is funny. Manfred laughs during the press conference and is caught practicing his golf swing during negotiations. You know where he’s at right now.

It wasnt their final offer, both sides said they’ll get back to the table.… It was final offer before the deadline.

There really isn't anything to be optimistic about right now. Not sure how you keep justifying moving the goal posts in your head to be honest.

This has played out exactly like many thought it would.

Never said I was optimistic, Im just stating what was said yesterday.

Players received a lot of wins in the latest offer, they figure out the CBT difference then there’s a deal.

They really arent that far off.

And what does it matter what I think? Everyone has different thoughts on this… So what.

                  MLB lockout

Clark stated the players are willing to continue talks as soon as tomorrow.

Let’s see if they actually put together a counter proposal to the latest league offer or if this is just more media posturing

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I'm optimistic they'll come to an agreement soon. But that's just my perspective on life in general. Nothing wrong with that.

                      Re: MLB lockout

I think the owners made it sound like they were close on Monday night. Then on Tuesday they can blame it on the players. Still think the players should have made their “final counter offer” right after.

But the way the owners didn’t make an offer until 6 weeks. Then cry that the calendar dictates them for canceling games.

The owners do not want to play in April. They don’t make money in April. They made offers that they knew the players would not accept. If the players did happen to accept it, double win. If the players don’t accept, they get to cancel April, win.

So now is the question when the owners start to get desperate and raise their offers.

                        Re: MLB lockout

My belief is both sides really are miles apart ideologically and numerically. This has the makings of a cold, cold summer. However, this is the first lockout in the social media era. The damage and pain is pouring in from every outlet, and most credentialed writers of the sport are completely crushing the owners. The fans alone, might force both sides back to the table this week and beyond with frequency. I don’t have faith after that, but anything is possible if they keep talking.

                          Re: MLB lockout

For every week they don't get this done 2 series will be cancelled. so people out there saying 'it's only 2 series relax' are in LA LA Land and kidding themselves.

even when they come back the schedule will be a unbalanced joke. some teams might be more games then another.. division series will be a mess.

the season is ruined now for good there is no fixing it. I said in 2020 I wouldn't want to win the world series that year now I wouldn't want to in 2022. because it will forever hold that asterisks.

Just heard on MLBN that Scott Borass is a major reason why deal didnt get done.

I guess he told Max Scherzer to throw a big fit... I've also heard that Max really pissed off MLB because he's a hard negotiator.

I just realized last night the Milb will still go on as scheduled. Spring training start this weekend for the minors. However I don’t believe players on 40 man rosters will be able to participate. If we don’t have MLB for awhile I’ll dig deep into a AAA season with custom stadiums.

Correct, minor league guys on the 40 man are locked out like the rest of MLB players.
