In my opinion, the acceptance is what breeds thess behaviors. If the majority of the community adapts the “take what I can get” approach, the developers rightfully do the bare minimum as it is a business. I just wish more people in the community pushed for what should be the standard of great technological leaps. If they can’t do this solely because they are now working on different platforms, they need to hire more people with all that Diamond Dynasty revenue. Simple as that.

Along with that, there is no alternative. And the show is not bad enough, as is, to warrant me just not buy-in the game for me.Comment

Re: Will MLB The Show 22 look like a PS5 game?
To be honest, there is no shame in having that approach. SDS is in their second year of going third party so iterative updates and optimizations are going to happen this year vs something huge.
Just from a developer standpoint and I'm just speculating as I'm not an SDS employee but, MLB's agreement with SDS in 2019 to make The Show a third party title likely put SDS in a position where internally they had to overhaul their entire development workflow to accommodate 5 systems (PS4/PS5/XBONE/Series/Switch) instead of the 2 (PS4/PS5) that they were used to as part of being a first party studio. That probably includes tools and scripts designed to work solely with Sony equipment, for all we know.
I mean at least to me, 2023 may be different now that there's going to be a focus on building out an ecosystem for the game that covers all of the existing systems. In that process we might even get a PC version, so who knows.

Honestly every sports title needs a rival and competition. It’s the only way these competíos actually try harder and push themselves.

My sentiments exactly! Where does this optimism stem from? How have they earned the benefit of a doubt? They haven’t. And it’s frustrating.Comment

Re: Will MLB The Show 22 look like a PS5 game?
You have to define "acceptance". What am I accepting and what should I be expecting? Like should I just not play a baseball game all summer, something I get enjoyment out of, to make sds make the game look better?

Re: Will MLB The Show 22 look like a PS5 game?
A PC version is the only chance of having a baseball game where the stadiums don't look like they're being played on a PS3. The stadiums are so stale and outdated it laughable. There's such a small difference between the PS4 and PS5 versions. Basically create-a-stadium, which I couldn't care less about because they all look generic with no ads on the outfield walls, the inability to make bullpens anywhere but in foul territory. It's just garbage. And now they're going to want it to be super, "accessible," on this device, and that device and blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile getting a true, "next gen," game is just not going to happen for a long time, if ever. I used to be such a huge SDS fanboy and love The Show. I still have a glimmer of hope. But this year when I watch the stream where they talk about franchise mode and they talk about how they added a more user friendly trade screen and easier to navigate menus, I'm done. I'm not buying it unless they have some actual, legitimate improvements.
Couldn’t have said it any better myself. And I know there is a large percentage of us who echo these sentiments. San Diego Studios are mired in mediocrity. A game that plays pretty well, yet lacks immersion. A pretty bare bones experience that is a decade behind in the graphics and presentation department. It’s 2022 and the water doesn’t even behave like water yet. The ball just bounces off the water like a brick wall 😆Comment

Between the lines, this is the best baseball game I have ever played. Its really not close. I think they deserve to be recognized for that. You want free speech?

Re: Will MLB The Show 22 look like a PS5 game?
Considering they haven’t had any competition the last 9 years, and the advancements of technology, why wouldn’t it be the best between the lines? That’s fine. But the lackluster graphics and presentation are still present. Why be complacent? Especially those of us on next gen.Comment

Re: Will MLB The Show 22 look like a PS5 game?
Looking for opinions…seems to me the consensus is there’s no difference graphics wise between ps4/ps5…stadium creator only difference…I’m a franchise guy who loves the sots immersion…would it be better to to skip the ps5 version and got with the ps4 version played on ps5Comment

Re: Will MLB The Show 22 look like a PS5 game?
If sounds of the show are a big deal to you that helps your immersion into the game then I would definitely go with the PS4 version played on the PS5.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
