I was thinking of getting a ps5 last year, but held off because features in various games I wanted aren't in the games.

It might be another year of waiting it seems like. Or I just cave in by the summer and get it.

The "telemetry" told them not enough players use "sounds of the show" for them to bother implementing that either I suppose.

yeah people must use it more on the PS4 version though. they must have known the future that when people moved to PS5 not enough people would use it.

I really wish I had the money and resources and all the power to create the perfect sports games, my first rule would be to never take features out and build upon new features each year and not care about the money turnover. that it is just a good and loved game.

Of all the things we see celebs invest in, I'm surprised nobody really invests in video games and has control/power in what gets implemented in games.

Well, let us know how it goes when you have to deal with platform requirements and licensing partners, I guess.

Hopefully there are some members of the SDS team who are big enough devotees of SOTS to reach out to Microsoft about changing that policy. MS may not listen to users about something so niche, but perhaps they'd be more receptive towards developers.

I'm no tech expert, but I doubt that giving the Series S/X the ability to import music for specific purposes would be a tall order or anything.

Since when has there been a parity requirement? Back in the N64/PS1 days, the N64 versions were often neutered due to memory limitations of the game paks.

If SDS made an agreement with MS that they would cut features from the PS5 version to make it identical to Xbox One/Series, then that’s on SDS. But the way I see it, SDS had all the negotiating leverage. MS didn’t have a viable baseball title, and the cost and time required to produce one would have been prohibitive. Either SDS is terrible at negotiating or there’s more to it.

It wouldn't be a deal between SDS and Microsoft. It'd be between Sony and MLB. And MLB, being that they own the license, had the leverage. MLB wanted games on other platforms as a way to help spread the brand. So as a condition of renewing the license with SDS, Sony had to agree to co-publish. Sony publishes on Playstation, MLB digitally on the other platforms. And it's entirely possible, given that Sony is also the developer, that part of the deal is that SDS couldn't develop PlayStation exclusive features (with PS4 being grandfathered in because it was already developed).

If Sony hadn't agreed to the co-publish deal, they probably lose the license and MLB approaches EA or 2k (probably EA first given that 2k voluntarily dropped the license around 10 years ago).

Like a former IT colleague of mine once told me, anything is possible, if you want to pay for it. We know what that decision was, unfortunately.

They're just not making it available for Next Gen, and not giving a reason why. Parity on Next Gen is the only valid reason I can think of.

I agree, I would also buy it on PS5 if it had SOTS. Right now rolling with 22 on gamepass but would definitely switch back to PS5 for SOTS.

Re: No Sounds Of The Show for MLB 22?

My guess is they don't have access to the inner workings of XBOX that is required to upload and store the music files.

I remember when ps4 came out we had to wait a couple years to get SOTS back because the PS4 didn't allow mp3 users to upload and store mp3s.Sony was clear they weren't going to ever make that a feature again like it was on the PS3.

So SDS figured out how to implement SOTS through a game specific mp3 storage and upload system which was possible as they are Sony and have access to the consoles tech. I highly doubt Microsoft would allow them access to the needed Xbox infrastructure to do what's needed.

I'm not saying SOTS won't return but I think 1 of 2 things would need to happen. 1: Microsoft would need to have it be a priority for them which I doubt will happen. Or.......

2: The parity thing becomes a non issue. Without knowing what the agreement was with MLB and Microsoft it's hard to say if this will happen.

Since the game is licensed and all that jazz, wouldn't be cool if all the proper music and sounds were included with the game? SOTS built in would be awesome.

Licenses for stadium music and using it in a game are a little different. SDS being able to use something like Enter Sandman for Rivera's entrance music would probably be crazy expensive.
