    This is 100% the reason.

I used to work for a third party company that handled MS console and account support. I was there when the One was introduced, and even got to see a prototype shell before it was officially launched. We had a roundtable with the executives, and one of the music geeks that I worked with asked how fast it can read and rip cd's? They gave a whole corporate schpeel on copyrights etc etc.

With the game pretty much being a carbon copy for both systems, makes sense to just leave it out.

I still struggle to see the logic of omitting it from the PS5 version personally. It’s like saying they’re not going to give us dual-sense functionality because the Xbox controller doesn’t have those features.

It’s a kick in the teeth.

I always wondered why they just didnt put it in for the PS5. If sony doesnt care, which clearly they dont, might as well just put it in and add an extra menu that the Xbox wont have, or grey it out.

Maybe MLB won’t let them? Something about both next gen consoles have to be the same?

That’s my point. They’re already not the same because the PS5 has duel-sense features and the Xbox doesn’t.

That's very likely it. MLB co-publishes the game. It seems very likely that in the co-publishing agreement there is a provision that Sony can't develop features for the versions they publish that aren't applicable to the versions MLB publishes. It'd be dumb for MLB to not require that.

I just can't imagine not listening to music I want to or using walk up music I created. This seems like an easy win for SDS to have. Ok, MS is adamant on not allowing uploaded music. Not sure why that would prohibit that from happening on PS5. Take the easy win there. This is subject to MLB saying all new consoles have to have feature parity, which is if that is case, major L by MLB for that.

If Sony really bent the knee to Microsoft that’s not a good look.

I’m hoping SOTS will come back next year. It took a few years for it to come back once PS4 dropped but they did bring it back eventually.

Not bringing it back at all for PS5 users because Microsoft doesn’t allow their users to upload music isn’t a good look. Why should we be punished because Microsoft has an inferior console?

The whole situation surrounding the mlb deal is suss if you ask me anyways.

2k effed up their 3rd party exclusive license. Sony on the other hand kept making great games which in turn was a great investment for Sony because it sold systems.( I only had a ps3 because of the Show and I'm sure I'm not the only one)

With 2k crapping the bed there was a huge hole for the MLB to fill on XBOX. Enter RBI Baseball. Anyone anywhere ever knew how that was gonna go. I dunno if MLB thought that RBI would be a comparable option to the show for XBOX users at some point but it seems like tgat was maybe the plan. Definitely not a good plan or even remotely realistic for the developers of RBI.

Which leads us to basically plan B. MLB strong arming Sony into making the game for all the systems if they want the license Then to add insult to injury to Sony they add it to XBOX Gamepass which makes choosing to buy an XBOX over a PS5 really appealing to some I'm sure.

Just honestly think about that for a second.. Sony makes a Sony game that costs money on a Sony console but is offered at a nominal subscription fee on their competitions console. That's just completely bananas to me hahahahahaha

The least they could do is give us Playstation folk Sounds of the Show. Lol

Was not in MLB 14 and was back on 15

                      Not likely happening here.

Again, it's not bending the knee to Microsoft. It'd be bending the knee to MLB.

THATS another reason I won't get a PS5 (other then paying $700-$800 just to get one...which is nuts) it seems there are a LOT of problems with that console and the games you can play.

I'm not familiar with any major issues on the PS5 and I've had one since launch. The PS5 is certainly not the reason we didn't get SOTS. That's Microsoft, it's happened with titles in the past when they go over to Xbox. (Smackdown vs. Raw)

All of that said, I don't blame you for waiting until retail price is available. I was fortunate to pre-order mine and get it day one. If I hadn't, I wouldn't own one right now.
