I (personally) take that a step further....and same as you, not a knock at all on anyone...

I don't know how people stand using the same basic set of players every year (i.e. people that use "real life" rosters every year without fail).

A couple of years ago, I pulled myself away from "real life" rosters and went to Bacon's fictional - it was so refreshing to get to use an entirely different player pool. After using them for a couple of iterations of the game; I'm beginning to become excited to go back and use real life players again. Not sure if I will; I might stick with '21 for franchise play, but I've found it personally interesting that I've begun to swing back that direction.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I’ll be going with either Indianapolis Indians or Altoona Curve

I'm infatuated with drafting (or trading for) and developing young stars on to my major league roster. It's my favorite part of this game every year.

This is my favorite thing to do in other sports games. I saw a lot of people say you can't change the inning length or the season length. Is that true? Is there any type of supersim thing like what FIFA and Madden have where you can play a few innings and then sim the rest? Or play offense and sim defense?

I used to love MLB games and I'd love to get back into it if there's some freedom to not play 162, 9 inning games. I don't have a million hours to put into every season lol.

You cannot change innings or season game length in franchise.

But yes there are several options to help advance you through a season:

            1) You can play and supersim the same game. Ex: Start the game, play say 3 innings then start simming to the end. You will still have the option to jump back into the game and play.

            2) You can quick manage games where you control lineup changes, pitching changes, pinch hitting etc...but the game is simmed out.

            3) Critical moments where the game puts in you into critical moments of the game. Sorry I've never messed with this so not sure exactly how it works

            4) There is a separate choice from traditional franchise called March to October. This is another speedy way of advancing through a season but still having a hands on approach. Again, something I've never done so not exactly sure how it works.

I don't sim all that much but I know there are a bunch of simming options. Quick manage, or quick counts are two of them.

Sweet thanks so much. I just bought 21 for $10 at best buy so i'll try it out later today. Being able to sim full games and parts of games is huge and I've been wanting to get back into baseball games since the MLB 2k10 days. Thanks again man.

Gotta rep my Phillies for this Franchise unless i can find a team with better uni's/stadium combo.

You can sim many games if you want. Back in 18, I simmed an Indians franchise to 2025 spring training. It created a whole set of unique story lines. I hate using present rosters in a franchise in any game and I adopted this style for multiple games.

I built my team full of homegrown talent. In 18 I then played the 2025 season, in 19 I played the 2026 season. In 20 I played the 2027 season. This one took me almost 20 months to finish (I tried 21 but went back to 20 and in April 2020, my work hours and shifts changed as our hospital started to deal with the pandemic). I am in the offseason now for 2028 and will start playing the season in April.

This has been my most engaging franchise in any sports game ever. All thanks to the different simulation options we have.

A popular way to play & sim is the play one, sim five. This way, you get to play with each starting pitcher through the rotation in each played game.

If you think about it, that is 32 games played. If you have decent sliders & difficulty, that should be adequate to giving you a good challenge to make or break a playoff run. Kinda keeps it interesting too since you need to manage your roster correctly so user input isn't everything.

I'll never love simulating, but until they put a season length option back in, this is the only way most of us will ever be able to play a 162 game season.

I am very excited for MLB The Show 22! The last installment I played was MLB The Show 18.Now that the Show is coming to the Switch, I will be able to play much more often vs console. I do not play online and only care about RTTS and Franchise so I think the Switch version will work great for me.

I am a die hard Braves fan and all of my franchises have been with them, however i never went deep into my franchises. I want to play as the Braves but I am also contemplating playing a rebuild with the Pirates.

Usually what I do even though I do 30 team control to monitor the rosters for realism I only actually play games with the Mets, so what I normally do is I play 3 out of every 5 games for a total of around 90 games played per season. But in order to mix up who I pitch with I play game 1,3, and 5 and continue all over again. Counting days off as a game so it's not like I am always using the 1st, 3rd and 5th starter in the rotation

sometimes I like to play every pitch of a 162 game season but when I do sim, I prefer a sim 2, play 1 ratio. because 99% of the time, every team will win at least 54 games and also lose 54. it's what you do with that other third of the season that determines if you are going to be the 1990 Braves or the 1991 Braves
and a 54 game season can be finished in under a month

I like to play one game per series, that gives me 52 games/season that I play. I usually try and pick the best pitching matchup out of the series, but I focus on trying to pitch with a different pitcher than the last game I played with.

I also always play opening day, and the final game of the season. In the playoffs, I play the first game of the season and all elimination games.
