Re: MLB The Show 22.... Which team you going with for franchise?
In The Show I'll be the Braves. I tend to lose interest when not playing as my favorite teams. The Braves are set up nicely. I'll likely return to playing all 162 games like I used to and I hope I can get multiple years in. Last year I didn't even make it to the playoffs whereas normally I get a couple seasons in at minimum.
I'll aim to repeat, but likely won't.
For my rebuild, I'll be using the Orioles in Out of the Park when it launches. I can play as other organizations and not lose interest in that game much more easily for whatever reason.

Re: MLB The Show 22.... Which team you going with for franchise?
Usually run a couple different ones for different purposes...
Main franchise, play all 162, favorite team: Yankees
Borderline contender, play/QM mix, make a few moves and try to compete: Deciding between Phillies, Twins, Angels, Giants
Rebuild, mostly sim/QM, try to be in playoffs by year 3: A's or Reds are obvious choices right now. Cubs, Rockies, Tigers, Rangers are other options.
Leaning towards
1. Yanks
2. Phillies
3. Rangers (Unis and stadium)Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22.... Which team you going with for franchise?
Last year, Early Access was on April 16th, and pretty much everything until Early March is hit or miss. The latest move in the default rosters seems to be April 2nd.
So with the game releasing on 4/1 for EA, I think 3/18 is the cutoff. I don't think anything after that will be in at launch. The major moves here would be Jansen, Schwarber, Castellanos, Story, Correa, I'm probably missing some. I think most of the big deals before that will be in, but some of the smaller signings, especially Minor League deals, might not be there.
First update seems to normally be 2 weeks after Early Access starts. Hopefully, because of the weird offseason, they'll have it ready to go a little sooner, and it'll be available on Opening Day.

Reds, as usual. Especially now, since I have to stop all the stupid transactions Krall and Cas are doing. Looks like it's up to me to save the Queen City's Red Machine... In The Show, that is. As for the "real world", God help us. I'll be moving Senzel back to 3rd in my first move as video game GM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22.... Which team you going with for franchise?
For season 1, yes, unless...... I'm a farm system guy and would like to work someone up from there, and I don't see any potential prospects as of now, that would fit that role. Until then, the only change I could see myself making in year 1, is Moose fitting that role at the All Star break if things are going poorly.
I'm curious what the training feature looks like this time around though. Votto tends to drop off dramatically in terms of attributes, regardless of how well he is doing and the training tends to do nothing. So if I suck, and I'm out of contention, I may move him. But I tend to do pretty well on All-Star settings with Armor sliders, so we will see. I like seeing a long time athlete retire with one team. #aaronrodgersComment

I’m looking for a mid-tier team, both talent wise and financially. But I’m so picky. Have to have uniforms I like and play in an appealing stadium.
I love my Jays but I’m staying away from them this year.
…maybe…

Pretty stuck between the Mariners, Angels, and Rockies.
M's and Angels could both be wild card contenders this year and they've made some good moves in the off-season. The M's bullpen is deep and they have some interesting bats in the lineup, plus the likes of Julio Rodriguez, George Kirby, and Noelvi Marte coming up in the near future.
The Rockies have some interesting pieces with Bryant, McMahon, Blackmon, Cron, and Tapia and could definitely have a good core to build around with Veen and Montgomery looking like two studs in the outfield. Plus gorgeous stadium and uniforms.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22.... Which team you going with for franchise?
This is a tough one. I am still deciding on 22. Depends on what the RTTS stream holds tonight.
If I stick with 20: I will likely continue and start my 2028 Indians season. We have 3 peated but I lost some key players to free agency and trades. I lost my RF, 3B, number 2 SP and my top RP to free agency and trades. I got some good assets in return but the team definitely looks different. I locked in my 1B now 3B and my LF to 7 year contracts and my new ace (24 years old) to a 9 year long term deal. All front loaded contracts. We are still favored to repeat but if I go this route I am bumping up the difficulty. And I also lose my SS and my current ace SP after 2028 as well. So it is time for the farm to progress more this season.
If I move on to 22: I am going to do a new rebuild series with the Guardians and sim 10 seasons to see how the league looks in 2032. Really test the new long term logic. And test how my previous draft and roster edits are impacted by the new logic and see if I have to make changes. Those that know me know that I hate present day rosters and want my own universe. Then play the 2032 season with my homegrown Guardians team. This accomplishes that. I am also sure I will mix in some rebuilds as well. Maybe a 4 team rebuild with the Orioles, A's, Cubs, and Rockies and test the logic there.
That's the plan but it all depends on how I feel after tonight. With the changes in presentation and commentary as well as the long term logic changes that benefit me I am leaning toward 22 but have yet to make that final choice.
And you never know, if I get 22, I may do both of the above.Last edited by Funkycorm; 03-24-2022, 01:06 PM.Funkycorm

Re: MLB The Show 22.... Which team you going with for franchise?
Quite a few teams I’m interested in this year. Haven’t decided yet, and I probably won’t until the game releases and we can check out the rosters and see what things look like ratings wise. Main focus is that the team is able to compete and be fun to use in year 1.
My top options right now:
Yankees: My favorite team IRL, so like many here with their favorite team’s, they’re on my list by default. The AL East will be a very challenging division this year, and the roster has seen a nice amount of turnover lately to make playing with them again a fresh enough experience. I mostly drifted from 21 by time Gallo and Rizzo were acquired, so it would be a pretty new lineup for me this year.
Angels: Finally being able to use Ohtani properly is a huge plus, and with Trout you probably have the most exciting pair of core pieces in the game.
Phillies: A flawed roster built to win now. Defense is a concern, but the lineup should be very fun to play with, and Harper is a nice core player as well. NL East should be tough this year. It’ll be a battle to take the division, never mind a championship run, and there’s a lack of resources to improve the team much further. The current group is already a luxury tax team, and there’s not exactly a deep farm system to pull from in July.
Mets: They may be just a little too good, but we’ll see. DeGrom and Scherzer is a lethal 1-2 punch in the rotation, but Scherzer will be declining and could even potentially retire after year 1 if you have bad luck.
Nationals: They may be too thin around Soto, Strasburg, and Cruz, to be competitive and fun to play with in Year 1, but if I’m wrong, they would be a very interesting option this year.
As you can probably tell, I like the NL East this year. As an AL guy, the universal DH makes the NL more appealing as well. Turning it on yourself never felt right, both for realism and because the NL teams obviously weren’t built with the DH spot in mind.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22.... Which team you going with for franchise?
When you play just curious do you tweak the sliders to make the game as much a challenge as you can? I saw you three peat and was just curious. I have seen others who play and win like 140 games a season and i am just like how in the world is that fun? Where is the challenge, So I am always curious how others do the settings to keep it competitive.
For the 2026 season, on 19 I won 110 games. At the 81 game mark here, I did change to HoF because I was running away with the division. I changed nothing else and it humbled me. Took a lot to get that title.
For the 2027 season, I started on HoF but shortly into the game came April 2020 and my schedule at the hospital changed so I started working 50+ hour weeks. So after a month of struggling to win in game I brought it back to all star. With the pandemic, it took me 20 months to finish the season. I ended up winning 98 games. It took 6 games in the ALCS and another game 7 in the WS (second straight season) to win.
It balances between fun and a challenge. And as the last 2 years have been taxing on me, a bit of ease at times is fun with a challenge mixed in.
I did finish the 2027 season in late December and haven't really played the show since then. I will probably start on all star and go from there with sliders if I go to 22. If I stay at 20, I will likely keep my sliders where they are and bump up to HoF.
And I do enjoy a challenge. Looking at my current played games, Elden Ring is on there lol.Last edited by Funkycorm; 03-24-2022, 02:11 PM.Funkycorm

The first season I played on 18 was the 2025 season. I won 97 games on all star. Note I also use classic/directional.
