Years ago SDS had a video where they showed they indeed did colour matching with real life video of all the ballpark. The grass up close looks pretty decent but when in play it’s an eyesore. I think it’s still this way to keep the game also on 60fps on the ps4 and so that crossplay works. Old gen is holding this (and other games) back.

It sucks that because of the chips shortage Sony can’t get the console on the shelves so they won’t let the ps4 go any time soon. The install base for the ps5 just isnt’t there yet to abandon the old gen.

And they just launched on the Switch, which is behind even PS4 and Xbox One. I don't think they're abandoning last gen all that soon

Real life video? Video of MLB often lacks any actual real detail of the stadium. Most channels are not even close to reproducing 4K uncompressed. Not even in the same galaxy. You need real world photos.

Either the engine is maxed and complete garbage, or they simply don't have the talent or time at this point. Not too many other options. Other than some minor additions, the grass has looked this bad for about ten years now. This is not usually a simple 'we don't have time' type of thing. It's either engine or talent related.


I'd go the engine route first, but I almost refuse to believe a talented artist cannot do better than this. Their color matching for one is pathetic. Almost no stadium looks realistic on the field. Many just look like some overbrightened mess of shimmery and gamey colors that don't at all reflect accurate lighting and greenery.


A game like GT7 is miles beyond this in places, especially the lighting. Games like RDR2 have shown us how to do proper realism with lighting and saturation with foliage. And it's not like they have to do many trees here. Even just color matching fields to real world photographs would immensely improve the game. But nope, we got these brightened PS3 fields with blackened crosshatches everywhere. It's stunningly horrible.

I happen to think the game looks gorgeous with the colors and lighting.

I can't even remember the last time I looked at the grass in this game. I mean, to the point where I'm not even sure that I have.

The only time I even look at the field is when I crush one down the line, praying it stays fair.

I really believe the colors are crisper and lightng has been adjusted wih this patch!! the game was a little to bland and dark pre patch but thats just my opinion!’

Legit criticism doesn’t get hand waved in here there’s over 100 pages of criticism and conversation about graphics and you were the only one I responded to as your posts are nonsensical and unproductive you stated the game isn’t up to your standards to the point that you won’t even buy it yet are in here name calling others because they call u out for saying the graphics haven’t improved since PS3 days, that’s just stupid and deserves to be called what it is…….. as is saying u don’t like something but continuing to use said product but we know who u are and what your agenda is, barely worth responding too but I fell for it I guess
