The World Series trophy is staying in Atlanta as for the second year in a row the Braves defeated the Yankees in five games.

Freddie Freeman and Marcell Ozuna hit back-to-back home runs to start the fifth inning, and light-hitting Kevin Kiermaier capped the inning with a three-run homer to lead the Braves past the Yankees 8-4 in Game 5 of the World Series.

Joc Pederson was named World Series MVP after hitting .500 with three homers and six RBIs over the five games. A curious decision though since Marcell Ozuna homered in all five games en route to batting .409 with five homers and nine RBIs.

After the first two games of the series, the Braves were hitting just .220 as a team over the entire postseason. The Braves raised their team average to .263 after taking all three games at Yankee Stadium.

Games weren't quite as intense as last year. We didn't hit much until those games at Yankee Stadium. But we did hit a lot of homers. The three-peat is going to be a challenge since we're going to lose a fair amount of talent. But looking forward to getting 2023 started.

I've got to figure out what to do with Ozuna. I want to move him, but it doesn't really make sense in context of my franchise. He hit .284 with 40 homers and 105 RBIs this season. And he had a monster playoff and World Series. Still not sure how he didn't win the World Series MVP.
Congrats on the completion of a season and the ring! As far as Ozuna keep him, virtually with does number's he's killing it!

We're through the exclusive FA period.

Snitker accepted our offer to return as manager. We still need to hire a farm director and hitting coach. We have offers out. Eric Flanagan, who was offered our farm director position, took the Mets managerial job instead.

We re-signed Joc to a one-year, $13.5M deal. That was our only move during the exclusive period. We're staying in touch with Dansby, as well as a few other players, but wanted to keep our options open.

The Cubs dumped Jason Heyward's contract, trading him to the Phillies for Tucker Barnhart.

      Other signings:
      • Yankees re-signed Judge at 7/217M
      • Phillies re-signed Nola at 6/183M
      • Indians re-signed Ramirez at 6/135M
      • Padres re-signed Clevinger at 5/80M
      • Mets were busy, re-signing Diaz, Lugo and Ketel Marte
      • Astros re-signed Pressly at 3/20M

I'm having a dilemma. I don't want to stop playing this game (I don't think I've liked a game more than this year's version) but I have a problem where I can never stick with a franchise. I played one from the beginning of the year with my Mets until the TDL.

Started a new one with updated rosters, but then went back to the original and have been playing that pretty much since.

At this point in the season, I'd rather get a new one going. My choices:
        - Sim the first season and start from today and make my stamp on my team of choice
        - Start with the final rosters (I honestly like the SDS rosters since the minor leaguers were added) and start in the beginning of 22 and play on.

Any input from the peeps here?

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

Finished the regular season in 2023, and managed to squeak by for another division title with the Braves. Finished 2 games better than the Mets with 93 wins, and I'll be taking on the Brewers in the NLDS. Dodgers had the best record in baseball with 107 wins, and the A's the worst with just 59. The Tigers were the most improved team, going from 58 wins in 2022 all the way up to 78 in 2023. The playoffs are almost all repeat teams, however, with just the Brewers and Angles (as a WC) making it, knocking the Phillies and Yankees out.

Matt Olson, after a disappointing first season in Atlanta which saw him have a .739 OPS, 30 HR, 73 RBI and 2.6 WAR, bounced back huge in 2023. He finished with an .874 OPS, and NL best 48 HR and 109 RBI, and 4.8 WAR on his way to the NL MVP (as well as a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger). Michael Harris ended up with a .895 ops and 34 HR and SB, and led the NL with 7.3 WAR while snagging a Silver Slugger. Ozzie Albies and Drew Waters also took home Gold Gloves.

Yordan Alvarez won the AL MVP, with Jacob deGrom and free agent to be Shohei Ohtani winning Cy Youngs. Joey Meneses won the Rookie of the Year for the Giants, and Ray Vaughn won it for the A's. Mike Trout picked up his 10th Silver Slugger, and Nolan Arenado his 10th Gold Glove. Albert Pujols (who didn't retire last offseason and went back to the Dodgers), hit 21 HR get up to 708, and had 61 RBI get him to 2243 (just 54 shy of the All-Time Record).

Pitching was up and down for me all season, but Strider and Soroka at least pitched really well down the stretch. Even Kyle Wright pitched a lot better. Kyle Muller, however, really struggled and will likely be relegated to the bullpen in the postseason. Lucas Sims (1.99 era since I traded for him) and AJ Minter (1.95 era) have handled the closing role in tandem down the stretch. Looking back over my season, I was shocked that both Touki Toussaint and Tyler Matzek have over 7 bb/9 on the year in over 80 combined innings.

It's gonna be a tough path back to a third straight WS. Only went 14-13 in September, so I'm not coming in super hot, but luckily neither are the Brewers, who went 14-14 to close out the year.

I suffer from this problem as well. I think the best thing to do is to figure out what is most fun for you. For example, I never play as the team(s) I actually like, but I broke tradition this year and took a Guardians franchise into August (then I stopped because I'm a numbers guy and Jose Ramirez had 43HR by August 1). So I decided to switch to a team I had no real life interest in, and ironically I also had a weekend family get together in DC...so I ended up starting my Nationals rebuild project and that's been the most engaging franchise I think I've ever played. I love when I can get some storylines into my franchises, and the Nationals have so many rookies and prospects that there's been a revolving door of players (especially with injuries)...and there's progression and growth for future seasons.

But everyone is different, I choose to start my Nationals franchise with the post deadline rosters, so I started 2022 without Juan Soto on Josh Bell. I like to keep things realistic as possible, but since my franchise was going to deviate anyway, I just put it aside and rolled with it. And it's been a blast.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

My season came to a premature end. The Braves fell to the Brewers in the NLDS in 4 games.

              Game 1 was an epic pitcher's duel between Brandon Woodruff (7 ip, 0 r, 2 h, 1 bb, 8 k) and Spencer Strider (7 ip, 1 r, 1 h, 1 bb, 12 k). Unfortunately, a Hunter Renfroe 4th inning solo HR was all the Brewers needed to take Game 1 in Atlanta.

Game 2 saw a lot more offense. Corbin Burnes (5 ip, 5 r) and Max Fried (4.1 ip, 4 r) both struggled at times. Took a 3-0 lead in the first off an Austin Riley HR, but couldn't hold it, and fell 9-7, giving up 4 HR (and hitting 3 myself).

Game 3 in Milwaukee was dominated by Freddy Peralta (7 ip, 0 r, 1 h, 1 bb, 5 k), but Mike Soroka hung in there (5.2, 1 er, 4 h, 4 bb, 4 k). Was down 1-0 in the 9th when Matt Olson, who was 0-10 in the series to this point, hit an RBI double off Devin Williams to tie the game. Two innings later, he called it off by hitting a go ahead HR, and I escaped with a 2-1 win.

Game 4 was two team pitching efforts. Eric Lauer gave up 2 unearned runs in 6 innings, and Alex Bettinger finished the game off. Kyle Wright allowed 1 run in 4 innings, and the bullpen was strong after that. Back to back Dansby Swanson errors in the fifth, however, resulted in Milwaukee scoring an unearned run to tie the game up. Then, in the bottom of the 9th, Christian Yelich won the game with a walk-off single to advance.

Pitching let me down in Game 2, but most of the series, my offense couldn't get going. Ronald Acuña only went 1 for 18 with a double after collecting 26 hits the previous postseason. Dansby Swanson went 2 for 14 with a pair of singles, along with his costly errors. Bryan Reynolds hit a couple of HR for Milwaukee, but his great defense in Game 4 kept quite a few runs off the board.

Dodgers ended up winning the World Series in 6 games over the Cleveland Guardians. Midseason pickup Adalberto Mondesi was their postseason MVP with a 1.053 ops, 3 HR, and 5 SB. Josh Naylor got that honor for the Guardians with an .851 ops and 2 HR. Freddie Freeman was the World Series MVP after having a 1.049 ops in the series, including going 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI in the deciding Game 6. Clayton Kershaw shed his postseason demons, having a 1.13 era in 4 postseason starts. Urias added a 1.31 era in 5 starts (including just 1 unearned run across 8.1 in the deciding game), and Buehler had a 1.99 in his 4 starts.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

I was going to wait to post until the entire offseason was done, but it's probably easier to update a bit at a time.

Free Agency I is done. We went after Trea Turner, but he signed with the Cubs. They offered him an extra year. With Turner off the board, we quickly brought back Dansby on a five-year, $55M deal (he hasn't hit for me near as well as he does IRL).

Our only other FA target so far was Wil Myers. Thought he'd be a good fit to platoon some with Joc in left and spell Freddie at first from time to time. But he wound up signing with the A's.

Speaking of Joc in left ... We want Acuna in right to open up center for Harris. So when Joc re-signed, that left a bit of a numbers crunch. So we traded Ozuna to the White Sox for Rodon and relief pitcher Aaron Bummer. Rodon replaces Berrios in the rotation with Bummer giving us a lefty to replace Will Smith.

Berrios ended up signing a five-year deal with the Giants that averaged out to about $28M a year. Smith signed with the Red Sox. And Kimbrel is apparently on a reunion tour as he signed with the Padres.

Another reunion in Chicago as Schwarber signed with the Cubs. Rizzo and Bryant never left, so with the additions of Turner and Schwarber they should have a pretty good offense. Buxton ended up re-signing with the Twins. Cleveland made a strong push for him. The Indians have turned their attention to Keirmaier now. The Yankees managed to re-sign Chad Green. Joey Gallo left Milwaukee for Toronto.

Willson Contreras and Luis Severino are the biggest names left. The Dodgers, Padres and A's are the top suitors for Contreras while the Giants, Yankees and Nationals are battling for Severino.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

My 2nd offseason is in the books. My big priority was rebuilding my bullpen. I brought back Kirby Yates on a 1 year deal, but I let Jansen and McHugh walk (to the Giants and Brewers respectively). I signed Jordan Hicks for 5/$30m, Josh Hader for 4/$59m, and Miguel Castro for 2/$10m. Also added Ian Happ to be able to platoon with Daulton Varsho and be a versatile guy I can play around the field. Also added Mike Zunino to replace Travis d'Arnaud (who signed with the Red Sox as backup catcher. I couldn't hit with d'Arnaud at all, and he was up to his mid 30s, so it was time to move on. Then, right as Spring Training began, I traded for Jhoan Duran, giving up Drew Waters (who was coming off a nice season with a .756 ops, 19 hr, and 22 HR in 124 games) and pitching prospect Reynaldo Raimo (20 y/o, 71 ovr, B pot). I was looking at him earlier in the offseason, but he didn't officially re-sign with them until the last day of the offseason. My head canon is that he was disgruntled about not being the closer after the Twins signed Edwin Diaz to a 9 year deal the previous offseason, so they were willing to move him.

The Angels were the big spenders this offseason. They locked up Shohei Ohtani for 11 years and $368 million before Free Agency officially started (which was disappointing, I was definitely planning on making a huge offer for him). Then they added Luis Castillo for $122 million over 6 years. They also added Matt Chapman (5/$49m), Adalberto Mondesi (5/$63m), Manny Piña (1/$5.8m), and brought back Liam Hendricks (1/$6.8m). On paper, their team looks amazing.

The Mariners didn't go as crazy, but they did still sign Carlos Rodon to a 10 year, $347 million deal. They're also getting Trea Turner back from injury after missing the last month of the season, and Aaron Judge after missing the entire year. They're also looking really strong. The Astros also are looking strong after adding Jose Alvarado and bringing back most of the rest of their strong bullpen.

There are some crazy rotations out there this year, with the Brewers, Angels, and Mariners all having 3 starters over 85 ovr, the Braves, Yankees, and Astros all have 4 over 85, and the Dodgers having 6.

For some reason, I'm also not very good with him. In my 2 seasons, he's had a .712 ops with 17 HR and a .735 ops with 14 HR. It cost me $85 million over 5 years to keep him, but I honestly regret not going after Turner or Bogaerts. But he's the best option I've got for now.

                    2023 Arizona Diamondbacks 06/06-06/08

Overall Record:42-21 (2nd NL West 1.0 behind LA Dodgers

                    D-Backs sweep Padres again

The Arizona Diamondbacks have swept the San Diego Padres for the second consecutive series between the two teams. Arizona swept San Diego in mid may and again in their most recent series during this first week of June.

The most recent sweep from wins of 5-2, 6-4 and 11-8. San Diego did have to face off against Arizona's top three starters in this series in Aaron Nola, Zac Gallen and Madison Bumgarner.

Arizona looked poised to take the easy victory in the final game of the series as they got out to a early 9-0 lead after their first three times at bat. But San Diego did not come out and ended up making it much closer behind some solid hitting that included back to back homeruns from Manny Machado and Luke Voit in the 6th inning. Voit added another homer in the 8th but eventually, Edwin Diaz was able to put a stop to the Padres comeback attempt as he earned his 17th save of the season.

Arizona is now on an eight game win streak and havent lost in the month of June to this point. That streak has Arizona just one game behind LA as the two teams head into their first season series in Los Angeles.

                      September 19-22: SALT LAKE (71-82) @ FLAGSTAFF (79-74)
                      Stadium: AutoZone Park (Capacity: 9,486)

                      September 19: Hops 9, Chukars 6
                      September 20: Chukars 5, Hops 2
                      September 21: Chukars 4, Hops 3
                      September 22: Hops 7, Chukars 4

Flagstaff, AZ (AP) - The Flagstaff Hops kept their fading playoff hopes alive as the split a four game series with Salt Lake. A couple of heartbreaking losses in the middle of bookend wins leave the Hops Wild Card hopes in jeopardy.

The Hops opened up the four game series with a 9-6 victory over the Chukars. They blasted four home runs, led by Leandro Lugo, who went 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs in the victory.

Robbie Westbrook got the Hops on the board in the third with a two-run shot to right, his 28th on the season. Leandro Lugo would hit a solo shot in the fifth to put the Hops up 3-1.

The Chukars would hit three straight doubles with two outs in the sixth to tie the ballgame at 3-3. But Emmitt Hampton responded with a solo home run to right in the bottom half to put the Hops back up 4-3.

Flagstaff would then score four in the bottom of the seventh with the big blow being a three-run home run from Roberto Geronimo. It was his 38th on the year and that made it 8-3.

Rookie Russell Fluty came in to pitch the eighth and it did not go well. He faced just three batters and all three would reach base and score as the Chukars cut the lead to 8-6. Art Mason would skip a ball past a drawn in infield in the bottom half to plate a big insurance run.

Vic Miller would pitch the ninth and sent down the Chukars in order to record his 39th save on the season. Mark With (2-0) picked up the save out of the bullpen in relief of starter Angelo Chacin. Chacin went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five and walking one.

On Tuesday evening, the Chukars bounced back with a 5-2 victory to even the series. Thor Odinson (9-8) tossed seven strong innings and Pablo Gomes drove in four to help Salt Lake to the win.

The Chukars got to Shoe-Lace O’Tying in this one, building a 3-0 lead in the fourth thanks to a Pablo Gomes two-run homer and RBI double. Gomes would add an RBI single in the sixth to put the Chukars up 4-1.

The Hops got an RBI single from Robbie Westbrook in the fourth and a solo home run from Phillip Choi in the eighth.

Emmett Franco worked a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up his 39th save for Salt Lake.

Shoe-Lace O’Tying (11-8) only went five innings, allowing three runs on nine hits. He struck out five and walked one.

On Wednesday evening the Hops suffered a brutal 4-3 loss. Robby Payne hit a two-out, two-run home run off of Vic Miller in the top of the ninth and then the Hops left the bases loaded in the bottom half as they lost for the fourth time in five games.

The Hops led this one 3-1 after four innings thanks to back-to-back home runs from Josh Ortega and Forrest Owen, but they could not make that lead stick.

Julio Cervantes homered in the fifth off of Ryan Pressley and then Robby Payne hit the dagger in the ninth. Neither guy is a big power threat with Cervantes hitting his fourth and Payne his 12th on the season.

The loss went to Vic Miller as he fell to (2-2) with his sixth blown save. The loss leaves the Hops four games back of a Wild Card spot with just 10 games left in the season. That is a tall task.

The Hops managed to salvage the finale 7-4 behind four home runs led by Josh Ortega’s two long balls.

Ortega homered in the third and fifth innings, going 3 for 3 as he drove in three runs.

Rafael Geronimo hit two home runs for the Chukars including a game tying home run to open the seventh off of starter Sam Herzog.

But the Hops rallied with four in the bottom half of the inning. Robbie Westbrook hit the first pitch of the inning over the wall in left center off of Daryl Pickett for his 29th on the year. Arturo Mardones would hit a three run blast later to put the Hops up by four.

Oliver Benedict (4-7) picked up the win out of the bullpen. He pitched two innings in relief of starter Sam Herzog. Herzog went six plus innings, allowing three run son four hits while striking out six.

Flagstaff (79-74) will now close out the home portion of their schedule with a three game series against St. George (82-71). The Archers are three games ahead of the Hops and just a half game out of a Wild Card spot. This series is huge for both teams.

Around the League: Yuma scored five times in the top of the ninth to stun Salt River 8-4. That result, coupled with a Gilbert 10-1 victory over Goodyear, leaves the Rafters six games back of the Barnstormers in the DL East.

Matt Campbell (11-11) tossed a complete game five-hit shutout, striking out nine as the San Diego Seals defeated the Henderson Silver Knights 6-0.

Las Vegas pounded out 17 hits as they opened a big three game series with Long Beach with a 13-3 victory. Steve Willis, the DL Cy Young favorite was rocked, lasting just 2/3 of an inning, allowing five runs on five hits, as his record dropped to (16-4).

Just finished my 3rd season in a fantasy draft franchise mode with the Blue Jays, did a 3-peat of World Series. Got some young guys coming up from the minors I've been developing over the past couple seasons but I kinda feel like starting a new fantasy draft franchise mode with the Marlins, not sure what to do. Temptations strong though

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

And we're off to the 2023 season in my Braves MLB 21 franchise.

                          STARTING PITCHING
                          1 - Mike Soroka (R)
                          2 - Max Fried (L)
                          3 - Ian Anderson (R)
                          4 - Carlos Rodon (L)
                          5 - Kyle Wright (R)

Four of our five starters are back. Jose Berrios departed to the Giants when we couldn't meet his asking price in in free agency. So we acquired Rodon in a trade. He's an 80 OVR in my universe, so he's not quite as good as IRL.

We got some depth, bringing in Kolby Allard and Dennis Santana in trades. Jared Shuster and Kyle Muller are also waiting in the wings.

                          BULLPEN
                          CL - Nick Anderson (R)
                          SU - Diego Castillo (R)
                          SU - A.J. Minter (L)
                          MR - Aaron Bummer (L)
                          MR - Tyler Matzek (L)
                          MR - Josh Staumont (R)
                          MR - Reyes Montora (R)
                          LR - Alex Reyes (R)

Anderson is now the primary closer with Will Smith signing with Boston. We also lost Craig Kimbrel, who signed with the Padres. Bummer came in the Marcell Ozuna trade along with Rodon. His face scan is eerily similar to Freddie Freeman's. We swung a trade with the Giants to get Montoya.

We acquired Carlos Estevez from the Rockies for Tucker Davidson. Estevez is first in line to be called up if someone falters. Lefty Thomas Burrows is another option. Generated prospect Enrique Chavez is moving through the system quickly and could be added to the 40-man before the season is over.

                          LINEUP
1 - Ronald Acuna, Jr., RF
                          2 - Ozzie Albies, 2B
                          3 - Freddie Freeman, 1B
                          4 - Austin Riley, 3B
                          5 - Joc Pederson, LF
                          6 - Dansby Swanson, SS
                          7 - William Contreras, C
                          8 - Michael Harris, CF
                          9 - Pitcher

                          BENCH
                          C - Austin Allen
                          1B/OF - Trey Mancini
                          Util - Leury Garcia
                          Util - Josh Rojas
                          OF - Roman Quinn

We wanted to move Acuna back to his natural position in right. That meant either letting Joc walk or moving him to left. We decided to move him to left and trade Marcell Ozuna. Top prospect Harris gets the nod on opening day in center. Contreras beat out Shea Langeliers for the starting catching job, but Langeliers is lurking in Triple-A.

If Pederson gets off to a slow start, Drew Waters could be an option in left. We also have Monte Harrison (non-tendered by the Marlins) as an option in center if Harris struggles. We thought Thairo Estrada (acquired back in 2021) would finally make the big-league club, but we don't have a roster spot for him at the moment. So he's starting at Gwinnett again.

Winning back-to-back World Series titles has its benefits. Liberty increased our budget to $200M this year. We're at $186M as the season starts. Since we didn't go crazy in free agency, we were able to extend some of our core stars. We reached four-year extensions with Soroka and Fried and bought out Ian Anderson's arbitration years. All three will be free agents after 2026. We also extended Castillo and Minter for three years and locked up Riley for five years.

                          AROUND THE LEAGUE
                          • The Giants were the most active team in free agency, signing Jose Berrios, Tim Anderson and Adam Frazier. They also brought back Brandon Belt, whom they had traded to Seattle at the deadline last year.
                          • The Marlins traded Sandy Alcantara to Boston back in 2021. They tried to right that mistake by signing Luis Severino.
                          • The Cardinals let Yadier Molina (still unsigned) and Buster Posey (Twins) walk. But they upgraded by snagging Willson Contreras on a six-year deal.
                          • The Mets re-signed Ketel Marte (whom they traded for at the deadline) and then swung a deal for Kenta Maeda as they try to close the gap on us in the East.
                          • The Yankees lost Severino, but bolstered their bullpen by acquiring Jose Leclerc, Blake Treinen and Adam Cimber. And their rotation is still deep with all five starters rated an 82 or higher, highlighted by Gerrit Cole's 95.
                          • The Yankees are expected to reach their third straight World Series. But the experts have them falling short again, although this time to the Padres. San Diego basically kept their core intact, but added Kimbrel and Travis d'Arnaud.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

About to start my 2024 season, following my longish offseason routine.

First, I have to edit all of the incoming draftees. I do some age and rating adjustments, and a lot of equipment changes. The game does some really weird stuff with equipment. All necklaces default to black, so those get changed to gold or silver. All gloves default to Post-I webbing, so I randomly pick one for position players, and then swap that to one of the closed webbings for pitchers. Gloves also default to being gray way too often imo. Equipment is commonly mismatched, so I mostly (though not always) try and have guys somewhat wearing the same brand (especially Catcher). Hardly anyone wears shin guards. No one wears Stance socks. And I personally just really don't like the look of stirrups, so those get changed to high socks. And shoes often have weird color stuff, so I clean that up. And anyone who has the backwoods chic beard gets that changed. And I (mostly) randomly assign Batting Stances and Pitching Motions.

Then, I go through the offseason. I have a spreadsheet open where I record any deal by any team over $1 million AAV, excluding Arbitration eligible players (unless it's a long term deal).

Once the offseason is done and I'm in Spring Training, I apply any long term injuries from the previous season. Essentially, anything with a 6+ month layoff for pitchers gets treated like Tommy John, and I use an RNG app to assign them a random number of days between 396 and 427 days for them to be out from the day of their injury. Do the same for position players who get an ACL Tear (that's 8-9 months) or Achilles (11-13 months).

Then I go through and set everyone's lineups, which is a two step process. First, I input every player on a major league roster's Contact, Power, Vision, Discipline, and Clutch into another spread sheet. That spreadsheet has 2 formulas set up. One for a right handed starter (which is (6*(5*CONR+CONL+5*POWR+POWL)+VIS+DISC+CLT)/9) and another for a left handed starter (which is (6*(CONR+2*CONL+POWR+2*POWL)+VIS+DISC+CLT)/9).

Second, I then have another spreadsheet that is like a priority order for batting orders for each team. That is based on that individual teams actual 2022 OPS splits for each spot of the batting order, and then adjusted for some common sense (like, I'm pretty confident the Rockies and Giants didn't intentionally put their worst hitters batting 3rd, even if that was the worst spot in their orders, just like I don't think the Marlins intended for the 9 hole to be the second strongest spot in the order). So that way, some teams put their best hitters batting 2nd, some cleanup, some 3rd, some leadoff. Keeps me from just setting up every lineup with the same basic philosophy (and letting the CPU handle lineups is a terrible to me).

I also go through the pitching rotations, and every starting pitcher assigned to the bullpen who was also a reliever the previous season gets converted to a reliever. They get dropped down to 40 stamina, get +1 to clutch, +6 to H/9, +16 to k/9, +10 to hr/9, +15 velocity on any fastballs, and -9 bb/9.

The last thing I do is take a peak at players who will be Free Agents. And this next offseason is going to be a bloodbath. There are 8 starting pitchers over 90 overall heading to Free Agency (Shane Bieber, Walker Buehler, Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, Zack Wheeler, Chris Sale, and Max Fried), along with 2 relievers (A.J. Minter and Ryan Pressly), and 6 position players (Danny Jansen, Pete Alonso, Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, and Tyler O'Neill). That's going to be a wild offseason.

                            On to 2024.

I love seeing everyone's offseason moves, I feel like the second season of a franchise is where things really start to get interesting and exciting.

I'm almost at the halfway point of year one in my Nationals franchise. Right now they sit at 27-52, after splitting a two game series with the Orioles and taking two of three against the Rangers. I took a break from the game because I was out of town, so I'm trying to remember what exactly was going on in my franchise lol. Luke Voit has cooled off significantly, but Joey Meneses and Cesar Hernandez remain consistent. Brady House continues to grow, while his numbers aren't stellar (.208 average, 4 HR, 14 RBI), he has been decent in the lead off spot and his defense has been better than expected.

The game plan remains the same: Develop the young talent this year and see how they progress moving forward. The veterans have been holding the team together, but so far I'm thinking that most of them will be gone at the end of the year. Patrick Corbin was just sent down to AAA, he has had a horrible year and the club has decided that he is a liability even in a bullpen role, so they recalled Paolo Espino for now. A young arm may replace Espino in the coming months, but we will see.

As for the rest of the league, there isn't too much to write about. I think I'll make a longer post sometime between the All Star Break/Trade Deadline, to give you guys some idea of the standings and any storylines and surprises that occur.
